Legs dangling over the side of the outpost's platform, America peered down below, searching for Mimsy's fairly distinctive...everything. beside her was a binder, pens and highlighters, and a fair sized picnic basket. Lunch would mainly consist of a large number of simple sandwiches, half dozen cuties, and generic cans of soda.

When America instructed her to meet at a treehouse, Mimsy expected something metaphorical.. It was probably a code word or something similarly secretive. It was what she would have done, at least.

A strong fascination washed over her upon her discovery that the outpost was, in fact, an actual treehouse, and she stared up at it for a moment, head tilted to one side.

"Hello," she greeted her, when she was satisfied with her observations. "May I join you?"

Treehouse etiquette was a bit beyond her. As far as she could recall, she had never been in one. Some of her neighbors built them for their children, but she was not invited to play.

America wasn't afraid like they were. She would invite her to play, and they could share secrets in a treehouse too. Mimsy smiled crookedly and hugged her books to her chest and looked oddly hopeful, considering the mutually amicable circumstances of their meeting.

"Heyoooooooo!" America called back, grinning. She let down the rope ladder and continued, "Can you climb carrying those," she nodded down at the books, "we got a little platform for pulling up goods if ya have need!" The tree house was definitely made for those of adult size, while not larger than a trainee dorm room there was enough room for a table and a couple chairs, as well as to comfortably maneuver about. America tended to ignore the table and chairs, preferring to set up weather proof cushions on the floor.

Her own work was in tidy stacks, weighted down by rocks, for the moment. There was a pile of Sahara notes to one side, a series of drawings featuring tree house designs, in both her own writing and Konstantin's, in another. In the distance, the unfinished structure of another tree house could be seen.

For safety's sake, Mimsy opted to use the platform that America indicated, and placed her notes on it with careful attention to keep the stack perfectly even. When she was confident that they were secure, she tested the rope ladder, adjusted her balance, and climbed up to meet her.

"I like it," she remarked, settling onto a cushion at her side. "Would you like to begin at once with our discussion, or would you prefer to speak about unrelated matters beforehand? Pleasantries or general small talk, perhaps? I can accommodate either preference."

She folded her hands in her lap and seemed especially content that she was able to offer that. Improvements were always so rewarding.

Hand over hand, America pulled down on the rope to raise the little platform and then carefully secured it. She was quietly pleased that it had worked smoothly. It had been used before, but not in front of company.

Happily watching Mimsy settle in, she gave the question some serious thought. One the one-hand, Mimsy was here on information business. On the other hand, she was company. Nodding to herself, America answered, "Let's make this a proper visit." She reached into the basket and spread out a nice checked blanket, then pulled out the cans of soda. "Thank you much for coming by today Miss Mimsy. Let me get you a drink, in this weather you must be simply parched. Now what's your preference, we've got a nice variety courtesy of the broken vending machine on the third floor of the dorm building." She was fairly sure they had Allan to thank for that, in all honesty.

"And what have you been working on lately? I myself have been working on construction, which is always nice. Nothing like working outdoor with my own two hands, though I'm sure doing the science on things is also very fun." Look at how proper her small talk was Mimsy, she wasn't even starting out with the dirty gossip.

A 'proper' visit meant absolutely nothing to Mimsy, who desperately tried to connect it to any previously existing concept in her mind. The best that she could arrive at had something to do with manners, which seemed out of place in a treehouse, unless they were playing pretend.

She could play pretend, if that's what she wanted. She followed America's lead, and continued to sit as primly as she could as she lifted her hand to take one of the drinks - then, thinking better of it, she folded them in her lap again and smiled politely. Or her idea of a polite smile, at least, which looked something between cheerful and quietly dying inside.

"Why, thank you, Miss America." The duality of the title was beyond her, so she missed the opportunity for a good joke. "I am quite parched indeed, after the journey from the research laboratory. I will request your recommendation. It would be impolite of me to assume that my choice is superior to yours."

Another smile, a little better this time.

"Construction? I see. That does sound simply invigorating. I have indeed been working on 'science things', as you put it. Aside from my assignments, I am working on continuing my detailed training regimen--" She gave her a knowing look. "--and am attempting to bridge any theoretical molecular connections between our matter and the matter observed in human sciences. It is difficult work, and it requires a tremendous amount of research and information as a result of its flexibility. Has your research continued to yield promising results?"

She grabbed out two cans of rootbeer, placing one neatly in front of Mimsy. "There's sandwiches in the basket if you've a hunger for such, Miss Mimsy, they aren't much, but I hope they'll do." America smiled graciously as she settled in to face the other girl.

The mention of the training regime received a smile and approving nod, Man Mountain was obviously in good hands. Hopefully Mimsy could train the firebug out of him. For the rest, America had a way of parsing things down to the bits she understood, and building a sort of understanding from that. The results were hit and miss, but it meant she generally always managed an opinion, even on things she knew nothing about. "Oh, a bridge huh? Those are always handy, makes trading from one side to the other all the easier. I'm sure prosperity will follow your endeavors, making all your hard work worthwhile."

Taking a sip, the girl considered the HOT list, "Some, yeah. I've gone off on a few man tangents. Mangents." she grinned, pleased with the made-up word. "I intended to just work from the outside in across the board, but of course there's gotta be a few that merit closer inspection right out the gate. It's not bad though, plus I get to find out interesting gossip here and there." She raised her eyebrows expectantly at Mimsy.
