He'd done it! After a huge set back from a lost homlgang, exile into the rogue lands, and retraining himself to Stormborn standards, he'd reclaimed his reaver title! It was exciting, and Brandr was exceptionally proud of himself. He'd even brought home a thrall. Now, he'd done that a lot in the past, but this was special. This was his return to glory capture and it had been so very easy.

Now he found himself wandering the sparring sands, searching for an opponent to challenge and test his strength against. What else was he going to do in such high spirits? Well, there was always the lovely ladies, but if he was lucky they'd watch him fight and then swoon all over him when he won. Yup. That's how this was going to happen!

"You there!", he shouted at a kid that looked like he was searching for a partner to spar with. "We fight!" It wasn't a request, and Brandr was already trotting over to his would-be opponent. Of course, dipping his chin and shooting a wink to the ladies that sat not far away from the sparring grounds. Oh on-lookers, how he'd missed them!

It'd been a few days since his battle- yes he was calling it a battle, with the golden Outlander. His wounds had healed over, as the healer had told him they weren't that deep, and Bál was ready to fight him again. Bright blue eyes searched for the pale-faced lion, who had not given him his name, a fierce determination to beat him this time gleaming in his gaze. Unfortunately, he didn't see him, but what he did see was a dark Stormborn challenging him to a spar.

It wasn't the Outlander, but Bál was willing to fight anyone at this point. Without a moment's hesitation he sprinted at his challenger, failing to notice his attention was elsewhere, and barreled into the larger lion. Ha-ha! A direct hit! His tackle seemed to do the trick as he heard his opponent's distinct 'oof' as the wind was knocked out of him.

Maybe his fight with the Outlander had made him that much better already?

What the s**t?! One moment he'd been winking at the ladies, and the next the world was tumbling around him and his breath caught in his chest. When Brandr was finally able to make sense of what happened, and the offending lion that had tackled him, his disbelief turned to a snarling scowl. That little p***k! Didn't he know to wait until his opponent was paying attention to him before starting the spar?

Brandr rolled back onto his paws, the sound of lady's laughter reaching his ears. Sure enough, they were probably laughing at him. Brandr huffed, fur bristling as he turned his attention to the now waiting lion. Figures. In a very elaborate display, Brandr bowed deeply before him, venomous sarcasm dripping from his voice as he did so. "By all means, after you", he invited.

If he was going to score after this spar, he'd need to salvage his pride and get the ladies back on his side through charm and skill. There would be no playing around, not while getting laid was on the line.

Bál hesitated, not at all missing the sarcasm or the glare the other lion was fixing him with. Had messed up already? Maybe he was just mad because he'd gotten the first hit in. Yeah. That seemed right. Probably. But now he wasn't quite sure what to do, so he lashed his tail out behind him as he studied his opponent. Maybe it would be easy to tackle him again? He didn't seem that strong, and it looked like he was willing to wait.

His claws sheathed and unsheathed as he considered his options, watching as his challenger rolled his eyes and fixed him with an unflattering stare of disbelief and annoyance.

Then he heard some of the ladies call out encouragement in his favor, and Bál grinned a big stupid grin. Okay! He rushed forward again, charging with all the strength he could muster and aiming straight for the dark lion once again. If it had worked before, it was bound to work again!

It infuriated him to hear the ladies cheer for the kid, and Brandr was all the more determined to best him while making a show of it now. Now if only the kid would get a clue and start the fight already. Ah. There we go, prayers answered. Brandr watched him intently as the kid made to charge at him again. Nothing special it seemed. No movement to belie a feint attempt or even throw a paw in his face. Brandr was almost insulted. Almost, but not unwilling to take advantage of it.

With a great show of finesse, surprising for a lion his size, Brandr sidestepped the charge and with a heavy paw struck a blow to the back of the kid's head. Minimal effort on his part, but he smirked as the kid went face-first into the sand, skidding for good effect. Ah. Justice served and he could already hear the ladies gasps from on the hill where they sat.

Brandr's tail lashed out behind him, as he craned his neck around to give them an arc of his brow. A very plain 'watch this' plastered onto his features.

The grit of sand on his tongue and the sting in his eyes was infuriating. Not to mention the humiliation. Gods. The humiliation. Bal wasn't about to give up though, not without wiping the floor with his opponent at least little bit. That's all he wanted to do right now.

Pushing himself back onto his paws the fire-maned lion snarled at the older lion, believing his anger would give him the extra push needed to win. He gave into the emotion easily, allowing it to fuel him into yet another charge. Best two out of three couldn't hurt, right? He wanted to latch onto the other guy's fur and just rip until nothing was left.

Yes. Yes, his pride had been hurt. It didn't help that the sound of laughter only reminded him that they had spectators. ******** women.

Another charge? Brandr almost couldn't believe it, but if the kid was going to keep making it easy on him who was he to complain? As long as he got to put on a show and came out on top, Brandr was more than happy to oblige. And from how things were sounding up on there the ridge there, he wouldn't be going home alone tonight.

Like a rampaging ox, the kid was slow and easy to track, and as soon as he came into range Brandr went into motion. This time he slammed his weight into the kid's shoulder as he passed, throwing off his balance. It was almost sad to watch the kid stumble around and lose his footing, once more taking a dive into the sand. Almost. But not quite.

This spar wasn't over yet, Brandr still had a ways to go in making the kid pay for embarrassing him in front of the ladies.

If he wasn't happy before, Bal certainly wasn't happy now. He was certain he'd get him this time! A frustrated roar that turned into a grunt as he hit the ground hard came from his throat. This was absolutely infuriating! He'd trained against his father, his brothers, and he'd even fought that Outlander, so why was he having such a difficult time keeping pace with this reaver? He couldn't even touch him!

His muscles were starting to get sore, and he felt a bit dizzy from hitting the ground twice in a row, but that didn't stop him. It did however sober him from his anger a little bit. If he couldn't beat this guy with brute strength and being ticked off at him, how was he going to beat him?

Getting his bearings, Bal groaned and rolled onto his paws. This fight wasn't over yet.

There was no need to carry through in his attack. In a fight he most certainly would have, but this wasn't a fight. It was a beating. The kid hadn't landed a blow on him yet, and he was choosing to ignore that initial tackle as actually part of the spar, so Brandr had the luxuary of watching and waiting for his opponent's next move. He'd not exerted much energy in beating him either, the kid's power and momentum seemed to be doing all the work. Brandr smirked as he noted the tired rise and fall of the kid's sides. Yeah, he was wearing him out.

To his surprise the kid was on him in a second, pivoting around and lashing out with outstretched paws. Brandr was quick though, quick enough to bat away the attempts by throwing strikes of his own, while taking steps forward in the process. This forced the kid to back down, to concentrate on not getting hit rather than focusing on landing any real blows. Too easy. Brandr threw a flurry of strikes, snapping his teeth at the kid's throat while doing so while still moving forward.

The tactic kept him in control of the spar, while managing to look impressive and intense to the ladies no doubt. For the little bit of flair at the end Brandr lunged forward with his next strike, catching the kid in the side of the face and sending him sprawling out on the sand once more. Brandr grinned a smug grin.

It was too much for Bál to keep up with so suddenly. He wasn't particularly certain what to do in the situation so the younger stormborn switched into defense mode. It was all he could do to keep the older lion from smacking him around or landing a strike a bite, and he was having difficulty concentrating on his step. Therefore, it came as no surprise when a blow finally struck him in the face, sending the fire-maned lion to the ground once more.

He was sore all over, and his pride was a little bruised. He pondered giving up at that moment, the spar was clearly won, but his ego would not allow that. He wanted something to hit that lion. Anything. A strike or a bite, just anything. Through the haze that came from hitting the ground thrice in a row, Bál rose and launched himself blindly at the reaver once more. He felt dizzy, but despite this he put all his strength behind the blow, teeth snapped onto what felt like flesh and bodies clashed.

Pain came to his head once more, twice more, thrice more until his consciousness faded into black and his jaws relaxed their bloody hold.
