Colonel had never experience anything at all like the fire that had ravaged the land not so long ago. The damage, from what he could tell, was more widespread than most thought it to be. But even in the wake of disaster there were blessings to be found- he was alive, if a little burned, and so was his daughter and her son. That was more than some had left. He had heard stories of sadness and horror from his healer. He would do what he could to help those he came across once he was a bit more able to do so. For now his healing burns limited his ability to travel, they slowed his pace so he could not go quite as far in a day as he normally would. It irked him somewhat but he knew if he rushed things it would make the damage worse rather than allow it to heal.
It was getting dark now so it was probably best to find some place to rest for the evening and let his soreness from walking ebb off. The place he had been passing through had been relatively quiet for the past couple of hours with the exception of the calls of birds and other animals, probably seeking food and refuge after the fire. Though now there was something else added to the mix, a feminine voice...that seemed to be singing? His ears perked as he paused to listen. The stallion couldn't quite make out the words but he was able to tell what direction it was coming from. Perhaps if it was someone friendly they wouldn't mind company for the evening?
