Are you a Plotter or a Seater?
I'll plot for sixty pages before I ever start drafting.
I outline a little bit and have the next chapter in mind.
I'll write down an idea, but I prefer to let the story tell itself.
Thinking about it too much kills the story; I never write ahead.
I tape a pen to my butt so I can literally write by the seat of my pants.

I've been to panels and had professors ask me:

"Are you a plotter or a seater?"

Plotters plot out their stories and characters. Outlines, plot sketches, character profiles. They can tell you how it ends before its written.

Seaters write "by the seat of their pants," starting with page one, on page one. They let the inspiration and the story sweep themselves away.

Which are you? How has it made you a stronger writer? Or, what problems do you find because of the way you write?

I'll write my essential idea of the story down, so while I'm writing I don't forget, but I like going with the flow and my stories and papers are alright, but I feel if i were to plot out everything it would be way better but then again I like how I let my stories just flow

I'm a Seater. I don't like to, at first, give my characters too much character. Then I let the inspiration work through me. Sometimes, at the end, they turn out completely different than when I had started.

I'm a bit of both. I'm mostly a seater though. I think of the main plot (how it starts and possibly one or two middle events, and then the end) and then as I write, I just think up stuff as I go along. I come up with huge events here and there, but 99% of the time I'll just write as I go along.

I'm a plotter for the most part, but I dunno if it counts if I add to plots from other characters though.

I do have some originals, but they are basically offspring of other characters.

Example:

Character name: Ochru Hiwatari.
Birthday: September 1, 2006
Father's name: Kai Hiwatari (beyblade)
Mother's name: Empress Dee

Story of him so far:

A farmer in the land of mineral town taking after his father's skills. Already married to a woman named Harriet, this boy has had some troubles early in life. He has a son named Keitaro who is also a farmer. Keitaro, however, farms in Flower Bud Village.

Ochru had been forced to become a tranny in the sense that in order to survive, he had to get female parts as well as keep his male gender.

It is said that it is because of his mother that this had to take place. Her Tuffle geneology doesn't always work with her sons. Not surprising since Dee has been with over 70 guys including Kai.

Ochru is dedicated to his work, however, and rivals the main HQ of Hiwatari Farms incorporated for profits. He and his dad have a constant competition going on who can be the better farmer.

Kai became a full-fledged farmer after retiring officially from the sport of Beyblade and is enjoying life. His bit beast Dranzer is a big help to Kai in the fields.

Mixture of both, really. I have an idea of what the story consists of, and when certain things happen, but i mainly fill in the blanks between major events.

But I have over a thousand computer pages of notes regarding culture, characters, settings, technology, history, etc.

The notes are longer than the book. XD
