It wasn't even really much of a question whether or not he ought to fight back. The plant took a bite at him first; not much of a choice there, especially not when he was in a mood. Snarling, the mad hatter charged and sliced as best he could, managing to get a good chunk of the plant before taking a few hits himself.

Of course, thinking wasn't really on the plant's agenda so when it started to come for him again Kiin dashed forward, weapon at the ready, and managed to get a weak hit in. It's reaction was a bit slower -- lucky him -- and when he landed he had time enough to defend himself from its attacks.

The plant just kept on coming, swinging and biting at him, every so often succeeding when Kiin took a swing and made contact. The more swings the plant took, the more damage he was taking on. His pocket card flashed his amount of HP and he clenched his jaw, stopping once more to heal and throw up a defense before charging again.

And so battle with the plant waged on. He took more swings, he took more hits. He even missed a few times, much to his frustration, and freeing himself for an extra hit or two before he stepped back to heal again.

It was weakening, he knew, but not quite dead yet. Actually, far from dead. The plant still swung and the plant still tried to bite chunks out of him. Kiin was hoping to finish it off, but groaned at his selected cards and stopped to just use up the three heals before going back on the offensive.
At this rate it felt as though the fight would draw on for a bit longer, but he didn't really mind. The exercise was...oddly relaxing, he realized. Better than having to deal with oddly sized mushrooms and weird creatures that dealt him riddles in their spare time. He bobbed and weaved, ducked and rolled, swung and reveled in the feeling of his weapon making contact with its intended target. Though the hit was weak at best. Kiin growled when he missed his mark, though kept up the onslaught and was satisfied with the hits he made. The plant seemed to glower at him -- could plants, semi-sentient ones at least, even glower? -- before it tried to attack him again, shaving off a bit of his HP in the process. Each hit had a smile slowly cross his face, each miss lost the smile and it was back again with the next hit. Kiin was enjoying himself, though the plant certainly didn't find his form of amusement any fun. It was weakening, he was sure. Kiin went in for the attack again after taking a sharp hit to his left shoulder, much to his annoyance. It didn't do much to lessen his own blow to the plant, and it cried out. Much weaker now, he thought with the slightest bit of satisfaction. His next strike missed, though, and once again opening him up to quite a hit from the plant.
He healed as soon as he was able, then narrowed and locked eyes with the plant. Or.. sort of. The luck card pulled the corners of his lips into a faint smirk, and he charged for another series of attacks, not quite caring much about the damage he was taking. He was fairly well healed up, so he wasn't worried about suddenly dropping dead anyway.

Kiin stared at the spot where the plant had fizzled into nothingness, wondering if a chest would show up at some point. When it didn't, he snorted and tipped his hat, dropping his weapon into it and replacing it before checking his pocket card.
And there it was, proof of his hard-earned prize: a small boost in his EXP points. He replaced the card on his hat and went on his way again, hoping not to run into another blasted plant for a while.
