'Creative writing, the best class of the day,' she thought to herself, resting her head in one hand and tapping her pencil eraser to her desktop with the other. Sage favored this period more than others not because of the material, but a certain student teacher (and total hunk!): James Cheney. When she found that he was going to help teach the somewhat interesting course, she wasted no time in signing up. Not necessarily the best tactic if her focus would have been to primarily learn and not spend most of the class daydreaming, but at least she was getting the best of both worlds, right?

She smiled to herself, envisioning their formal introduction for the millionth gazillionth time - chocolate locks tossing in the wind, the tie to his suit whipping this way and that. Then he brings those darkly tinted aviators to his face, almost completely shadowing his gorgeous emerald eyes, and smiles, "Call me Cheney, James Cheney." Guh! It was enough to make her heart flutter!

Grinning widely at her desk, Sage returned to the real world which was oddly quiet for this point in what should have been the day's lecture. Her cheeks reddened and smile quickly faded when she glanced up to see her classmates and crush staring at her, waiting on her!

She felt herself burning with embarrassment as she spoke up, "I'm so sorry, sir. What was the question?"

Creative writing was one of James's favorite subjects to teach and quite possibly his favorite group of students. (Though he'd never say that aloud because he didn't want to seem biased.) Nothing was more encouraging then seeing young, hopeful writers blossoming under guidance from someone who had similar dreams. (Oh, how he'd love to be a published writer one day.)

It showed that what he was doing, teaching, meant something. That at the end of the day in some small way he'd made a difference. (He hardly felt that way about most aspects of his life, he clung so desperately to the good teaching did.)

Still, students that didn't pay proper attention irritated him at times, even if he kept a cool exterior. "Sage," he called for the umpteenth time. The girl had a terrible habit of day dreaming during class lately. "I was asking you to give your opinion on what makes the Hunger Games a successful book. What elements or themes that we've discussed prior are in the book."

She stuttered "Th-themes?" Sage scrambled through her notes.

Certain she'd found her answer (at least, what she hoped could be formulated into a plausible explanation), she blurted out, "I believe that there is a glaring theme in the Hunger Games book: the inequality of the rich and poor. With the huge diversity in wealth as depicted in the series, it's greatly similar to the gap in our nation's monetary status in our present economy." Hopefully that answer was acceptable and made her sound like less of an idiot.

James watched her with a look of skepticism, even as she rattled off a quick answer to sate him. "It goes deeper than the gap between the rich and the poor. It expands into the idea and concept of power," he said, turning his attention back to the class as a whole rather than the individual. He moved back to the front of the room and towards the whiteboard. He uncapped one of the expo markers and wrote the word THEMES, underlined it and wrote Class Status - Power.

"Power is often held by the wealthy," he explained glancing back at his students. "In this case by the president of the capitol. Power in books like the Hunger Games is often political. Give me another theme showcased by the books Sage."

Cheeks lightly flushed, Sage lowered her eyes from his and thought to herself, 'Definitely need to start paying more attention...'

She breathed a quiet sigh of relief as he addressed the class and then turned to the whiteboard, just long enough for her to sneak a glimpse at her teacher's fine back side.

'But that a**, though~' And there it was. The reason she'd have difficulty retaining most of the material taught during this class: not just his perfect bottom, but everything about Mr. Cheney- no, James.

Thankfully she caught her name this time around. She quickly looked up and blurted out the first theme she remembered, "Yes, sir! Love!"

Oh, god, why did she pick that one?! And was it just how she'd heard herself or did she raise her pitch WAY too much for that response?

She dropped her head in an effort to keep the class from seeing her brightly radiating face. It took all she had not to shove her face in her palms from the embarrassment.
