Laram pushed the door open to the shop and allowed his team in before closing it. The shop was a little more kept up than the one in Blume Town, which Laram was grateful for. There was a middle aged lady at the front desk smiling as he walked in. For some reason, her smile didn't creep him out like the nurse's."Come in, come in. What can I do for you?""Yes, well um...I'm a new trainer, and I don't really know what I'm doing. Is there something you can recommend to someone who is just starting out?"The woman's smile grew bigger before answering. She knew a customer when she saw one."Oh of course. Here, let me take you around the store and show you what we have."The woman latched on to Laram's arm with a death grip he thought only his Rufflet could achieve. The woman babbled on and on about potions and battle items, and the like. Laram wasn't really listening. He was more focused on the lack of blood flow going to his arm.
A couple of things did catch his eye though. One was a pouch, not very large. But not terribly small either. It was made of some good quality leather, and Laram managed to grab it off the wall while being carried around."Oh that's a bargain at a mere 150 dear. Now let me show you these full restores. A little pricey but they're worth....." The woman's voice trailed off in Laram's ears. He caught a glimpse of his team standing near the door. Shadow had gone invisible. But he couldn't hold it up because he was laughing too hard. Laram kept seeing flashes of blue with every sound the frog Pokemon made. Zeus was not trying to hide anything. He was very obviously amused at the whole situation. Jack was indifferent. Laram managed to grab a sturdy looking rope in all the commotion, and before he knew it they were back at the front counter."Let's see. With the pokeballs and the potions. Oh, I see you want the escape rope to. That comes out to be....1,900. How will you be paying for that?"Laram handed her the money and left. He did not want to spend any more time there. The experience left a bad taste in his mouth, and he found the opposite side of town and King Town.
This place again. The trainer frowned, sourly remembering his last experience in this shop."What's up? Something wrong?""No, it's fine. I just have a bad taste in my mouth.""Okay. Well, I'm tired. So I want to take a break here in King Town."The ranger rolled his eyes, making sure that Michael couldn't see. He wondered how the courier kept his occupation. He was slow, and stopped far too many times to get anywhere on time."I'm going to get a casteliacone and hit up the wonton for some lunch. Meet back here at nightfall?""That's way too long. We can make it to Blume Town today if we just keep going."Laram regretted accepting this job very much. For a second, he considered just abandoning the kid; but rangers never quit a job halfway. So he gritted his teeth as the courier responded."It's fine. It's not due until tomorrow. After what happened on Route 2, I feel like I deserve a treat. Laram clenched a fist. He really had had enough of Michael for the day. So he angrily conceded.
"Fine. But we meet on the road out of town two hours before sunset. We need time to set up a suitable camp for the night. I won't hear anything else. If you want me to take you to Blume Town, you're doing it."Laram wanted to sound a bit harsh, but maybe not so much. He was getting increasingly frustrated with Michael, which he could tell was interfering with the job. After the courier agreed, Laram watched him leave, wishing that he was back in Nix City. Sighing to himself, the trainer opened the door of the shop, bracing for the inevitable bad time. Luckily, someone else was minding the store and Laram breathed a sigh of relief. He perused the shelves for a bit, before picking up two Pokeballs, one regular, and one great. Nothing else interested him. He brought the capsules to the front counter and placed them on it."I'd like these, please." [colo=grey]The shopkeeper eyed the balls on the counter, then the trainer. "You know that you have to have at least one gym badge to buy great balls right?""Really? I didn't know that."The shopkeeper smiled smugly and reached for the great ball."Good thing I have the gear badge from Nix City."Laram flashed the badge and retrieved the pokeballs from the counter. After he paid for them, he left the shop. He had no idea why the shopkeeper was trying to be a jerk, but he didn't care. He left, off in the direction of the radio tower.

Since he now had a beginner's cook book, as well as basic camping gear, Regal decided that he would try his hand at cooking dinner tonight. He had only just reached King Town today, but the thought of a gym battle in Nix City had him itching to hit the road again. It would be a three day trip on foot, so the trainer decided to stock up on food for the journey and simply head out early. He could get a few hours travel time before needing to set up camp, and that way he could start up again bright and early the following morning. Truth be told, he was excited to camp under the stars tonight. His grandpa used to take him camping when he was little, but that was a long time ago now. Besides, he couldn't call himself a proper Pokémon trainer if he was afraid of roughing it in the wild.
"Bread, sausages, eggs... Oh! This salad mix looks easy enough to prepare!"
Shopping for groceries was yet another first for the former rich kid, but it was another learning experience that he was taking in stride. He had often snuck into his family kitchen as a kid to try and at least learn the basics of cooking for himself, but was often turned away by the staff at his father's command. Supposedly, it wasn't a skill necessary for one of his pedigree. What a load. He could prepare basic snacks such as sandwiches and rice balls, but learning how to properly cook would be quite the challenge. It was one he would have to conquer if he wanted to make this journey successful, though. His lunch at Kam Wah had taken a serious hole out of his wallet, and he could only assume that other restaurants would be just as expensive. Learning to cook would save him a lot of money in the long run. Satisfied with his choices, Regal paid for his groceries and began making his way towards the town exit. It was finally time to get moving again.

"What took you so long? I thought you left me here."Laram gritted his teeth. A few hours wasn't enough time away from the courier. The ranger inwardly shook his head. He felt like he spent almost an entire year in King Town. He knew that Blume Town was only about five or six hours away by foot. But towing Michael along was like making the trip with a large weight tied around his ankles."Whatever, come on. We need to make camp somewhere on Route 1. If we get started early tomorrow, we can make it to Blume Town around midday."The courier shrugged, which annoyed Laram even more."I'm not too worried about it. As long as I make it to Blume Town tomorrow, unscathed, I'm happy."Laram balled his fist. He was getting really tired of the courier's flippant attitude towards his job, his safety, and his life. It was as if he was just expecting Laram to take care of all his problems."Well I care. I have to get back to Nix City. I've been gone for too long already."Laram watched Michael's face scrunch up, almost as if he seemed annoyed. This infuriated the trainer. His nostrils flared as he attempted to breathe out his anger. Everything Michael had already put him through, and he had the nerve to get annoyed? Laram was ready to abandon him and return to Nix; but the rangers never abandoned a job once they started it.
"Just freaking come on. We have to set up camp." Laram released his Rookidee into the sky and the rest of his party except Baldur in front of him. It was good for them to stretch their legs. Plus, it allowed the trainer to be ready for anything that might ambush them on their way."Just wait here. I need to pick up some items from the store before they close."Laram gritted his teeth once again and entered the Pokemart. He hated the shop owner, but he wanted to pick up some Pokeballs while he was around. Ignoring the daggers shot his direction from the owner, the trainer picked up four Pokeballs and paid for them without word. After leaving, he retrieved Michael and they made their way out towards Route 1 as the sun continued to set in the sky.
