The doctors were astounded by his progress, really. The rapidity by which Alistair's broken arms healed was a surprise to everyone, himself included. Of course, that he was powering up occasionally - even without going out - just to see if that accelerated the process likely helped.
He was back at the hospital, with Lance, to get the damn casts off so that he could finally use his hands again.
"I'm sorry for making you come here again, but it is nice to have you here for moral support," he said, casting a smile over at his boyfriend.

"I ought to take your pen away." The blonde grumbled, keeping his voice low as they sat in the room. Maybe he'd do just that. He'd check with Leto first, see what her thoughts were on it. ....And then maybe he'd just go ahead and do it anyway. "I can not believe you even did that. What if one of them was close by when you did that. You could have lead them there." The teen hissed quietly, sulking further into his chair.

"Oh, don't," Alistair grumbled. "If I'd sensed an Order aura, I would've powered right back down. And besides, it got these off quicker, didn't it?" He pointed out, and despite the annoyance in his tone, he couldn't stop grinning.
There was a knock at the door, and the doctor came in, carrying a small saw. "I imagine you're well and ready to have these off, Mr. Holmes?" He asked. Alistair let out an exhale of breath.
"You have absolutely no idea."

"That is not the point." Came the snap, which was followed by a scowl. "They would have been snooping around regardless. What would have happened if they came back." The knock at the door effectively silenced the blonde only causing him to grumble and sink even further into his chair.

Alistair rolled his eyes, holding out his arms so that the cast could be taken off. It was, at least at first, alarming to see the skin underneath 0 it was dry, peeling, and generally thoroughly unattractive. But then, it had also been wrapped in casts for a month.
He wrinkled his nose. "Well, that's not pretty."
"It's normal," the doctor said, and he patted Alistair's shoulder gently. "Come back in a week or so to do a followup, and try to take it easy on those arms, yeah?" Alistair nodded, and the doctor left.
"Please, feel free to continue lecturing," the brunet said, as he slid off the examination bed, "I'm all ears."

The blonde just sat and scowled at Alistair through the whole procedure, only stopping long enough to physically flinch as they pulled out the mini saw. He rolled his eyes when Ali hoped down. "That mean's no, you are not all ears." Lance jammed his arms into the pocket of his hoodie as he stood, finally released of the confines of both the chair and that room all together.

Alistair huffed and shook his head, unrolling the sleeves of his shirt and covering his arms. "I'll be taking a shower when I get home, unless that displeases you," he said. Lance's mood was very quickly rubbing off on him, making him as sullen and sulky as his boyfriend.

"Don't cop an attitude with me because I'm worried. You were already put in the hospital once." Because of me. He snapped. "Do you really want to end up back there again? Alistair, you're arms were broken. What would you have done if they had found you? You could have ended up right back in the hospital." Or worse. And that thought had the blonde scowled going again. Alistair could have been in some serious trouble all because he wasn't there to watch him out for him.
The blonde realized he had been doing a lot of that over the past few months. The shade that had choked him, it's queen, Penthesilea... And to some extent even Destiny Con. Both Lance and Damocles had failed to protect the one person he cared about.

"I'm not an idiot, Lance, no matter what you may think," Ali said sharply, "no one was going to find me. I would've had plenty of time to power down. Order senshi can't teleport or mirrorwalk - what was one going to do? Kick the damn door in?" His voice was low - you never knew who might be listening.
"I knew what I was doing, and I was not going to suffer through more time in those ridiculous casts than I had to."

If Ali expected a retort, he never got one. Lance was quiet as they left the building, and was ultimately wordless the whole drive home. He tossed his keys on the table when they walked in, and they clattered against the surface, sliding almost to the point of falling off. But the blonde didn't seem to mind, and if he was doing it to watch the brunette twitch, he didn't stick around long enough to watch his reaction. Lance simply took of down the hall towards the bedroom.

Alistair huffed and sulked the entire way back to the apartment. Once they got in, he found himself automatically moving Lance's keys so they didn't fall off the table and then stalking irritably off to go take a shower. He'd expected that Lance would be happy his casts were finally coming off. Alistair certainly had been, until dealing with a sulky, irritable boyfriend.
He took a shower, being very careful with his arms, and then got out, drying off and putting on some lotion - a recommendation he'd found before they came off.
He went back into the living room, intending to dig in and figure out why his boyfriend was so upset - because something else had to be wrong. Except Lance wasn't there.
"Lance?" There was no response, and he wasn't in the kitchen either. "Lance?" He tried again, louder this time. Still no answer. For a moment, Alistair worried his boyfriend had stalked out - until he opened the door to their bedroom, and there he was.

Lance had sprawled out on his side of the bed, his head half buried in a pillow as he stared rather listlessly at the wall in front of him. He made no noise when Ali called, nor did he move when he heard the shuffling of feet over carpet and the eventual dip of the mattress.
The blonde was tired, incredibly tired. Both mentally and physically. His limbs ached and felt like lead. And maybe he was only noticing it now because he no long had to do everything around the house.
Lance just sighed, before closing his eyes and nuzzling further into the pillow.

Alisair settled on the bed next to Lance, and rather than say anything, he reached out and gathered his boyfriend into his arms, pulling Lance into a partial sitting position against his chest and holding him close. It strained, a little, on unwilling, atrophied muscles, but it was something he'd wanted to do for a month while he couldn't really move his arms and had to be careful and avoid clonking his boyfriend with his casts.
"I love you, you know," he said, nuzzling his face into Lance's hair. "Even when you're driving me nuts."

Unfortunately for Alistair, Lance was pretty much dead weight as he rolled him over. Only moving enough to effectively hide his face in his boyfriend's collar. He said nothing, the only noise Alistair got was the release of a slow, deep breathe and that was it. The blonde had half a mind to shrug off the arms that rested around him. But that required moving, thinking. And Lance just didn't have the will power in him to do either.

Alistair frowned worriedly. "Lance? Please, talk to me." This was probably one of the scariest things he'd ever seen. His fingers went to gently stroke Lance's hair, and he nuzzled his face against the top of his boyfriend's head. Normally people were easy for him, but Lance had always been hard, and so he was in "try everything" mode.
