Character name: Ishild
Link to journal AND/OR Quest Thread: The Icebox
Describe your character's personality in less than 30 words: Full of herself teen makes her first big mistake and freaks, goes on self imposed exile to school - mistake #2 - and is too proud to admit it.
Does your character have a ship/ OTP? Nada.
Describe your character if they were a vegetable: A gourd that would give you a brain freeze but leave your mouth with a minty fresh feeling. The rind would be covered in pointy, fanglike bits.
What is your character's favourite music/ song/ piece? Something with a lot of woodwinds, and long lonely solo parts. Something like Syrinx for Solo Flute.
What is your character's hobby, if they had spare time? Ice sculpting! Perhaps branching into general sculpting.
Is your character more arts, science, or sports inclined? Sports! More doing physical action, pls.
What type of personality traits does your character gravitate towards? Calm, confident types.
What are your character's personality traits (Good ones?) Dedicated, focused, stubborn.
What are your character's personality flaws? Lack of motivation, pride, yo-yoing self confidence, stubborn.
What is your character's favourite colour? All the hues of amber, from warm yellow to honey brown.
Describe your character if they were in the opposite faction:
What would your character look like as the opposite gender OR 10 years into the future? As a dude, she'd be pretty much the same. A little bulkier with a wilder mane and bigger fangs, and probably even less inclined to wear clothes. Definitely would play up the bravado and be better at covering when hit with crippling self-doubt.
If your character was an Amityville Professor/ Divison Leader/ Horsemen Clans lead how would they teach others? HANDS ON EXPERIENCE in the form of character building field trips. Less theory, more practice.
Who does your character look up to? Professor Walker! She's fascinated by the Scarefari and its' wardens.
What is a great weakness of your character? Indecision.
What are their favourite foods? Popo tongues and eye scream!
Favourite fashion style? Au natural! Though visual kei has some aspects that'd interest her.
Favourite minipet? Totems! They're so bitey with those teeth.
If your character was in a fantasy novel who would they be? The taciturn wilderness guide who is eventually swayed to aid the heroes.
Describe your character as a mythical creature: A howling spirit of the winter winds.
Describe your character as a Disney princess and/ or Villain The plucky sort of princess who just wanted to know why the forbidden forest was forbidden and has to deal with the fallout.
If your character could travel anywhere where would they go? A frozen tundra other than the one she grew up in. Do snowflakes taste differently there?
If your character could confess one great secret what would they confess? "I just wanted to make you think I was strong, but I'm not. You're so much stronger than I was. I'm so sorry Abbie."

And the prompt is...

25. Travel

Traveling was a way of life for the Barioth clans that wandered the frozen spaces of Halloween. You came, you saw, and then you moved on. Snow fell, the wind blew, and the clan kept moving.

Even months after settling in the dorms, Ishild still found it weird to keep coming back to the same place night after night. And so, one night she didn't. She wandered to the gym, to the library. She had no appetite, so she avoided the Creepateria. The classrooms were mostly empty, and she did little more than nod acknowledgement to anyone who met her eyes.

Even traversing the campus wasn't helping. It was weird, to be frank, just to meander with no intention of going anywhere. While her family's scaravans might take different paths, they always had the same circuit. There was a point to the journey.

Still feeling forlorn and unsettled, Ishild headed back to her dorm. It might not be the best destination, but at least it was familiar.

And the prompt is...

17. Friendship

"Send a missive home," her father had suggested. Haha, yeah right. As if that was a thing that was going to happen. Still, her family had set her up with all the accoutrements necessary for correspondence. "Dear Mom and Dad, today I went to class, failed a test, and hid in my dorm for the rest of the day, because I am secretly a gelatinous cube with no spine." Ishild stared at the pen and paper and made a face. Yeah, no, not that bored or interested in self-flagellation. And really, the one cube she'd met had been perfectly nice and polite when she'd bumped into him.

Still, it would be nice to tell someone about her day. She eyed several of the totems as they chewed on bits of her furnature and revised that statement in her mind. Someone who cared, about her day.

"Dear Abbie, today I discovered eye scream. Mine didn't actually scream, but it did squish and I think you'd enjoy the texture as well as the taste. And if you don't there's apparently 31 other flavors to try..."

And the prompt is...

90. Meek

The sound of voices carried over to Ishild where she'd exiled herself on the grass. If she craned her neck, she could see a cluster of monsters and undead, playing some sort of game. She wasn't quite sure what the object was, something to do with getting the ball in to the opposing team's territory. Physical contact seemed to give bonus points, if the enthusiasm of the of the players was anything to go by.

The more she watched, the more she was convinced that a couple of the boils and ghouls shared a class with her. That was enough of a pretext, yeah? Just go over there, talk about homework. If they didn't invite her in at that point, just come out and ask. Simple, right? The worst they were going to say was no. (And scowl and sneer and those voices would follow her all through out class. Or they'd say yes, and she'd kick the ball into the woods, or pop it or hurt someone. Or, or, or.)

Instead, Ishild just shifted position so the game was out of view. Yeah, she'd just stay here and listen for a while.

And the prompt is...

52. Equals

Tap tap tap. Tap. Tap tap. Taptaptaptap. A sigh of frustration escaped Ishild, one echoed by her penstrictor, which expressed its' frustration by coiling around her wrist, so she could no longer tap it against her desk. She sighed again and stroked it absently with a foreclaw as she continued to stare at the parchment in front of her.

#13. f(x) = mx + (3 - 2 m)

If f was the fear factor, then, x was the constant and m was the independent variable. Or... wait. Was m the constant and x the variable? She'd though this would be easy. She'd seen her parents negotiate all the time and that was the same thing: adjust one side until it was equivalent with the other. Equal trades, she understood that much. But she couldn't quite get this last problem to equal out.

And the prompt is...

94. Learning

It's a learning experience. That's what they'd said and that's what she'd said when she'd broached the idea of leaving home to her family. A learning experience.

(Uncle Seymour had grumped, huddled under his furs and blankets. "You learn from every experience. Or else." Sand scattered as he shook his great shaggy head, harumphing about kids these days and how the snow made them all soft and if they wanted a REAL learning experience, they should follow him back to the dessert. He was firmly, but politely ignored.)

"It is a respected facility. Many of the greats perused their education there," twittered one of her aunts. "They'll straighten her out in no time."

A cousin fired back, "It seems the whelp is capable of a good idea after all."

Ishild did her best to remain unruffled. It was hard, when her future was at stake. But she was certain of it, in that moment. More certain than she'd ever been before. She'd go to Amityville and learn to be bigger and badder.

With an education behind her, maybe she could look Abbie in the face again and not be ashamed.

In the meantime, she waited and watched her gathered family as they negotiated out how this would occur. You learn, or else.
