Ko’ren is ambitious and a bit ruthless, it’s no secret he has his eye on the post of Weyrleader. Newly promoted by T'gall after the last elections and aged just thirty four he is still getting to grips with his role but his exceptionally sharp mind and adaptability have seen him through so far. Ko'ren demands a lot from his riders and hates to have their glory - his glory! - snatched by first wing. He encourages his riders to be competitive with one another, often pitching the three squads against one another in a variety of contests; swordplay, archery, flight manoeuvres, and so on. He believes that in competing with one another in a friendly environment they will be better equipped to compete with First Wing, and best them wherever possible. He is a fairly small man with a lean wiry strength and great skill with a light sword; he is proud of the fact that he can now consistently beat G'vian in a sparring match. He's less pleased that O'ail is at least his equal in combat. With high cheekbones and full lips along with his striking blue eyes and glossy black hair he is widely considered something of a looker. He has two firelizards, a pair of bronzes, and attracts some derision for the extravagance but only behind his back!

Pirates and bandits are the focus of High Reaches' Second Wing. They spend a lot of time rooting out these criminals, working closely with Hold forces (to the frustration of many riders, as Hold guards tend to be uneducated and lacking in specialised investigative skills) to discover patterns and then hunting down wrongdoers. While not as glamorous, prestigious a posting as First Wing this is the next best thing in the opinion of many; there's still a lot of action, and a lot of glory to be had provided First Wing doesn't get involved! Second Wing will also find themselves called in to help in the case of large scale combat. Like 1st wing there are a lot more men than women in 2nd wing but it is not quite so unbalanced and there is a more average proportion of bronze riders.

Ko'ren became wingleader in turn 3: he was promoted by T'gall when the bronze rider - the previous wingleader of Second Wing - became Weyrleader. Ko'ren was previously one of T'gall's wingseconds.
