Del'nal was out and about wandering and chasing those elusive butterflies. Always was she keeping her poor mate, Hinote, on his hooves trying to make sure she didn't get into any trouble or get herself killed. She weaved in and around the trees, looking around and calling for the butterflies. Oh how they fascinated her! And how they got her into trouble! "Butterflies! Oh Butterflies!"

Kaneo snarled as he once again failed to capture the rabbit he had been hunting. Normally he slept during the day, but his stomach demanded otherwise. The owlwalker ruffled his feathers as he clawed at the ground in anger. If he didn't get something to eat soon he was going to become incredibly cranky, well, even worse than what he normally was. He had wandered away from his mother to go hunt and would most likely go back to the area she last was in a few days, but for now he wanted to hunt. There was a gentle breeze as he started to plan his attack on the rabbit once more, when he caught the scent of another nearby. Maybe...maybe he could go after that one. And so he turned and headed towards the smell.

"Del'nal?" Once again, Hinote had lost sight of his ever-wandering mate. Some days, he wished she could stay put just for a little while so he could relax and cuddle with her. She wasn't one to stay still for long, and while he found it endearing, he always feared if he looked away for even one second, she would never be there anymore. He turned his ears about, trying to listen for his beloved cheerful voice--for, unlike him, she never, ever seemed to stop talking--and it was his only clue to where she was. .....And, there she was. He could just barely hear her lovely voice, but it was his darling mate all the same. He proceeded in the direction her could hear her from, when the wind shifted and he caught the scent of another nearby--and one that wasn't very friendly. Worried, he hurried towards Del'nal.

"Butterflies! Oh butterflies! Come out wherever you are! I just want to plaaaaaay!" The starry mare called out as she pranced around the flowers in the field. She kept her wings tucked into her side as she pranced around, always forgetting that she was capable of flight. It was a wonder her mate could stand her childlike state that she was always in. Yet he did and he was the constant in her life, and probably the only thing that kept her alive.

As she pranced she paid no attention to where she was going, and eventually stumbled over something white and feathery. "Ooof!" Del caught her balance and spun around to see what it was that tripped her. "Butterfly! You're a big butterfly aren't you? Do you want to play?"

He had followed the noise of the other and found this black winged mare just prancing about. The sight of such happiness made him absolutely sick to his stomach. What he wasn't aware of, was that she wouldn't notice him and actually trip over him! Snarling he flexed his claws as he eyed her, but was shocked into stopping when she asked if he wanted to play. Play? No one ever wanted to play with him. Did she not realize what he was?

Knowing his mate was very close, Hinote quickly made his way over, in time to witness his Del'nal trip over a... creature he'd never quite seen before. Of course, it was a young one, most certainly a Soquili, but he had never seen its kind. That, and Hinote felt a sense of alarm, something that only predator Soquili--such as Kalona--gave off. The young creature was a danger, but how much so begged to be judged. He then cringed as he caught the tail end of the words dropping from his lovely mate's lips. Oh, where were his children when he needed them? They always managed to make Del'nal slightly--extremely slightly--more mature. It was during situations like this that Hinote wasn't sure what the outcome would be. But he would definitely sacrifice himself for his mate. He loved her too much, and never wanted her to be hurt. Stepping out in full view for his mate to see him, he greeted her gently. "Del'nal," he hesitated for a split second, "who is your new friend?" He kept a wary eye on the young one as he spoke.

At the arrival of the male, the owlwalker snarled and snapped his beak. He was hungry and getting worse off as each minute went. Food was needed now. And now this male was going to mess everything up! "Get away! This is my dinner! Back off!"

Del smiled, almost bouncing in place when her mate finally arrived. "Look! It's a butterf..." but at that moment she was cut off by the sound of the snarling. Now she was confused. Butterflies didn't typically snarl. They were normally quiet and peaceful and yet fun creatures. Her confusion was even more apparent when the creature started talking about dinner. Del hated being confused and when confused she starts to get upset and she was getting increasingly close to that point. "Hinote...what's going on? Butterflies don't act like that. Do they?" she whimpered. Home seemed like a good idea right now.
