Roland was standing before a door, Peyton's door. A small frown on his face. Phone in hand he had debated sending a text but that just seemed lazy. Instead he was standing there a bag slung over his shoulder as he suddenly started knocking at the door.
"Uh hey? Peyton? You in?"

Peyton answered promptly, door opened enough for her to peek out, then completely as she noticed who was standing in the hall. "Hey Ro," she smiled at him, leaning shoulder and hip against the door frame. "How's it going?" A flick of pale eyes took in the bag on his shoulder. "Whatcha got?"

Roland relaxed just a bit as she opened the door, leaning casually against it as she inspected his bag and inquired it's contents.
"Been better been worse but that's pretty much the normal around here." He shifted the bag off his shoulder shrugging a bit, "Clothes actually. Something a bit more fitting for what I wanted to talk to you about."

"Sounds about right." Days filled with ups and downs, that was Deus Ex. She watched the bag as it slipped off his shoulder, then flicked her eyes back up to his face, widening them a touch in a silent question. "Oh? What's on your mind?"

Roland only nodded at the agreement, when she finally raised her eyes in question, and even then asked Roland only smiled a bit. "Don't I owe you a burrito?" He unzipped the bag revealing clothes that where far more suited for a warm sunny day then the cold chill of their strange little island.
"So... you wana go down south the boarder a bit?"

Roland had probably been expecting smiles, but as he unzipped the bag to flash warm weather clothes while reminding her he owed her a lunch all she could give him was disappointment and maybe even a touch of guilt. "Lounging on a beach and eating burritos sounds wonderful, but I can't right now." Dainty fingers had knotted together across her stomach, and the toe of one boot tapped gently against the floor. "I've already used up one leave day, and the other I sort of promised to America." She offered an apologetic smile. "We could reschedule maybe?"

Roland was still smiling, he didn't start frowning till she started knotting her fingers and looking away. When she finally explained why his face had turned to a slight frown, not an angry one, just one of contemplation.
"We can... next month would work." He glanced about frowning, "But I still have a day off from Mist duties so...."

She watched for the disappointment on his face, almost wincing until only a softly thoughtful frown crossed his features. She hated seeing him down, more so being the cause of it, but he seemed to rally quickly. "A day off, huh?" A small smile flashed as she took on a considering tone, lips pursed thoughtfully. "Well we better figure out something to do, then. Can't waste a day off." Pey wasn't sure what they could do, but there had to be something. Then she had an idea. "You know, now that the kitchens are stocked up I bet they have the stuff we'd need to make tacos." If they couldn't go to Mexico, maybe Mexico could come to them?

The smile was a small one, he didn't know who or what Peyton had really been up too, it didn't matter. She was one of the better influences in his life and so he took what he could get. "Portals up means that's possible yeah, hadn't thought of that." Standing across from her he offered his free hand to her.
"So tacos it is, and misadventures."

Pale eyes lingered on that outstretched hand for a few seconds longer than she probably aught to have, and in the end bypassed it completely, instead wrapping her arm around his to begin steering him out of the dorms and towards the kitchens. "Misadventures in taco making." She gave a soft snort, laughing. "How much trouble can we possibly get in just making lunch?" Don't answer that.

The lingering caused his head to tilt ever so slightly, what was there to worry about? A moment later her arm twined around his and she was already taking the lead tugging them towards the kitchens. A small goofy grin crossing his face.
"Have you smelt fresh cooked food around here? It's like moths to a flame except the flame is tacos and the moths are really hungry food deprived hunters with pointy fighting sticks that want to steal your hard earned food."He answered that. "But that does mean getting past you which might be a problem if they aren't careful no?" But it was totes gona be okay.

"They can try," she agreed, smirking. "But you'll pull back bloody stumps. It's rude, stealing food." At one point in time she had little doubt that Roland was right, and any slight hint of fresh food would have brought their comrades en masse. Since the power had been up for a little while, and normal food had been returned to the menu, she felt it was less likely. Still, she was ready to chase away any scavengers from their lunch if need be.

Roland chuckled giving Peyton a little tug with their locked arms. "I trust you'd leave them with two nice welts for eyes?" He grinned playfully, "Assuming you could reach up high enough to thump them." that would cost him for that joke.
