The field is...
the Forest Field!
Thick trees, some small while others greatly exceed double your own height, sprout at random places throughout the field. Giant roots provide easy excuses for pokemon to trip if they do not watch where they are going. Spacing between the trunks vary, making passage difficult for those on the ground and in the air. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to BUG and GRASS type attacks.This field also reduces damage from FLYING type attacks by 25 HP.

"Ahhh, the ol' forest field," Charlotte said with a nostalgic sigh as she threw her pokeball. "Sure holds a lot of memories for me... and uh, unfortunately also for Mara..."
Seeing the stadium, Mara angrily snapped a branch off one of the trees. Out of all the places she could possibly battle, it had to be this one again. She already knew this match was going to be intolerable.

"You got this, Zarya!" Zinnia encouraged her mismagius.
Zarya ducked to hide her face in her collar. Another battle... She had to use this opportunity to prove that she had gotten stronger and was no longer a liability. She had to be brave... If she could...
"Go on, show 'em what you've got!"
With that, the ghost hesitantly drifted into her place on the field. The trees at least obscured the bright stadium lights, and she could almost forget that a lot of people were watching.

"Start with Shadow Ball!" Zinnia commanded.
A dark blob formed in front of Zarya's center gem. It pulsed as it grew, until suddenly the ball of black energy zoomed straight for her opponent.

The shadowy sphere hit Mara straight-on, and she was sent spiraling back a bit. Luckily, she stopped herself before she hit a tree.
"Don't be discouraged, this is nothin'! Use Astonish!" Charlotte said.
Taking advantage of the field, Mara disappeared behind some thick foliage. After a moment, she suddenly popped out behind Zarya and headed right for her.

Zarya froze in surprise and was knocked off balance when the other ghost slammed into her. She zoomed away to regain some distance between her and her opponent, now feeling warier than ever.
"Shadow Ball, again!" Zinnia commanded.
Zarya sent a second shadowy orb toward Mara.

Mara thought fast and ducked behind a tree, narrowly avoiding the shadowy attack.
"Great job!" Charlotte cheered to her pokemon. "Hit her again!"
Beginning to think that this might not be all bad, Mara dissolved into the shadows for another sneak attack.

Zarya ducked and felt the drifloon brush the top of her hat. She shivered; she had just barely dodged the second surprise attack.
"You're doing great! Shadow Ball!" Zinnia called.
Zarya aimed carefully and released another dark orb.

There was no avoiding this one - the shadow ball struck Mara, temporarily bewildering her.
"Dang - well I guess you can't sneak up on someone twice," Charlotte thought out loud. "Alright, try Thunder Wave!"
Mara came back to her senses and gathered up the static electricity in the air, sending it all in one wave towards Zarya.

Zarya vanished as the wave of electricity headed toward her, reappearing after it passed. She looked a bit shaken, but otherwise unharmed.

Mara was getting really tired of being hit by attacks. She decided this as the Shadow Ball made contact and it took her longer than normal to steady herself.
"Ahhh, poor Mara, it just never works out for you, does it... Keep attacking, though!" Charlotte somewhat encouraged.
Almost acting purely on white-hot rage, Mara made another attempt to spook her opponent.

Zarya squeezed her eyes shut and released another shadowy blob.

Hit once again by the shadowy ball, Mara flipped backwards and smacked right against a tree branch. A low ominous growl could be heard echoing through the stadium.
"Man, Mara, you aren't a ghost pokemon for nothin'..." Charlotte said nervously, somewhat afraid of her own pokemon's anger. "Try using Thunder Wave again!"
Knowing she had to try to stop her opponent in her tracks, Mara sent out a wave of static throughout the air.

"Dodge it again, then use Shadow Ball!" Zinnia commanded. Zarya did as she was told, vanishing momentarily using her ghostly abilities. When she reappeared, she quickly hurled another blob at her angry opponent. Zarya wanted to end the battle before the drifloon hated her too much!
