Flower information:
Destiny's Flame is the flower itself, Destiny's Star is the part of the plant that will allow for the immunity to soquili blessed with flames upon their body, but to prevent confusion, the plant is called Destiny for short.
The petals are pointed and sharp; the coloration of the petals matches that of a flickering flame: yellow toward the center and transitioning to reds/oranges. Protecting Destiny’s star (the five petals in the center of the flower that create a star like shape) are seven spike thorns aimed toward the center. Wicked vines with thorns branch out from the flower. Destiny is a twisting vine that uses its thorns to grip onto walls. The roots of the flower go deep into the earth, absorbing all the moisture that it can find. Similar to a cactus, Destiny's Flame does not need much water to survive and it flourishes in hot dry environments. Destiny can be found in the desert, usually found growing up the wall of deep canyon fissures, where there is shade but also direct sunlight. When taken from this dry environment, it will take a few generations of the plant’s life cycle to be able to adapt.
Destiny is sought for its ability to make those who ingest the star center to become immune to flame burning upon the body of a soquili. It does not work on actual flame. The reasons why are currently unknown. Theories of how the plant makes the soquili immune are varied; one prominent theory is that it is believed that Destiny’s Star is a type of poison that changes the chemical makeup of the individual who ate the star. It mutates the DNA to allow for a certain tolerance of flame/burning, since the flames carried upon soquili are not as hot as wild flame, the immunity only works for lower levels of heat/flame/burns, not the raging heat of a wild fire.
In order to gain Destiny’s properties of immunity, the sharp petals and thorns must be removed so the star center comes free, it is a long process in which one needs to proceed with caution or risk the loss of blood. Once the star is free from the protective thorns, it can be consumed, no extra preparation or work is necessary.
When ingested, the one taking Destiny’s Star will begin to feel as if they have stepped into a raging fire, it is agonizing pain, and nothing can be done to alleviate the burn. Time is the only cure. This is normal and shall last a minimum of an hour. Many do not seek the plant because of the side-effects of swallowing the Star. Use of this plant has been recommended to those who have family who possess flaming hooves or to a mare that has the slightest probability of giving birth to foals with flames in order to prevent injury/burns.
