The feeling of another oncoming WACKY weather system prickles your skin. With a feeling of dread, you brace yourself for the effects of… A soothing, balmy breeze. Aaah…
This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.

Something glinting over a bluff catches your eye. A burrow in the side of the dune yields a bounty of shining golden beetles! And as they say, lucky beetles mean good fortune (and megabux$$$).
Each member of the group has acquired 1 lucky beetle that can be redeemed at the end of the meta for a variety of rewards. You cannot carry any more than 5 lucky beetles total; if you run into this encounter more than 5 times, you cannot collect any more.

A thick translucent blanket of dust appears ominously on the horizon. It looms closer and closer until finally a distinctive wind whips around its waves of sand and dust, creating a suffocating climate for everyone inside of the storm.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

An overenthusiastic bouncebeast hops into view. You don’t pay it any mind at first, but when it starts to get closer—and closer—you realize that spring is in the air. The lovestruck beast assaults your group!
The bouncebeast has 1 HP, but has a +1 to avoid being hit (you will need to roll a 4 or above to hit). Every post in which the lovestruck bouncebeast has not been defeated incurs 1 point of damage to the group (as it wounds the group’s dignity in trying to hump their legs).

The pitter-patter of drizzly rain dot the sand with dark freckles. It’s pleasant at first, but soon the rain picks up pace. A roar of rolling thunder heralds a torrential rainstorm! Soon thick, heavy raindrops coat every surface in sight.

Upon encountering a heap of weather-ravaged rubble, you spot a familiar hoppity stump laying on the ground. Whether it’s a sign of the dangerous WACKY weather is irrelevant – any troll knows that bouncebeast hooves bring good luck!
Your group has acquired a lucky bouncebeast hoof! The hoof can be used to reroll one dice roll during the meta. When the use of the hoof has been announced, the most recent roll is thrown out and can be re-rolled. The lucky bouncebeast hoof is then discarded from the inventory.

So what if no one was actually around to admire what top form Sempur and his new unit were in? It was the principle of the matter, a test of discipline, and also he just felt very fine leading the way in the model march and shouting out truly inspiring whatever-came-to-mind messages, out into the wind to be thrown back into their faces, along with sandy grit that he was also eagerly rubbing in-between his palms. The friction there was only a taste of the pain he hoped to feel on this mission, and his unit, too; he was very excited to imagine them hurt and struggling only to come out on top. A mission within the mission, because Pathetic and this new, too-orange troll certainly needed some character-building.

"Do you know why I have designated us as the Bleeders?" Oh, how clever he had felt when he had sprung that name on Pathetic. "Because I expect us to BLEED and make OTHERS bleed but mostly WE WILL BE BLEEDING and it will be A LOT." Sempur would have continued yelling along these long-winded lines, but a roar to rival his own interrupted—there was their chance to bleed and make bleed as the charging lusus appeared, kicking up choking red dust in its wake, and the militant blueblood did not even hesitate. Enough playing with sand! His hands were at his knives in an instant as he whirled to command his mighty troops, all two trolls of them, to "ATTACK!"

Well, this was certainly shaping up to be the most horrifying journey that he'd ever made during his short existence. When the first random winds had whipped through the plains, he'd thought it was just the usual occasional gust, but a couple of days it had been really strong, and that's when the news had reached him. An escaped lusus, a bounty, and even worse, a malfunctioning weather machine? It was almost beyond his comprehension, so of course, he'd pulled a sweater on and toddled off to see what Sarcel had to say..........

And here they were, now, in the desert, after a whirlwind of activity that still had his poor head spinning. How had he even agreed to this horrible mess? He'd been introduced to a troll who amazed and terrified him all at once, this scarred up brute of a blueblood who was constantly making him jump with all his yelling and bossing about. Even worse, he'd been separated from them for days while they'd been in the desert camp, awaiting the go ahead to start the search, and he'd cried himself to sleep in an unfamiliar recuperacoon several times in the duration of the stay. After barely managing to keep his wings a secret (he'd had a few close calls, and it was just a good thing everyone was in such a tizzy over the 'wacky'), his nerves were frazzled by the time they were finally tromping out over the sand.

Piperi had been equipped with some much more appropriate wear for the desert, of course (he wasn't going to risk being chewed out again after the first time 'Sempur' had seen him barefoot). Boots, a large jacket, and his trusty tinted goggles, he was more or less physically prepared, but nowhere near mentally ready. His frayed nerves were making him more jumpy than usual, despite the fact that the desert vista was more beautiful than he'd ever imagined. He'd always heard Chittentown was an ugly, dirty place (which had proved to be true, more or less), but the desert was a different story. Too bad he wouldn't get much of a chance to enjoy it.

"Why do they need to bleed again? I thought we were looking for some sort of weather machine." He piped up in his quiet voice, blinking in owlish innocence. Sempur was such an angry creature. He could see why a troll like him would need a palemate like Sarcel, but he had to wonder if even a drop of her calmer demeanor helped him at all. It didn't seem like it. He was about to murmur something to Sarcel when Sempur began to yell, and---

Pip let out a little shriek himself! There it was, the very beast they were hunting! "I'll slow it down!!" He reached to snatch his slingshot, fumbling with it for a moment before taking a shot at the beast's rump as it charged by. Certainly not a lethal hit, but maybe it would be distracted and change direction? His wings quivered against his back, and his blood pusher pounded. This was the most excitement he'd had in a long while!

FORGOT TO ROLL GDI
Melancholies rolled 1 6-sided dice: 5 Total: 5 (1-6)

Sarcel, in truth, felt both awful with the situation as well as (guiltily) relieved. The blueblood wasn't particularly interested in the weather, and knowing how unpredictable mother nature could be, didn't think much of the fact when the winds whipped up or the storms blew in. Of course, all of that changed when she received a flyer about some weather device and WACKY this WACKY that (Sure is whacky something, she'd think privately). The news certainly would not slip past one Sempur Livora, and she had her doubts that she would be able to escape his reign of terror this time (as she somehow had in times past).

Though she certainly hadn't expected for Pip to show up, either. She didn't mind— she was very pleased she wouldn't have to go this alone—but she also felt bad for the orangeblood. There were few that could deal with Sempur for extended periods of time, and in fact she often thought she was the only one. Someone had to keep him in check, though Sarcel doubted that she really subdued the troll at all.

Point being, she wondered constantly during their trek how they even managed to be in this group at all. She worried, too, for the both of them. Worry that Pip would be alright and that Sempur would be alright (she wouldn't dare voice that concern, however), but she knew how previous expeditions had gone and knew about the bluebloods low tolerance for failure (especially, as her eyes drifted wearily over his missing horn, with himself). Not to mention she had reservations on how well her other orangeblooded friend would cope, since Sempur minus this task was enough to wear down on anyone. They seemed to be alright for now, though.

And thus, she tried to remain optimistic. Something in the back of her mind screamed FUTILE, but another part did genuinely hope for the best. Pip seemed okay and Sir was all too enthusiastic about the ordeal, dubbing the team as the Bleeders (how fitting for him), though the sheer pride she saw in his towering stature as he coined the name was enough to be inspiring on its own. She had to make him proud, had to preserve that; for as badly as their relationship seemed on the outer crust to most trolls, it was no lie that the blueblood was in fact the largest form of concentrated motivation for Sarcel.

Her thoughts interrupted by Pip, she turned to the orangeblood as they walked. He had a point, but Sarcel had learned to never question Sir on any matters anyway, and so she merely shrugged, trusting the gesture to speak better than her stuttery voice. Soon after came the bark from Sir, and while Pip shrieked she merely jumped (progress!), hand quickly reaching for her gun, pulling it up in an instant (should have been faster!)

"Attack!" Sarcel cheered, her voice almost a literal echo with how it paled in comparison to Sempur's booming roar. As Pip struck the beast, she too bolted towards the lusus, confident that she could catch up to the beast for a shot, knowing she had to land a hit, less she reap disappointment from Sir and well, that wasn't an option. Finger on the trigger, she shot to kill, a pleased fulfillment residing in her chest when the shot landed.

Still much to early for celebrations, however. She was reloading in a moment's notice, eyes primed on Sempur for the next command.

It was a damn fine thing for that Strato fellow that the lusus had conveniently decided to appear just after his query, shifting Sempur's laserlike focus away from speeches and into battle, for backtalk would absolutely not be tolerated in this unit, no matter how logical it was. Any excuse to bleed and make bleed was a good one, and if there was no excuse, then by god they would make some. So perhaps a part of Sempur was impressed by how readily his recruits took up arms. Except, their arms happened to be long range, and one of them was more of a toy than a weapon, really, so he only ended up sneering in disgust at the bumbling lowblood before, lusus herded frantically his way, he decided to show them a more respectable form of combat.

Pip could only stare as their stalwart leader finished off the impromptu fight, slingshot still tightly grasped in his hand. It seemed that the blueblood was simply too much for the massive creature, as it veered off and went thundering away as Sempur tore into the poor thing. Pip couldn't help but feel pity for the poor thing; it was obviously distressed, and he wilted when he realized that it wasn't going to meet a very kind end. Whose lusus had it been, anyway?

"Wouldn't it be better to find a way to get the machine back without killing that poor creature?" He wondered aloud in his quiet voice, pocketing his weapon and rubbing the side of his face. It wasn't specifically a question to either of his teammates, but he wondered all the same, and kicked the sand with a sigh.

"There's stuff like tranquilizers. They could have given us that." He stepped off a ways, shielding his eyes as he went...only to yelp again. There was something headed their way, but it wasn't nearly as large as the lusus was.

"A-ahh! Something is coming again!!" He whimpered as he staggered back.

Ah, how good it felt to get his knives into flesh that wasn't his own, not that Sempur didn't enjoy that particular self-destructive habit. However, he could not relish the moment for long, as the lusus managed to shake him off and continue its mad dash off into the desert. "Fight me!" he bellowed after its retreating form indignantly, fists trembling with how tightly he still gripped his weapons. But again, the lowblood recruit had to speak up, and Sempur rounded on him in an instant.

"That poor creature MUST die for such flagrant thievery, and we should be PROUD to kill it in the name of—" But something was, indeed, coming again, and Sempur perked up for one hopeful moment, only to deflate in disappointment when it wasn't their mark at all. Oh, deflate? No, wait, he actually bristled up and snarled at the intruding lizardbeast like a fellow dumb beast of the desert. This creature now, too, deserved to die for interrupting, and the blueblood leapt at it with still-bloodied knives thirsting for more.

Pip let out another high-pitched whimper, shaking in his boots as he once again unsheathed his slingshot and took aim after retrieving a few smooth pebbles from the pouch at his hip. It wasn't the lizard he was frightened of, but Sempur's approach as he moved to pounce on the poor beast.

"Don't kill it! We probably just startled it is all!!" He cried, and launched a shot at the beast's tail.

In the distance… Is that a mirage? It certainly looks too good to be true, but as you get closer you break into a sprint when you realize that the oasis is exactly what it appears to be!

There’s little time to get to higher ground as a surging wave of water sweeps through the plains. Aided by a localized storm system, the flash flood rolls through quickly and viciously.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 2, 3, 4, or 5 are rolled on a D6.

A swarm of crawling biteystingerpinchybeasts sets upon the group – looks like the weather and your stepping all over them has made them pretty mad. Better, uh… Keep stomping!
The swarm has 6 HP. The group takes 2 damage for each post that the swarm hasn't been wiped out yet.

A sudden cold snap whisks through the desert. There’s a n** in our nose, a chill in your bones and your cheeks are just a little more vibrant in hue. Fortunately, it doesn’t seem to be much more than a quick blast of frigid air.
This weather effect will remain in play until the next dice are rolled.

Plop. Plop. Something drops from the sky, landing over the hill. Another flops into the sand nearby, making an unpleasant squelching noise. Plop—splat. At your feet, the grey, gooey eye of a fish stares back up at you. Plop. A mackerel. Plop-plop. A few sardines. Plop plop plop plopplopploploplopopop—FISH RAIN!
This weather effect will remain in play until another weather effect is rolled. Players may roll 2d4 for their regular item, location and lusus encounters, but will be plagued with a constant fishy invasion until then.

Through the desert there aren’t many troll dwellings. You do, however, manage to find a long abandoned hive, and decide to continue the search while in a more protected position.
Your group can do two 2D4 rolls while searching the hive. Weather encounters triggered during this time are dispelled immediately, as the group is considered to be sheltered from them at this time.

The peace in the desert seemed too good to be true. Turns out that nice quiet spell was just the calm before the storm – or maybe all of the other weather effects were just too busy getting sucked in to that giant TORNADO straight ahead to do you any harm.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1 or a 6 are rolled on a D6.

Passing through the desert, the only thing that is particularly interesting is the grim landmark of a set of lusus bones half-buried in the desert sand. This is not the lusus you’re looking for! Carry on.
Look, there’s a little troll skeleton beside them... Aww!

The pitter-patter of drizzly rain dot the sand with dark freckles. It’s pleasant at first, but soon the rain picks up pace. A roar of rolling thunder heralds a torrential rainstorm! Soon thick, heavy raindrops coat every surface in sight.
This weather effect will remain in play until a 1, 3, or 5 are rolled on a D6.
