She hated it. Hated it so much. Why did she have to come to such a place? Why did her parents have to send her to such a boring, dinky school? The professors were extremly dull, the students much too plain, and there was nothing to do here! Even the little prank she played on Ji was short-lived, and without a room to return to, it only made it that much harder to track her brother down. For all she knew, he was probably attempting to flirt with another ghoul, which would provide momentary entertainment as she would ruin any and all advances by spilling his deepest and darkest secrets.
But as of now, she was so bored, bored, and with no place to go. Her only comfort came from her beloved minis keeping her company, and she stroke the vaisels and elnins on her bed lovingly. Perhaps she could give it a try, this school thing. Find things to keep her occupied and make life a bit more interesting. Maybe, if she pretended to like it, and showed that school had cured her of her reckless, rash behaviour, her parents would finally consent and let her come back home.

She stacked up each block one by one, making sure each one was facing the same way and the same distance apart. She worked slowly and meticulously, making sure each one was in the right place, and doing her utmost best not to accidentally know a single one over, lest her work all be for naught. Her phoenix vaisels sat next to her, watching each one be placed, and if one should wander too close, she gave them a stern glare and pushed it back.
One would wonder why she put so much time and dedication into what most would consider a mundane task, and perhaps that was the very thought of her elnin famine, who only sat on a cushion provided, watching lazily and yawning as it decided such a thing didn’t warrant her attention. To be honest, the chimera herself knew it was kind of pointless, but, well, she was bored. Also, since she didn’t bother to go to any of the classes or put up with homework, she had way too much time on her hands, time which was spent doing… this.
At last, the final block was placed, and she grinned, motioning to her vaisels to help with the final task. With a gentle nudge, the blocks toppled over one by one, and with glee, she pet them, and decided to treat them all to some fear candy.
Should Jiten ever come back to the scorched remains of his room, he would find the following message on the floor:

It had failed, her brilliant plan. She had tried, pleaded her case, even did her very best to be the daughter they wanted, and yet they weren’t satisfied. One less prank, one less mistake. Slowly, she was improving, she said. She was getting better. If anything, they were just harmless jokes. Knotting other chimeras’ tails together, stealing all the food from the fridge for her minipets, perhaps accidentally scorching off papaji’s eyebrows during a heated argument. So she wasn’t PERFECT, but she tried. Life was just so dull, so boring, and she wanted to do something to liven it up. They had to admit it made things a little more exciting, didn’t it?
But they didn’t. They called her reckless. Out of control. A problem ghoul. It was bad enough they wanted to send her off for rehabilitation, but to make Ji go also and be her keeper? That was the very last straw. She bickered, she cursed. She hated them so much. How could they do this to her? How could they treat her as if she were just a scareling? And now, here she was, in this poor excuse of an institution, stuck wasting her life away doing mundane and boring tasks. She knocked something over in frustration and cried. One day, they would pay.

A faint smile curled up on her lips as she moved the little figure forward, shifting its position from black to white. Such tiny manipulable pieces, their every move subject to her whim. She held their fate in her hands, and they themselves were powerless, unable to object to the oppression she put them under. They served her, their queen, no, master, and should one refuse, she could easily execute them, deliver them into enemy hands, and even under such torture, they would always be loyal to her.
She moved another, a great steed, black as night. Its ebony coat shimmered and she stroke it gently, purring. Even such a great majestic creature served her whole-heartedly, posture unwavering in the face of danger. Offense was everything, and if one should hesitate, their resolve faltering for even a moment, that would spell their ultimate doom.
Even as she pressed forward, she knew they themselves were inching into their territory. She didn’t bat an eye as they took down their first wall, and then the next. Defense was garbage. As long she took down their fighters first, she would win.
A soldier fell, and then another, but still she kept going, and with patience and persistence, she had the enemy right where she wanted them.
Checkmate.
Her phoenix vaisel stared at the board, tilting its head as it let out “mrrow” before picking up the knight piece and wandered off with it, finally losing interest in the game.

The little mouse ran, each breath labored, eyes wide with fear. It ran, knowing that if it did not escape, its life would be forfeit. But running was not enough. If it didn’t find a place to hide, it’d be all over.
But the prey would never escape the predator. The ground shook as each paw touched the ground, teeth exposed and sharp. Her eyes were focused, never wavering from her prey. Asides from making Ji’s life miserable, the hunt always thrilled her, filled her with excitement. She loved watching them squirm, watching them plead helplessly as she ended their life. It made her superior, as she always was. She always came out on top, always number one, and nothing and no one could say otherwise.
It wouldn’t take any effort for her to catch up, her stride already double that of her victim, but she always liked to drag things out. Give them hope, before crushing it. It made things much more enjoyable that way, when they thought that had a ghost of a chance. Amusing, really. But she didn’t feel like waiting around this time, no. And soon, she was right behind it, grinning as her tail swooped down, and with one gulp, the mouse was no more.
There would be no escape from her at all.
