Wingleader: O'ail (f) of bronze Absoth (NPC) All round action woman O’ail, nearing forty, and Absoth love nothing so much as they love their work and combat; she is known as one of the finest warriors in the Weyr and respected as ‘one of the men’, not that she especially appreciates this. She tries to have a friendly rivalry with G’vian but he doesn’t quite seem to catch on. She also tries to attract the attention of Y’in but sadly Y’in seems totally oblivious to her advances. It is well known that O’ail doesn’t drink alcohol, preferring tea; she says she has quite enough fun in life without drink or drugs! Having Impressed from the Stands as a drudge she is sympathetic to the downtrodden in life and despite how high she has risen she has not forgotten her roots and is unfailingly kind and respectful to absolutely everyone. She's a very tall woman, 6'1" barefoot, with muscles as fine as her bronze's and very impressive curves. O'ail is the only female wingleader in High Reaches. She owns a friendly green firelizard named Zippy.

Murder most foul! Members of 3rd-1 deal with murder in all of its forms. They work closely with Hold guards; many find this a rather frustrating necessity (as Hold guards tend to be uneducated and lacking in specialised investigative skills) and would rather do without them save as eyes on the ground with local knowledge. Third Wing often work in three small teams (one under the wingleader, two under the two wingseconds) dealing with different crimes across the territories. As a combat wing they are also called in to help when serious clashes with bandits or other unsavoury types are on the cards. While they're considered a solid, respectable wing they are seldom on the Weyrleader's honours list. 3rd-1 has more female riders than any other combat wing, no doubt thanks to its current wingleader.
O'ail became wingleader in turn 194: the previous wingleader and the other wingsecond died during the plague, securing her promotion once things calmed enough to consider such matters.
