User Image The day was long, slow, though the storm moved with a quick haste. Years of practice made this mare one with the storms she followed. The wind started to chill, the weather was starting to show its spring force. It was the best time of year to ride the strongest of storms.

Those red eyes seemed to scan the horizon. She was well rested, having stopped for a few days to relax her body. Those dark wings spanned against the flickering sky. Like a touch of darkness to the gray that cast over the once cold blue. The wind rushed over her wings, her ears folded back against her head. The right wing shifted her body went into a spinning dive before the heavy muscles pulled back, swooping into a straight glide just over the ground.

She moved with the wall of rain, watching the dry ground meet the rain that flooded over it in a heavy beat. Thunder rolled like the deep beat of a drum. Lightning scattered from the sky, but she knew exactly what way to go to dodge it, she could feel the energy single along her wings, telling her one was going to strike near. She never understood why she was able to know the storm the way she did, but inside she was the darkest of storms, waiting to set aflame the world, to drown it out, to cause the destruction that seemed to build in her.

She would shift from the glide, once more allowing those bands of feathers and muscles do what they did best and pick her back into the height of the sky so she would look out over the world and watch. the best seats in the house, you could not get any better.

There was something about a storm during the day that did not hold up to the night, to much light, the world dimmed the flickering shimmer that the storm produced. It was almost boring in her eyes, it did not lower the risk, just the beauty. The land was welcoming the waters for spring so that the green could grow and a new season of life could begin.

Stormwild barely left the herd grounds anymore; especially not alone. After what happened last time when she was looking for her estranged step-son, she had no real desire to, either. Thankfully their herd ground was large and expansive, and full of every creature comfort she could ask for. The mountains were high and treacherous, but the valleys in between offered the respite of thick trees, cool water, and heavy foliage.

It had been a long, cold, dry winter. But spring was finally starting to break over the lands and Stormwild was eager to meet it. Rainfall and thunderstorms were rather frequent in the mountains; especially with Thunderstorm, the Angeni of Storms himself, was her own son... but when the natural storms came, it brought with it a wild and unpredictable air. Cool and alive; yet dangerous and beautiful.

It had been far too long since Stormwild had really stretched her wings. The thought of taking a long flight in the coming rainstorm was an invigorating one. She left the thickets of the mountain valleys are made her patrols around the outskirts of their territory. The rain began to pelt down - soaking through her fur and feathers. It made her wing muscles work twice as hard, and the burn of the effort made Stormwild feel like a filly again. Her long mane stuck to her face and neck but she didn't care. She let her giant Elder wings spread like the eagles and she made long, large stokes across the stormy sky.

The rain was cool and refreshing, but as the lightning flashed, she thought she saw something else among the clouds. Her eyes narrowed, every vigilant. It was most likely one of her own patrols, but she circled in to investigate.

Thundara was almost distracted in her thoughts when she happened to notice those large wings. It made her double take. She shifted her ears slightly, though not enough to pet the pelting rain inside. Those had to be the largest wings she had ever seen. her flight changed, moving through the clouds, dancing with the rain, letting the wind take her. Those red eyes scanning this mare. Something was odd, that was for sure, most lept away from the storm. Why would this soq risk the storm like this.

Those wings flexed, her silluette dancing agasint the clouds. She would finally go in for a dive, lowering herself down into the heavyness of the storm, closer to the other. She had no idea why She was doing this, maybe it was the fact that the creatues intrest was peeked, which was something to say for this creature. Those eyes would scan the mare as she slowed herself, at least close enough the two could wasily see what they were up agasint.

She was slightly envous of those wings, so strong, so beautiful. But she did not let it distract her for long, those eyes came to meet the mare's, a almost chanange in her gaze, behind questions. Her voice was suprizingly soft for her first apperince. "You are an interesing creature. Not many of our kind would brave such winds. Weak folls the lot." She spoke up a little so her voice could be heard over the winds and the rumbling in the background.

The other approached, and Stormwild could soon make out that it was a mare, and not one of her own herd. Though, she found herself actually second-guessing that. She could have easily been mistaken for Vortex's sister, or Thunderbird's daughter. She looked like a duck in water as she weaved through the thundering rain, riding the rain and the winds with expert precision. Her coat was dark, almost camouflaged against the clouds, with stormy markings.

But there was something off about her eyes. They were blood red, and burned with a passion that was almost alarming. "You're right," Stormwild called back. "Only those with the confidence to match their respect for the storms could successfully navigate these winds," she said. Her voice was thick, but soft; like velvet. Upon closer inspection, the larger mare had the signs of being a mature one; her nose was criss-crossed with old, healed scars. Her eyes looked wise and intelligent, but had some winkles at the creases.

"What brings you in to the realm of the Thunderbird?" she asked. It was accusatory, but it was said with authority.

The mare was almost silenced, but only almost. It was hard to keep that wagging tongue down. After all, until this time, she had figured herself the only creature, besides some Kalona that were brave enough to face such dangerous conditions. That honeyed voice seemed to change slightly. No longer shocked at the sight of the mare, now she had indeed regained herself. "I go where I want, and where the storm takes me."

She did indeed go anywhere the storm did. The small knot under her wing was from facing a Kalona in a air battle and losing. The wing hurt a lot more since that, and breaks became more frequent, but it still noted she was not afraid to challenge, even when she knows she will lose.

"So then there are more of us that do face such dangers. There might be hope yet for our kind, but I will not hold my breath, lest I fall from the shy dead from waiting." A snort rolled from her nose as she almost rolled her eyes. She did a good job of stopping herself though. She readjusted, flying around the mare, at a fair distance, mainly looking her over.

Red eyes burned with curiosity, something new for her. It lead to questions, how long had they been here? How many was there? Did they know of where she came from? But those eyes held all the questions, and her lips none. She was to proud to ask questions, or maybe it was to stubborn, both ran hand in hand after all.

Stormwild blinked at the sharp-tongued retort, surprised. But she recovered quickly, refuses to back away from a challenge. Like Balrog, sometimes all a hot temper needs is a bit of compassion to cool it. "Well this day, the storm has brought you to the Herdlands of the Thunderbirds. I will escort you to safe passage through our lands if you like, but if you want to stay and rest awhile, you may find some kindred spirits, Mare. We are children of the Thunderbirds, and I am the dam of the Spirit of Storms himself. Perhaps this storm has brought you here for a reason."

Thundara caught herself thinking about the offer that was given to her. After all, the storms had always been her guiding grace, the only thing she could depend on in this world, it took her in when no soq would. She took a few moments to reply, mainly because she was not sure what she should say. The storm did bring her here, and the thought of actually meeting someone like her, who might know where she came from almost excited her.

Red orbs seemed to show more and more the questions inside, but finally her eyes would shift to the mares, staring into them with that dark intent. She had an idea that could give her gain, and, she was pretty good at using others.

"I would like to stay, at least until the next storm that passes this way." She would let the worlds roll out of her mouth with a soft tone. She would just have to grit her teeth and mettle though. if this helped her remember where she came from, who her family was, it would be worth it.

"But I do not know about Kindred Spirits." Now all there was, was to see if she can get away without causing to much trouble. Then again, trouble followed her, or was it she brought it with her.

"Well, I'll let you make that decision on your own," she said, referring to the kindred spirits. She weaved around the mare in the wind, keeping close enough to talk but not so close that she would feel threatened. "But of course, I'd be happy to host you, and keep you sheltered, until you decide to leave again." She made a large circle above her, motioning towards the mountains. "These mountains are hard to climb; it makes a nice refuge for those of us blessed with flight. There's a meadow between the highest peaks, if you want to come see."

If you want, I can ask Sabin if she wants to being in Balrog and/or Thunderbird, if you want her to meet some of the others?

Those red orbd kept locked on Stormwind. She made sure she did not look away. She was not good with others, if that was not already noticeable. She mauled over the mare's words. There was something just to inviting going on here. She felt like it was likely some kind of trap, to pin her in, make her stay. Maybe this was more than met the eye, but she was the kind to brave things. In her eyes the world was always out to get her, and her to destory it piece by piece.

She would finally glance away, towards the mountain. Her head cantered and her wings would shift, flying in a little closer, and a bit higher to get a good look to see if this was indeed true. Trust was not an easy thing for her. Those wings stabled her some before she turned to the mare.

"After you." She would let the mare guide her while she thought of some of the outcomes that could come from this.

Kamiki
That would be awesome.

Stormwild made a wide circle overhead, changing her position against the strong winds to head back towards the mountains that the Thunderbirds called home. She should show this new mare to Balrog, to see what he thought. She also thought it might be interesting to see what her son, Thunderbird, thought of the little stormy mare she had found.

She beat her wings and lead the way to the treacherous mountain peaks. It would be nearly impossible for non-winged Soquili to scale these mountains, at least easily, but nestled between the jagged cliffs and snowy peaks was a series of well protected evergreen thickets, in which Stormwild and her family called home.

Stormcloud adored this weather. Her eyes flashed in time with the lightning as it arced over the clouds and she could feel the roll of thunder echo through her body as she soared above the herdgrounds, eyes scanning the skies and land below intermittantly.

She never thought she'd pick a single location to call her home. She usually went where the storms took her. But this alpine herdground - or... perhaps her mate... seemed to act as a lightning rod to the storms themselves. Barely a week went by without the skies clouding over in a glorious storm. It was like she had found the heart or birthplace of the storms themselves, and then... Stormcloud knew she found her home. Found the reason that she was traveling... And the stallion that she felt like she was born to find.

The herd did not confine her - it let her roam. In fact, the task she had taken upon herself - patrol - it called for her skill in flying - particularly during the frequent storms. She knew her mate, Thunderbird, was out here as well, circling, like she was - adding an extra set of eyes on the territory.
She caught a shape silhouetted against the flash of lightning - and recognized it immediately as Stormwild - but then, antoher flash and she spotted another figure flying behind her.

She angled her wings and flew closer to investigate, wanting to make certain that Stormwild was aware of her follower.

Thundara kept those red eyes watchful, her frame shifted to keep the wind at a helpful angle. Her eyes seemed to distracted looking at the mountains to see the new mare at first, though finally a flash light would light up the other mare in the corner of her eyes, making her head tilt, looking over to catch another in the sky.

It was at this point she seemed a little hesitant. Was she being led into a trap? Those eyes narrowed slightly as she closed in the gap between her and the elder. She was soaked, slightly cold, but full of energy. Her eyes would shift between the two. She wanted to be ready just in case something bad was to happen.

Sabin Duvert
Oh we got these two from the same event, no wonder they look alike XD

Stormwild saw her daughter-in-law in the flash of the lightning and smiled to herself. This mare she had found reminded her so much of Stormcloud, she figured a formal introduction would be warranted.

She angled lower and landed into one of the alpine thickets, nestled between the jagged peaks. She watched both Thundara and Stormcloud, hoping they would follow her lead so she could introduce them.

"Are you well, Stormwild?" Stormcloud called out over the rain. But as her large alpha angled down towards the meadow and looked towards the mare following her, she eased. She knew she was there, at least.

She angled her wings, starting a spirialing descent to join the pair. As the lightning flashed, she got a better look at the mare, and found herself surprised by the apparent similarities. Her coloration and .. did those markings not resemble stormclouds?

She landed fifty feet or so from the elder mare, drawing her wings in close to her body, her ears canted forward curiously.

Actually, Stormcloud was from the quest custom raffle in June the same year :3 Her found date is written in the day-month format X3.

User ImageThundara's eyes would not stop slipping back and forth between the two, but as the elder came down to a land she would follow, allowing that gaze to focus on the ground. Landing with a bit of grace she would take a few steps to get her land legs as those black wings folded up against her body.

Those eyes wondered over the new mare, those markings, that color. Her ears perked upon her head rose up. Her body would stretch ever so slightly before she would address them.

"I take it this is one of the members of the herd?" She asked as she moved in closer to the elder mare, those red eyes now locked on the new mare.

She got a better look at just how alike her and this mare were. It was almost shocking, but, she hid it well. She was quite kept together, her movements proper, as if better than anyone here. Then again, in her mind, she was.
