Who: Vyren (+Companions) and Toki Where: Forests of Aurinead, Serenia When: Late Afternoon Weather: Frigid, obviously coming off of the winter hype.
~~~~~ "Brand, Estelle! Why do you two keep flying off like that!?" the Dovaa called after his two Fae Dragons who were flying further off into the forest.
"We have to go home!" the boy said, stopping mid run to catch his breath, huffing heavily doubled over. The weather was cold and he could see his breath glistening white smoke as he exhaled.
After a few moments of silence and breath catching, he stood straight up and stretched a bit. He then dug into his knapsack and pulled out a beautiful green orb. He looked down at his newest prize -- the Ysali dragon orb -- and began to gleam. He couldn't stop smiling and thinking of how proud he was to have beaten his very first encountered dragon.
The boy puffed out his chest as he squeezed the orb ever so slightly. One day, he would be able to breath fire at those damn dragons. He just stood there, proud as could be with that same arrogant grin on his face.
Suddenly, the companions floated back towards his sides. "I'm probably already the strongest Apprentice yet! Who else has defeated the first dragon they ever encounter!? That's right, nobody but me! Haha!" he laughed aloud to his Fae, who also seemed to take joy in his excitement.
"Lets go home guys." he said, putting the orb away and beginning to walk down a beaten path back towards the city.
Toki, lazying about on a broad and sturdy tree branch on Sereina, enjoyed the feeling of sun on his scales. The chilly end of winter was not very kind to his old bones... though his companion Fea dragons loved it. Pesha, the small blue male, was perched on his back, snoozing and giving off small chirping snores. Kashi, the white and red stripped female, was trying to attack his tail as he twitched about to play with her. All three of their heads twitched and shifted towards the sounds of intruders.
Toki, upon hearing the boy (dovaa by his scent) stop beneath his branch to catch his breath, wrapped his tail about Kashi to keep her from investigating. No sense in letting the boy know they were there, he was enjoying his nap. But he gave them away anyways when he heard Vyren's proclamation.
A deep mocking laugh rolled out as he chortled at the young boy. "Oh please, boy. Many kill their first dragon!" He said as he stopped laughing and released Kashi to go and play with the other fae's. If there was one thing Toki loved to do, it was pop arrogant or overconfident people's bubbles!
The deep voice that came from the tree top just as the boy was about to leave scared the living daylight out of Vyren. He spun around as quickly as he could, as did his two companions when they, too, heard the voice.
"Who the hell!? Who are you!?" the boy called from the ground, looking up into the tree to see a dragon on the branch.
"What!? A talking dragon!?" he said quietly to himself, but obviously loud enough to be overheard by others in the area. His heart began to race, this dragon had looked like an older one, more wise in ways Vye couldn't ever even imagine. He also looked like he had been in a few fights with a few scars here and there. Vyren didn't want to fight a huge dragon like that. After all, the first dragon was totally unsuspecting of the boy. This one knew he was there. Now he was truly scared.
"What do you want?" he said, pulling out his dagger, trying to act as brave as he possibly knew how at this point.
Toki snorted as he stretched out languidly. Pesha chirped in irritation as he was moved from his perch on Toki's back. "I am called Toki, shaman of my tribe. A Khehora, small boy, definitely not a dragon. You don't get out often do you?" What two legger couldn't tell a dragon from Khehora? Obviously one who didn't pay attention to his teachers...
"I have many wants. One is to laugh at you right now." He grinned, showing his sharp row of teeth. Kashi snickered, it was the only way to call the sound she made. She thought the dovaa boy was amusing, acting all scared and startled!
Toki shook his head as he heard the dagger slid out of the sheath. The sound was short, which meant it was small and he need not worry. "You're going to attack me with that? I haven't even moved from up here boy. How are you going to reach me?" He sighed with disappointment. "THere is no reason to pull that out, if I were threatening you, I would be acting much differently, trust me. Have you not learned to recognize threatening actions?"
The boy listened, still rather nervous for his life as he loosened his grip on the dagger within his hand. The boys face fell into anger as he felt insulted by the dragon -- or in this case -- the Khehora, as he defined himself.
The two companions, Brand and Estelle, were perched on either of Vye's shoulders by this time, and the Dovaa straightened his stance a bit. This b*****d was laughing at him! Vyren gained some confidence as the dragon spoke.
"I would be able to reach you if you came down here, piece of s**t dragon! You're just scared because you know I could hurt you. You obviously saw what I could do to the other dragon; you don't want your fate sealed the same way." he called, almost egging on the beast.
"But I'll tell you what, leave me alone and nobody has to get hurt. That works out for both of us, don't you think?" the boy asked, clenching to the dagger more in case his provocations would anger the dragon to the point of attack.
Estelle's eyes widened as if she knew the boy was being stupid. Brand was rather flighty and squawking at them, as if to say 'Yeah, come and get us!', which was in conjunction with Vyren's thinking. Estelle, however, began to fly slightly, tugging on the boys shirt, pulling him back as though to say, 'Stop it! Lets go!'. Just their actions were enough to realize who was the "good shoulder angel" and who was the bad.
Toki laughed out loud at the sheer audacity of the boy. Well, points for bravery... but penalties for stupidity! He stood up and arched his back to pop it before flaring his wings and re-furling them as he hopped down to the ground to tower over the boy. The child's head didn't even top Toki's shoulder, and he leaned his head down so his blind orbs were at Vyren's eye level. "Calmly child. Insulting me will get you no where. I told you I was a shaman, that should tell you immediately that an un-clanned dovaa such as yourself is no match for me." He settled back on his hind quarters and reached out a claw to grab Kashi who was trying to harass Vyren and his Faes. "A Ysali kill is not too impressive boy, they are the weakest of the Dragons... of which I am not." He said warning. "Call me by my name, rank or Khehora. Do not call me Dragon again nor insult me." He sent a spark of power across his scales, letting the small lightning bolts dance before calming them down. "I would leave you alone.. except your attitude makes me wish to correct you. Arrogance will only get one killed. Now, I told you my name, common courtesy dictates you tell me yours... unless you have no manners?" Kids! This one's parents obviously had spoiled him!
This dragon wanted to be put higher than others? That was a joke! No dragon was any higher than another when it all came down to it. A dragon is a dragon. The fact that he came off as though he was "superior" was quite the funny thought.
Vyren's heart began to pound in his chest as the Khehora came down from the tree to stand over him. His arms began to shake ever-so-slightly in fear, but he stood his ground; trying his best to put on a brave act.
"I will call you whatever I wish, Dragon." he said, narrowing his eyes. The stubborn, foolish Dovaa was bound to get his a** kicked because of his cocky attitude; and he didn't even seem to care. He braved the fear for anger and pride.
"I don't have to tell you anything about me. You don't even deserve to know my name!" he said, the tone of his voice booming louder with every word.
Estelle continued to pull tighter on the boy's clothing. She knew that he was going to be in trouble. Brand, however, had the idea to whip his claws at the others, taunting them.robot kitten Saw others doing this, thought it would be a nice way to tag. So tag!
Faexa Okay, this way works too! :3 Also, Dovaa can speak/understand Dragon slightly. Vyren wouldn't be able to understand most of it as he's just a kid, but he can get the general gist of the words. The italicized words are draconic. Toki reached out with his clawed fore hand and lightly buffeted the kid on the back of the head. "Respect your elders and betters, boy." He growled warningly. "Unless you want me to beat it into you. You're worse that the newly hatched Orakoi! Didn't your mother teach you any manners?" While he hated to hurt any child, this one was getting on his nerves. Maybe he's just scared? His voice was rising and he was acting very much like a brat… Toki, sensing the taunts from Brand though the reactions of his own Fae's, growled at all four of them in the dragon tongue; Behave all of you. Dealing with one bratty child is enough; unless all four of you are still mewling hatchlings? While he could not understand their dialect, he knew they could understand him, or at least Pesha and Kashi could. Pesha settled down and chirped in irritation, he was no brat! He had important work to do acting as big pa's eyes! Kashi also cooled off; she didn't want to be thought of by her 'father' as a hatchling who needed lectures. She turned her back to the others and perched behind Toki's wings to groom herself, studiously ignoring the others. "You haven't even chosen a clan yet dare to presume to think you are better than me? You've lived what… A mere handful of years? I was born and fighting before your parents ever walked this land. You've killed but one dragons. I've lost count of how many I've killed over there decades. I will demand respect if nothing else… ad to be called by my name and not an incorrect race… unless you are so stupid as to not realize the difference between Khehora and Dragon?" He growled and shook his head, rattling his frills with a sigh. "But what can one expect from a sheltered spoiled brat who's only ever faced one small tiny dragon? You've probably never been out of that soft safe haven of home before, so perhaps you are merely ignorant of reality? Acting arrogant and confident when you reek of fear. You do know I can smell it on you right? A rather tangy scent it is. He snorted with amusement.
robot kitten Tag. emotion_c8 Hehe, Vye is a little brat! xd Before anything more was said, the boy had begun to leave. He had sheathed the dagger, turned around, and started to walk away. That was when the Khehora hit him on the back of the head. The boy wasn't expecting that, but when it happened, he stumbled a bit before catching his footing once again. He quickly spun around, releasing his dagger once more and pointing it at the Khehora.
He recognized some of his draconic speech, for he had studied with Paen all of the dragon language. They were Dovaa after all; dragon blood ran through their veins. The dragon language was just so old fashioned and he hadn't ever really heard an actual dragon call. All he knew is that the draconic language of old was rare, but still used now and again. All of a sudden, Estelle calmed, lowering herself to the ground. Why was she listening to this dragon!? She didn't have to do anything he said! Brand on the other hand perched himself upon Vyren's shoulder and became increasingly upset when his owner was hit on the back of the head; squawking and squealing at the Khehora. Estelle snapped at Brand, clawing her feet at the ground. All it took was her to snap to cause him to calm. He squealed one last time before leaving the shoulder of the boy and fluttering down to Estelle's side. The two sat there quietly whilst Vyren composed himself and listened to the Khehora's words.
"My mother taught me nothing! My father is the one who taught me everything I know! He's the greatest Dovaa on the face of Magesc; so you better be careful, otherwise he'll come after you. And so what if I haven't chosen my clan yet! I already know what I'm going to be. A Firani Dovaa is the path for me. My dad is a Firani and so shall I be." he started, gripping his dagger tighter with every word that spilled out of this Khehora's mouth. He could smell the fear? That couldn't be correct; even though he was fearful, he tried his best not to show it. "So what if this is my first time out of the Celestial Plane. At least I killed one dragon. How do I even know you've killed so many? You're an old man-dragon is all you are. Why don't you just go live out the rest of your days in peace old man-dragon. You don't even know me. I'm actually really smart and talented." he said, his whole body literally shaking in fear slightly as to what the Khehora may do to him, yet he never took his eyes off of him for even a second.
Toki growled at the continued arrogance and stupidity of the boy. “No wonder you are an idiot; nothing but a hotheaded father to teach you with no calming words from a more intelligent mother.” He sighed in disgust at the childish threat. “Is that the best you can come up with? Old man-dragon? My father will hunt you down? You apparently have eyes but are blinder than I am. Cease with the dragon already, brat. As for your father, ” Toki reached behind him and grabbed the Firani orb from the small pack he carried around hidden on his back. “Friani’s aren’t too tough. Water douses and cools the fire where it strengthens and carries lightning. Hopefully one day someone will dump water on you and make you see sense. I will not. Teaching the young of my tribe is bad enough, trying to teach a bratty idiot who can’t even tell the difference between Dragon and Khehora is not worth my time.” He stood up and deliberately just walked over Vyren as if he was dirt. “Go home to your father and whine to him, foolish brat. Try not to die on the way back to your safe hidey hole.”Toki growled to himself as he stalked away, what an idiot! If I meet him again, I'll make sure to pound sense into him. Can't do it now since he's too weak and my claws too sharp. .. Plus my anger may make me go to far. He shook his head and put the boy out of his mind. Let his elders and other Dovaa deal with him.
robot kitten Hehe yay! Thanks for the wonderful first RP, robo. 3nodding As the dragon left, his words resounded within the boy. "Water douses and cools the fire where it strengthens and carries lightning." Pfft. What did the old man-dragon know anyhow?
He let go a sigh of relief as he relinquished the tight grip he had on his dagger. His arrogance had made the Khehora leave, anyway, and that's all that he really wanted. Now it was time to get back home. Estelle just looked at both Vyren and Brand with disappointment and fluttered in front a few paces as the other two knew what had happened could have ended a hell of a lot worse.
After a few moments of traveling, the Dovaa kept quiet, still shaking from the powerful Khehora he had encountered. He had defeated a Firani? That couldn't be! He shook the thought from his mind and thought about it the rest of the way to the docks.
Finally, they arrived at Serenia's docks, boarded the ferry, saying farewell to the bright continent.
"To the Celestial Vortex!"
