Otto rubbed his reddened forehead, slowly scuffing his feet down the empty hall. His run in with Caelius had earned him a swift trip face first into a concrete wall, coupled with a discouraging speech from his majesty. It had been the kind of speech Otto had left Death to run from. He ran from a lot of things, and Caelius knew it. Mentally, emotionally, and even on missions he would physically run from danger.

Why did he think becoming a Sun would be beneficial to anyone? All he was good at was running away, and that served no purpose whatsoever.

For now, he shuffled his way to the infirmary to get some painkillers for his sudden headache.

Call it luck, or coincidence, or whatever you like, but Peyton was on her way into the dorms as Otto was on his way out. She spotted him at a distance, and there was a grin on her face, hand raised and waving, before she was close enough to see the redness of his forehead and his expression. Her smile wilted around the edges as they drew level, and she put a hand out to catch his arm, bodily stepping in front of him to make him stop so she could look up at him. "Hey, are you okay?"

A gentle hand moved to touch the one rubbing his head, and she moved it aside so she could see the mark. An angry looking bump stared back at her, and at it's center a bruise was already forming. Sucking a breath through her teeth she winced and dropped her hand.

"Damn, that's a goose egg." She pulled in a long breath and let it out all at once, then stepped to the side so he could continue on his way to the infirmary, only now he had his cousin in tow.

Suddenly, there was a cousin on him. At first his muscles tensed at her touch, slowly relaxing soon after. "M'fine." He lied, his gaze flicking to the side as she examined the damage. He hadn't even considered what his head looked like. He just knew it hurt a lot. If it was as loud as her expression told it to be, he'd have to start wearing his hats even lower to cover it up. Or... a bandaid, he supposed.

Otto pressed onward once more with Peyton at his side.

"Guessin' you ain't busy.." Since she seemed to disregard whatever plans she'd had to follow him.

She let it go, knowing he wasn't fine, but recognizing the tone. It was one of her favorites. Maybe stubbornness ran in the family.

"No, not really. I was just gunna go read, but.." Her voice trailed off as she lifted a hand to gesture in the general direction of his forehead. "This seems a little more important."

She was frowning as she looked up at him, though her focus seemed to be on the spreading bruise. "Must have been rally something to have gotten you that good through your shield. I've seen bumps like that, sometimes there's concussions attached." Her arms crossed, and now it was her turn to be stubborn. "Which means you're gunna be stuck with me for a while." Tone implied there would be no wiggle room on this point.

Otto looked to be sulking, but it was likely due to the increasingly painful headache, and not present company. "It was Caelius." He answered readily, his voice brimmed with dread. "Gave me the 'talk' for ditchin' Death."

He wasn't too upset that he was stuck with Peyton for now.

Some of the color seemed to drain from tanned features at the mention of the Death Lead's name. She'd never been directly at the mercy of his temper, but she'd seen first had what he was capable of. "Say no more, you're lucky to have walked away." Taym had just gotten out of the infirmary after Caelius lost his temper at him. She considered the lead a very very dangerous individual.

"Is he part of why you switched divisions?" She couldn't blame him if it was. Taym had also made sounds about maybe looking into jumping ship and moving to Moon.

"Yeah.." He murmured quietly. He'd had run ins like this with Caelius numerous times, and this had definitely been one of the less painful ones.

"But he saw right through my reasons and let me have it, verbally anyway. All things considered he coulda done me in like he tried to do last time this happened." The circumstances had been different, and he'd have died had Sam not stepped in that day.

"Honestly, I dunno why I bothered switchin'..."

A concerned frown was turned up to the taller blonde. "I hope he loses interest." She wasn't sure how likely that was, but she knew that Cael didn't usually mess with hunters outside of his own division unless they did something stupid to catch his attention. If Otto could get off the Death Lead's radar, he'd be.. safe. As safe as any of them ever were.

Peyton had already had a healthy fear of Caelius since after the battle royal, but it grew with each instance of violence that befell someone she cared about. She knew she never wanted to be at the Death Lead's mercy, but she also wasn't sure she could just sit back and do nothing if she were present when he attacked one of her friends.

It was hard to think about. Hard to know what she would do.

So she tried to smile, moving past that topic and onto the next. "It's better in Sun," she assured him, a small hand raising to touch his arm before falling back to her side. Taym had trained to treat every touch like it would be unwelcome. It was a hard habit to break. "You'll see. Our meetings aren't suspenseful or horrifying, our Lead isn't a sociopath."

"Me too." For a man who preached how each hunter was expendable and worthless, he sure spent a lot of time fussing over their affairs.

The touch was barely minded if even noticed. With friends like Eva and Nevada, a brief touch on the arm was nothing. "No, but he is a certified nutjob." He often wondered how someone like Allan rose to power. Or if it was the job that did in his mental stability.

Pey smirked, rolling her shoulders in a shrug. "Yeah, maybe. But I'll take a happy, friendly, caring nutjob over a sociopathic sadist any day." Because that was how she was beginning to see the Death Lead. Sure he was strong, smart, efficient. There were reasons he'd climbed that ladder all the way to division lead, but she had to wonder if he maintained that role because he was really the best man for the job, or because everyone else was too afraid to cross him.

"I hear that." Otto grumbled, turning as they finally reached the Life labs infirmary. All he really needed was a bandaid and an A-OK on the concussion front. It was best not to take naps if he was indeed concussed.

Otto strolled on in. The verdict was likely fine, considering the Fear shield usually repaired most things that threatened his life.
