Gods.

They were morons. It wasn't that they were morons, they simply were too slow. One step behind, one step beneath, so full of themselves everything else was always a step too late.

If they died it was because they were always idiotic.

'Well that's not fair,' she laughed, and then move in a little closer, 'Why do you think they are so? What is one thing Hunters want but cannot get?'

He thought about it. His first thought was everything.

'It is to be human. To remember what it was like to have this human connection, something they've been pulled away from for so long. The longer you stay here, the less human you become.'

And that was all for the better. To be human was an annoyance, it was a cluster of attachment and emotions, to require sleep and food and luxury vulnerable to every slight chance of mood, tethered to the world struggling continuously only to be trampled by gods always and entirely powerless. Wasn't it better to be more than human.

'More than human. A god then.' An open smile. 'Gods too were created from humans.'

Were. In a world of mediocre, they broke their own chains and became something greater. That was all it took to be crowned a god.

'Yes, perhaps. But not everyone can be a god.'

I know.

Allan had really messy writing but it was the best he could do.

Simon,

It's okay, I know.

He never sent the message.

Cookies

Julie really liked cookies but she couldn't bake. It wasn't as if she couldn't bake, she just was very, very bad at following instructions, and it was easier to follow your heart and oh, baking required time.

She was patient though and waited and waited at the oven for the cookies to be ready.

She was still waiting.

Superheroes

Mark stared at the keyboard in deep intense concentration. This was the final battle between Spiderman and his archnemesis Doctor Octopus, and of course the other original characters that made up the roleplay. He had to make this count. Every single word, every single sentence he wrote was important, it defined structure and substance. It created content and gave users something to look forward to. In this world he was important.

Behind him someone was screaming and it was going to be another body count and Mark should have saved them but it would be okay. Just after this post.

Online gaming

Reine had stopped logging in so it probably meant she had quit. Justin didn't know how to quit and so he stayed.

He stayed as all the content changed and he forgot what his quest was in the first place and the only reminder in his room was an empty tub of ice cream waiting to be filled. Did old quests even matter after everyone else had moved on.

It was easy to lose purpose but it was easier to lose heart. In this world he could have done anything but he was stuck on a single quest line.

Pawns

Sam liked people as pawns. It made them easy, it made them controllable, it made them blind to her weaknesses. It made sure they didn't hurt her, because it was always easier to hurt than be hurt.

She liked pawns, but she liked some a little more, and that single weakness would be her downfall.

Queen

There was nothing Charlotte wanted in this world more than to watch others dance. Each dance told her what she needed to know, the way they moved, talked, the way they asked questions and reacted to the smallest things. Each step was important, each pace defined them.

She didn't dance though. She didn't have to when it was her ballroom. The queen never danced.
