"But-" That was the final words he managed to utter out as he was rather forcefully shoved out of the laundry area. People muttering behind him about ungrateful trainees amung other things like this color will never wash out or how can she mess up three coats in a week?Quinn decided not to try his luck. He had never been to this area of Deus before, but chose to try and avoid it as much as possible from now on. (Fat chance). Either way, he stared down at his temp replacement coat. His assigned life coat was being washed now, messing it up in a failed attempt to train and a disaster with some mud and grass stains. Why deus coats were white he would never know. They told him it might take a day or two to fix, something about being behind schedyle. So they handed him this one temporarily... it was only when he was just making his way out that he noticed the emblem was wrong. When in fact this was a DEATH coat, he was about to mention it again they still pushed out the door and told it was the only one in his size. Even though they clearly just took one from the top of the 'clean' pile. Oh he knew his division was going to give him s**t over this, but rules were rules and Deus said all hunters should keep their coats on them at all times. Sighing, Quinn shrugged the coat on. It was a little large around the shoulders, but it fit well enough to pass. He wondered if he should try walking with his back towards walls for a while...

It was strangely - and disconcertingly - reminiscent of a certain Benjamin Summers recruiting the first Death Hunter he'd seen (one Gale Gentry, to be more specific). Only this time, there was no Ben (sadly) and Gale was not the one being recruited, but, in fact, the one doing the recruiting.
"Hey. You're a Death Hunter."
This was stating the obvious, seeing as how the coat the young man - who was older than Gale by a few years, it looked like - was wearing a coat that bore the Death Division emblem. The "hunter" part was a little bit of an exaggeration, since it was equally as obvious that this particular hunter was just a trainee.
Still, he was Death, and Death was what Gale needed (except the hunter kind, not the permanent-in-the-ground kind.
"I need you," said Gale, and without much of an explanation, he had wrapped his fingers around the trainee's arm and begun to tow him towards the Lighthouse. "I got a report that there was some suspicious activity off the coast of New Zealand. I can't seem to find anyone to help me, so you'll have to do; Death Hunters are the information gatherers, so even if you're a trainee, you're good to bring along."

He thought he was rather clever, turning hurt body a little to the side to try and hide the clearly mismatched emblem. Only with a few words, and a tug of a arm, Quinn found himself being herded along in the direction of the lighthouse. The other man was spouting off things about Death, New Zealand, and..? "But-" Seemed this was a common word for him today, but he was soon cut off as the other continued on about information gathering and being a trainee. Well, the shorter hunter had at least the trainee part right... "But im not-" He managed to squeeze out, staring down real quick at Gales coat which clearly said the other was not only part of Death Division, but also a high ranking one. Awhell. This was why he DIDNT want to wear the coat in the first place! Could he exactly tell this person no? That he was in fact a Life Hunter? WOuld it make that much of a difference?

Gale either didn't hear the other hunter's mumbled protests, or he chose to ignore them altogether, gently but firmly tugging him towards the Lighthouse and the portal within.
"I know you're not a full hunter," said Gale, which was the answer to the previous question - clearly he had heard him, but had misinterpreted the meaning. "That's all right, I just need another Death, and we'll be good. Everyone I know is busy, or not available, so you'll have to do."
He glanced back at him, eyebrows raised. "I'm Gale, by the way. Gale Gentry."

Every fiber of his being radiated the emotion 'nervous' as he was still pulled along, finally making it to the lighthouse. Gale would have probably picked up on this, and misinterpreted it as Quinn being a super newbie trainee, not a seasoned one. He was more afraid of what would happen if gale found out he was a Life hunter, not a Death. He didnt know Gale personally, he seemed friendly enough... in a serious way, but would that change if he knew? He could understand why Gale mistook him for a Death, the coat mishap and all. He heard that Life and Death divisions worked together a lot, would this be much different? Should Quinn just pretend to know what he was doing now, and apologize later? That seemed like the best course of action... he had tried to tell Gale the truth. "Um... Quinn McGonagall." He offered in return, eying the portal in front of them warily. "I've never been on a Death Mission before..." He wasn't lying at least. kuroopu HAH ILU i was hoping you'd add your own thing to his 'but im not' XD

If Gale had been less preoccupied by the thoughts in his head, he may have picked up on the trainee's waffling and his weak protests; but as it was, he merely wrote them off as the usual trainee jitters that always preceded missions and assignments.
"Don't worry," said Gale absently, as they stepped into the Lighthouse, where a very bored looking tech worker stood beside the portal. "It's not that difficult, we're just going to get in and check the readings, see if there's anything unusual."
He finally stopped walking, turned, and gave Quinn a slightly suspicious look.
"Wait. McGonagall? Like, Professor?"Lilwolfpard :'D;;;; ALSO FEEL FREE 2 QUOTE ZOO WHENEVER this is ur thing : DDD

At the lighthouse they ran into another short Death Hunter in a short Death Hunter coat. He looked kind of familiar and had been spotted in that last disastrous Death meeting.
"Excuse you", he scowled and his dark black eyeliner looked a little more dark black like his soul, "I was here first."

He couldnt stop the snort that resulted from Gales question, only a true fan of the books would have asked it that way. He nodded in answer. "Spelled the same way too." He had a few friends, prior to Deus, who used to call him Professor as a joke. The mission as Gale described it didnt sound too bad really. Up until this point Quinn had seen some weird things on missions... Were seemingly mundane ones, as this one seemed to be, the norm? Or more rare? Before that thought could churn a little more in his mind, a voice, followed by raccoon eyes, appeared within the lighthouse. "Oh, sorry. " he replied before even realizing what he was apologizing for even. "Wait... Is this mission first come first serve?" He looked towards Gale curiously. Hey there was another death here too, did this mean he was no longer needed?

He resisted the very strong urge to ask Quinn if he'd gotten any owls lately, Gale fighting a smile as he finally let go of the trainee's arm. Fortunately - or maybe it was unfortunately - there were plenty of other things to keep the two of them preoccupied.
Namely the dark-skinned hunter that had been at the Death meeting. Gale eyed him suspiciously.
"What are you doing here?" he said. "I've heard report of some unusual activity, possible artifact. I recruited Quinn here to help me go and fetch it. Is that a problem?" he added, with a vaguely challenging look in Oz's direction, as though he was daring him to refute this.

"Yeah," Oz replied, standing on the tips of his toes to look a little taller then Gale - but shorter than Quinn -, "that is a problem. Portal's busy, get in line." He thumbed to the growing crowd of Hunters behind Gale and Quinn who were looking at the two rather quizzacly.
One of the Hunters in line handed a ten dollar bill to another, saying something along the lines of "Okay you win."

He watched on curiously at first, eyes flicking back and forth between the two men. Did these two hate each other? It seemed there was some tension there, with the new addition feeling a need to perceive himself as taller than Gale. The fact he had to step on his tip toe to do so... Quinn decided to stay out of the intimidation party, at least. The trainee flicked his eyes back, eying the crowd of people who were suddenly piling up and staring at them? "Gale, were they always there?" He found himself asking out loud, not remembering seeing the mass of people as they approached the lighthouse. He turned back and looked at Oz next, a confused expression. His tone held no malice, but more curiosity. "Because if they are just now piling up behind us, doesn't that mean your the one keeping the portal busy, and we were next in line?" WHy should they go to the back if so? Suddenly Quinn remembered he really shouldn't be going on this mission, crap.

Gale still didn't even know Oz's name (at least, he didn't think so).
Maybe this was a good thing. Or maybe it was a very bad thing. It was difficult to tell the difference nowadays.
"Erm," said Gale, casting a glance behind him at the rows of impatient looking hunters. "No...at least, I don't recall them following us here, do you? I thought it was just the two of us for now."
His gaze slid sideways towards Oz, a trademark scowl on Gale's face. "He's got a point though, you know. We're behind you (apparently), and they're all behind us. Why are you holding up the line?"

"This is my line", Oz glowered, trying to look more menacing than Gale, with varying levels of success, though the dark black eyeliner helped, "I'm the supplier, but you wouldn't understand that. Nobody understands me."
He held up his hand with his index and middle finger. "You have two options here. One, get back in line. Two, get into the portal, get the stuff, come back, and then you guys can go on your man homo vacation or whatever. Whatever it is, I don't care, you really don't need to explain." He sized Quinn up and and down, and then crossed his arms, probably annoyed that he didn't have a hot tall boyfriend.

He tried to not react, but he couldn't help that not-so-subtle side step away from Gale that happened. It was barely any movement, but the pair probably caught it. Quinn really wanted to know why everyone thought he was gay. Oki in response, of course, showed him a mental memory of a certain AU world... "OKAY then." He randomly bursted out, cutting off that thought process abruptly and leaving the Akhlut in his mind laughing at him darkly. That was when he realized he was being watched, s**t. "....I mean. Gale, we don't need to answer him... lets just get going." He muttered, trying his best not to flush in frustration and hoping his darker skin hid it well enough.

There was now a long, long pause.
"I have a girlfriend," said Gale finally, as if this explained everything (it didn't).
