Personality
[ Luke actually has a lot in common with Ruby, so much, that it's easier to list the differences between the two. Unlike Ruby, who shies away from matters that aren't completely superficial, Luke is willing to involve himself just for the experience. This often has him inadvertently coming off as blunt, and he's used to displaying the same politeness of the anime archetypes he watches, to make up for it. Luke is also not shallow when it comes to choosing Pokemon due to his constant playing of Nuzlockes, and while he likes Pokemon Contests, it's not the same kind of passion as Ruby's. He doesn't have the character's skill for sewing and knitting either. Probably the biggest differences between the two, is their view on fighting and alliances.
While it's understandable that Ruby was literally scarred from his first Pokemon battle, Luke actually enjoys battling despite not being remotely good at all competitively, and would rather gain fame as Champion rather than Coordinator. One of the reasons he enjoys version Ruby so much, is that you team up with the villains, and in Luke's opinion, Magma had a plan that actually made sense. Although he would actually love to help Ghetis with liberating Pokemon, seeing the plan more or less work in a Nuzlocke he read once, he has way too much of an overwhelming respect for Red to do so, who he affectionately starts calling Sempai once in-game.]

History
[ Born to an American father, and a Russian mother, one would expect his life would turn out fine as these two cultures came together. That was quickly proven wrong when Luke turned seven, which is when Luke's father, who was serving in the army at the time, was reported dead. Although sad himself, his mother took the news the hardest, blaming the government, and slowly starting to oppress Luke in fear she would lose him too. Needing help with the bills, his uncle came to live with them to help out, and it was he who introduced Luke to his first Pokemon game, Yellow.
Obviously his uncle disagreed with his mother's beliefs, although never spoke out against it, simply because she had been like this before meeting his father. He didn't object to continue educating Luke in the Pokemon franchise however, and for the next couple of years, would continue to do so. By sixth grade, things were stable enough for his uncle to leave, something that saddened him, although he was looking forward to joining the soccer team. This was one of the things his mother wasn't against him doing since it would only help his education, although Luke suddenly found he was expected to do certain things.
Going straight home after soccer practice was one of them, and not being allowed to hang out with his firends or vice versa was the other. Of course, he never questioned her actions, being taught it was disrespectful, which time would certainly change this. Although not happy with his arrangement, he was at least thankful he had school and soccer to look forward to, as well as keeping contact online and through phone. Since his friends often had to explain events he had missed after school, he was pushed to social networking as an alternative, after getting to the point where he envied the free life his friends had.
Through luck and boredom, he stumbled onto Pokemon's two popular communities, Nuzlockes and Competitive battling. Although he enjoyed both, he wasn't good at either of them, often dying too early in Nuzlockes, and not fully understanding how to recognize the strategy of a certain team. This led to his mentoring by Cole Brunel, who he found shared his like for the character Red, of which was one of the things he stumbled upon. His devotion to Red, and his debates for the whole "Red is not Ash" theory made him quite famous within the community, along with his emphasis the world Nuzlockes showed wasn't a bad one.
A couple of years passed, with Luke still being sheltered, until he had finally confronted his mother about it his Freshman year. Things were more or less worked out, although the "side-effect" of his mother oppressing him, was that he came to crave experience. He didn't want to miss any of the good memories he would have from this point forward, and became interested in photography, appreciating all the little things in the world, despite not everything about it being fine. By the time he had gotten a personal invite from the creator of Pokemon himself to attend a special event, he had already been to France, where the Kalos region was based off of. Going to Kyoto, which he knew was based off of Johto, was only one of the places he envisioned he would travel one day. ]

Plans for Sapphire: Compete with her in getting the gym badges, continue bickering with her like their characters would, and help her out into playing their roles.
[Online only] with Chris: Hasn't really introduced himself, being too busy with Red, but likes how he's focused.
Plans for Diamond: Have him cook, since his character's an expert on taste.
[Acquainted] with Emir: Brief introduction, pointed out the identity crisis they would have in-game. Told him about his plans to take the role as Ruby seriously, about the Npc's intelligence, and will now stalk go after him to make sure he always has a buddy around. Only thing keeping Luke from classifying him as a friend, is Emir's recklessness.
