Nestled under a shaded tree, the lioness groomed her front paws after a nice morning meal. She never had many worries with her life. Not once did she think her life was pointless or meaningless. She felt a great joy and pride in her simple existence. Many would probably find it dull or drab, but not her. She would rather it be simple then to complicate it with drama and it seemed like she followed a little bit in her mother’s footsteps. Her mother didn’t lead to crazy of a life either. From what she could remember of her, she seemed pretty content with her simple existence. Not once did she remember her mother troubled or trying to figure out why her life was the way it was. No, he mother always seemed happy and full of pride. This was something she knew she inherited.

Even though she didn’t know about her father at all, this didn’t play a critical role in her life and she grew up just fine without a father figure. She was sure if she was a male it would probably have some affect, but no she was as carefree as she always was. Though a part of her wished she could experience happiness someday. A happiness with another. She knew she would never mate with anyone, but that didn’t mean she couldn’t fall in love. She hadn’t yet, but she wondered how she could feel. If it would change her mind to the point where she would do anything for the other.

No, this wasn’t her. It couldn’t be her.

She rose from her resting spot, her eyes weary from the bit of drossiness she felt after having her fill. She eyed the landscape for a moment before taking her first step in the direction she felt she needed to go. She was a creature of habit. She traveled every day for a certain amount of hours only stopping for food and water. She couldn’t stay in one place for too long or be around someone for more then a day. She loved being friendly and loved speaking with others, but no..it wasn’t something she wanted to be around every single day. This is why pride life for her wasn’t going to happen unless the other was to be very charismatic about it.

The thought amused her so much, she chuckled lightly under her breath and then she heard a loud crackle of thunder.

Rain…

She walked slowly eyeing the sky and feeling small droplets fall on her orange coat. This was the perfect traveling weather. The perfect time for thinking about her life and to figure out what she wanted.

A reflection.

A time to look at herself and see what she needed or what she could live without.

There was one thing she knew she couldn’t live without and that was family. She wanted family so much. So much. She loved her mother of course, but a family of her own would really make her happy. Even if her children didn’t stay by her side, she would be happy just knowing they were all right or in good hands.

A small smile crept up on her muzzle as her coat began to get more drenched. Would her mother be proud of her? Would her mother even want to know about what she wanted to do? She wanted her mother’s approval and love. She didn’t want her to hate her decision with what she wanted to do. She wanted to made her mother proud, but she didn’t know how too.

She continued walking hearing the rain pounding against the ground and she could hear the loud thunder shrieking through the sky above her. Eventually she would have to find shelter to get out of this storm, but right now she was out in the open on this plain. She had nowhere to go other then across until she found something worthwhile. Until she found somewhere that she could stay.

She flicked her wet tail and continued onward across the soaked plains seeing animals huddled under what kind of safety the trees could provide them. She was looking for something a little more enclosed then that, but beggars couldn’t be chooser. Not at a time like this.

Then it finally dawned on her. What if she met a male, had kids with them and all her children left her to be in a pride? She would be devastated and wouldn’t know what she would do. Would she join the thing she was most against? She felt that if it came to her children she would do anything for them. She couldn’t see herself parting with every single one of them like that. Even though she felt she could if she had to, it would just be so horrible for her.

She felt herself get a little uncomfortable at the thought, but she still liked the idea. To have a family of her own is almost like a dream come true. Her family wasn’t huge so she wanted a big family.

She smiled eyeing a few families as she went. Seeing how happy they were and how protective the parents were over the children. That was what she wanted. That was what she felt she needed.

She finally figured it out.

She knew what she wanted now. She knew what would make her happy or at least feel whole.

She wanted a family.

With a loud crackle of thunder, the lioness hurried to a rock formation that hid her out of harms way of the storm. She shivered gently against the cold stone and listened attentively to the rain falling hard against the ground.

After this she was going to travel as long as she could until she found the one that would make her happy. To give her something else to be proud of in her life and something she could treasure for the rest of her life. She didn’t know how long it would take her to find it or when she would, but she was going to stay as optimistic as she could.

Her life was going to change and she couldn’t wait.
