Caravan Raid

Solo or Group Adventure
Must be a Drakein

Rating: User Image
Reward: 1 Ayrala Dragon Orb for each participant.

You are sneaking into a Caravan at night for a raid. What you are there for is up to you, tasty food, materials, precious metals and stones, or just raiding for the fun of it.

As you slink along the outside looking for your prize you spot an Apprentice's carelessly lost Dragon Orb laying underneath a wagon.
If there is a group, you spot an open bag lying on the ground with an orb laying just inside the opening of the bag.

Alone: How do you go about retrieving the orb? Do you sneak in or barge in blatantly and rely upon speed and strength to get you out?
Group: Do the rest of you go about stealing what you came about while one attempts to be a distraction and one goes to grab the bag of orbs? Or do you all try sneaking?

Sneaking:: (All who try sneaking must roll)
Roll a d100::
80-100 :: You are successful in sneaking and get out scotch free
21-79 :: You get to the orb without being spotted, but are seen as you try to leave. RP your escape.
1-20 :: You get spotted on your way there and must RP your snagging the orb and your escape.

Barging in/Decoy::
There is no roll for this, but you must RP an encounter with the caravan's people. Do you try to intimidate them? Or just rush in and out and hope you and your companions all get out safely. How do you try to preoccupy the caravan people while your buddies sneak in and raid? If one of your companions tries to sneak but gets caught, do you run to help them or try to drive off the two-leggers and let your friends escape?

Have fun with this one. There are so many ways that this can go, so feel free to do as weird of stuff as you want! You may RP a fight with the caravan people: you won't need to roll for that fight nor will you get any EXP, but it is another option to play around with.

The Caravan Raid

They really were a weird looking lot, weren't they? She'd heard of two-legs before, had seen a couple of their bodies sink down into her territory before, but never before in such good condition. Whenever things that had drowned made it to the deep sea they were usually in terrible shape given all that had happened to them before reaching her. Getting to see them here, alive and whole, it was a strange new experience and one that she meant to savor. It was just a shame that a good portion of those that were working this caravan were male. It made sense though, at least in her mind, they should be working like this. Males could be pretty useless where she was from, they were smaller and therefore were made only to stay home with the young. Here though they were the ones put to work, made to drive the caravans, to deliver goods, while their females were allowed to relax.

It was a nice change of pace though not one Khaldera would be interested in, she was a fighter after all. She'd rather be out and about, training hard and preparing for the day when she was to take over her clan, to lead them, and to keep them safe from the horrors that lived in the deep ocean. Before she was able to do that though she was made to go on her odessy of sorts. All of the females of her clan did so, going forth from the deep water, into shallow waters, onto the land, places that would test their mettle and prepare them for the future. She would fight hard so that she could take her place when the time came but for today she was content with just studying these creatures. They were so unlike anything she'd ever seen before after all... but that was a thought that ended up a fletting one, one that was utterly thrown aside when she saw it, a dragon orb!

Oh the stories that she had been told about those, how important they were, that a Merkora such as herself needed to keep her eyes peeled for them, how they were the key to 'true power' that few of her kind were able to get their claws on. There was only one sort of dragon in the ocean after all and they could be a bit of trouble to take down for their orbs but for those who left the water there was the ability to get ahold of such orbs. It was one of the reasons why they sent on such a journey. Now, laying there on the ground not that far away, was one of those beautiful orbs. All she had to do was take it! As though a bunch of worthless, soft, ill equiped males would be able to stop her from doing so she thought to herself as she started forward.

Khaldera knew full well that there was no reason for her to skulk about in the shadows, no reason for her to hide, because she would be spotted regardless. She was after all littered with speckling that made her hide look like the night sky. She was hard to miss as she strode forward toward where the small group of squishy two-legs were sitting around, chatting about the day's events. She would give them more to talk about she thought to herself arrogantly, tail swishing behind her. As she got closer to them, to the point that she was certain that she had their full attention, she set to swaying her glowing lure back and forth in a hypnotic manner. Back and forth, back and forth, watch the lure, don't see what else she was up to, just keep your eyes locked, what good two legs they were she thought to herself, pleased with the manner in which they continued on starring until she had the fins on her tail wrapped around that glittering, silver orb, and then she merely continued on her way.

The hypnotic state that the group of men had been in faded pretty soon after she stopped though it took them a bit to recover from it. Not that it mattered to her, by the time they were really with it and ready to try to defend themselves against her she was already long gone. Why fight when you didn't have to? Better to save herself for the real battles to come instead of straining herself against what amounted to lunch. Diving deep into the waters not far from where the caravan had been standing the Merkora then turned her attention to the orb she'd taken. It was the first one she'd ever been able to claim as her own and it was so very beautiful, as though she'd plucked a star from the sky, "I need more of these." She mused to herself before swimming off. She had to find a good place to hide the orb, not wanting it to be stolen back by anyone before she'd been able to gather herself a horde of orbs. As far as the stories went to gain 'true power' she would need a mountain of such orbs. One was a good first step but it was but the first of many, many orbs she'd need to collect. No reason to get ahead of herself even if taking the orb had been exhilarating!
