Day One - DEAR PARENTS

I don't know where to start. I know this won't even get to you, but I'm still lost at words. First, I want to thank you for always being there for me, whether I realize it or not. I know you're trying your best, and I know that I only make it harder, and for that I'm sorry. You have to deal with me, and that is such a miserable thing for you to deal with. I might not always show it, I may never say it, but I LOVE YOU. Because what kind of child wouldn't? You practically dedicated the rest of your life for me, and just the fact that you didn't give me away should be enough for me to love you for eternity and beyond.

Now, I know I can be thick headed most of the time. I know I tend to loose my temper easily, and I shout back more than I should. But I want you to know this; I'm not the kind to show my feelings, it's honestly hard for me to tell how I feel. I'm literally terrified of telling someone how I feel. I know you're my parents, and I shouldn't hide anything from you. Though I still hide half of me from you. And it's just because I'm afraid of how you will react. I'm afraid you'll be disappointed. I'm afraid you'll be upset. Most of all, I'm afraid you'll be hurt. And it will be my fault.

Let me tell you this; I will love you, always. Maybe not in my words, but surely in my actions. When you see me trying to study harder, know it's because I want you to be proud. When you see me running harder, know it's because I want you to show me off to your friends. When you see me laying on the ground with my wrists slit open, know that I tried a bit too hard. You should know that it isn't your fault. It never was, and it never will be. No matter how much you actually hurt me inside, the fact that I'm destroying myself is completely my own decision. And I'm sorry, because I know that I'm bringing you down with me. No worries, though. My fake smiles will get more frequent, and my jokes will get even better. Because I owe you that. I owe you to have a happy life. And even if I can't, I'll fake it, so you'll be happy thinking I'm happy. Wouldn't that be enough? Faking happiness my whole life, to make you happy for the last few years of your life. And when you're gone, I will still keep that smile, remembering how happy you were when you were here. Because you are my sense of strength. And I am truly sorry for the pain I caused you.
