xxA New Day; Each Day. ____________________________________________________________ .. Balance in Death; ‘til Death do us part. Chapter One: The Beginning at The End Time Frame: About 450 years ago. What would you do; if tomorrow never came?
Yuri focused on her weaving she couldn’t afford not to. To put it simply she was not a normal girl. Her younger sisters were far more proper. They could sew and weave all day long and not complain. Their father had already received several marriage offers from power men for his two youngest daughters.
Yuri had not and at 20 years old she was rapidly becoming an old maid. She had an explosive temper and when she was angry she had a sharp tongue. Yuri would much rather be at the training ground than at the weaving shed.
In fact when she had been younger Yuri snuck off from her chores to go watch the warriors practice. One of her friends, Haru, noticed and was more than willing to teach her what he learned. This had continued for five years but, then her father had found out and put an end to it.
Yuri noticed when the overseer left and forced herself to wait. Finally she couldn’t take it anymore. Yuri left her weaving unfinished and left. Yuri hadn’t left her chores in a little over year in preparation for this day.
The sun was setting so Yuri hurried. She hadn’t had a proper conversation with Haru after the combat lessons had stopped. Yuri planned to rectify this today. It had to be today. Haru had turned 21 and he left tomorrow to join the king’s army. There were rumors that there was a nasty war to the far north. The odds of Haru coming home were slim.
Yuri did her best not to run. Soon she reached the tiny glade where the combat lessons had taking place. Haru was waiting. The two friends laughed as they raced to embrace each other. For a moment they just held each other.
Finally they pulled away and sat down. Haru sprawled out on the ground. Yuri sat with her arms around her knees studying the one person who had never thought her odd.
As they watched the sun set Haru asked, “What would you do if there was no tomorrow?”
Yuri answered with a soft voice, “Spend the rest of my time with you.”
Haru turned to piece Yuri with his eyes, “Run away and come with me.”
Yuri jerked back in shock, “What?”
Haru repeated himself, “Come with me. A lot of new soldiers come with wives. You’ll never be happy here. Come with me and I’ll marry you.”
Yuri protested, “We don’t have our parents’ permission.”
Haru argued, “We won’t get it! I know we don’t love each other like people do in the dramatic tales but, I do love you. We know how to work together.”
Yuri surprised herself as she stopped Haru, “Yes!” Yuri smiled, “Yes, I’ll run away and marry you.”
Haru had thought this though so he told Yuri, “Meet me here at dawn. Bring as many supplies as you can without arousing suspicion. At dawn it will be a new day.”
Yuri never got that chance. As she lay awake, trying to determine what she should take the warning bell stuck and the village erupted into chaos.
Yuri’s father handed her a sword, “I don’t approve but, I’m counting on you to defend your mother and sisters.”
Yuri nodded; Haru would understand. With a calm efficiency Yuri herded her family and many other women and children to the edge of the village. She was taking them to the retreat in the forest.
Yuri looked around; the village was on fire. The raiders were being held back. It looked like this would be a victory. Then Yuri saw a stray arrow headed for her youngest sister. Yuri leapt and the arrow hit her in her back. Yuri looked down to see if the arrow head had gone all the way though.
A raider leapt from the shadows and Yuri got her sword up just in time. The battle was short. Yuri just didn’t have the skill to keep up. The raider sent his sword though Yuri’s stomach.
Yuri landed on the ground. The rest of the battle past in a haze as the sky got lighter. Yuri couldn’t move; she needed to move. Haru was waiting.
Then Yuri thought she saw her father, “Father, I have to go. Haru ask me to go with him.”
Yuri closed her eyes and when she opened them she didn’t know where she was. Yuri looked at the sky; it was a new day. Yuri quickly realized that he had died.
Yuri asked, “Is this realm of the gods?”
“Not quite,” Yuri turned to see a little old woman. “This is the Soul Society. I suppose you could call this the afterlife.”
A lock of hair fell into Yuri’s eyes. Yuri held it away from her face to look at it. It seemed that dying had turned her black hair purple. Yuri wondered what else had changed.
The little old woman asked, “So what’s your name?”
Yuri thought about that for a moment, “Dawn. My name is Dawn.”
It looked like Haru had been right. Tomorrow had never come. Still today was a new day. Dawn got to her feet to look around. Yuri had died and a new Dawn had come. It was up to her to make the most of today.
____________________________________________________________ Chapter Two: What’s in a Name Time Frame: About 300 years ago. The Black Sunrise.
Dawn was sitting in a ramshackle bar. She was in a corner next to the building’s lone window. The barmaid had brought her a cup of some kind of alcohol. Dawn ignored it. She knew what the drug did to a person’s sense and, had no wish to take leave of hers.
Instead Dawn rewrapped the hilt of her katana. The old black cloth was a little more than tatters. Dawn had seen a bolt of purple cotton in a market stall earlier and had paid for it honestly. Then she had headed into the first bar she had come across to complete her task.
Dawn had stolen her blade when she had fled from her captures. Early in her death Dawn made some ill-thought choices and found herself trapped by a den of gamblers, thieves, addicts and, rapists. Before her capture Dawn had been quick to laugh. Now her smiles were rare but, more sincere.
Dawn absently rubbed her left wrist as she spoke for the first time since she entered the bar, “Water and make sure it’s clean.”
The other patrons had been watching her from the corner of their eyes. When she spoke, they quickly turned their attention elsewhere. Dawn glared at them with her purple eyes. She was well aware that her purple hair and eyes caused people to distrust her in an instant.
Dawn didn’t care. She was hard. She knew that. She also didn’t care. Dawn rubbed against her scars on her right wrist. Dawn forced the memories of that man away. With the help of one of her fellow captives Dawn had escaped. Her fellow escapee had been a pit fighter and helped Dawn hone her talent with a blade.
They had escaped about a hundred years ago and about 10 years after that the ex-pit fighter had died to give Dawn a chance to run from the man who would have recaptured them. The only souvenir she had was his green cape.
Dawn was forced back to the present by a pair of loud-mouth ruffians entering the bar. The patrons of the bar turned their drinks. These men were infamous. Dawn placed her sword on the table and brought the cup of water to her lips. She didn’t let them leave her sight.
The taller one began to harass the barmaid, “Why hello. You’re a pretty thing.”
His shorter friend agreed, “Yeah, you sure are.”
Both men smirked as the sandwiched the girl between them. The taller one was in front of her and the shorter one was behind him. The both reached out to touch the terrified girl inappropriately.
The girl squeaked, “Just leave me alone.”
The taller one grinned, “Now, honey, don’t be like that.”
The shorter one repeated, “Yeah, don’t be like that.”
Dawn put door her cup and grabbed the sheath of her sword with her left hand. She rose and held her arms at her sides with both elbows bent. Her eyes narrowed dangerously.
Dawn declared, “She told you to leave her alone!”
The taller one tilted his head to smirk at Dawn, “Just wait your turn, girlie.”
The shorter one snorted, “We’ll get to you soon enough.”
The two men turned back to the barmaid. That was their mistake. Dawn drew her blade with her right hand. The back of the taller one was to Dawn so, she swung. His corpse crumpled to the floor.
The shorter one stared in shock, “What?”
Dawn didn’t waste time with words. She just ran the man though with her katana. With a single movement Dawn sliced the shirt of the shorter man open to reveal a tattoo. Dawn’s instincts had been correct; they been had belonged to the cartel that had held her captive. Not anymore; being dead revoked their membership.
Then a voice came from the corner opposite where Dawn had been sitting, “I’ve heard of you.”
Dawn turned to see an old man, “You’ve heard of me?”
The man nodded, “A purple haired woman with a blade that she stole. The guard is half red and half blue.”
Dawn considered the man. He could be older than her but, looks were hardly indicative. She had meet people that appeared older than her only to find out that they had only died a few years ago. If this man was trying to unsettle her it wouldn’t work.
Dawn scoffed, “Somehow I don’t believe that is enough to spread rumors.”
The man continued, “The lone survivor of the cartel; the Black Sunrise.”
Dawn laugh a cold and harsh laugh, “What do you care?”
The man sat back in his seat, “I don’t but you should. They’re looking for you.”
Dawn slide her sword back in its sheath. She quickly strapped the sword to her back. Dawn stepped over the bodies and tossed a handful of coins on the counter.
Dawn told the bartender, “Sorry about the mess. This should cover it.” Dawn smiled at the barmaid, “Take care of yourself.” Just as Dawn exited she turned to look at the old man, “If they are looking for me, I best find them first.”
With that Dawn left the bar. As she walked down the road she thought about what the stranger had said to her. So people were calling her the Black Sunrise. Perhaps she should put that to good use.
Dawn thought of a word she had heard once. A boy who died when he was young had told it to her a dozen or so years back. He had come from a different part of the world and spoke a different language. The memory only stuck because Dawn had like the way the strange word for black had sounded.
Dawn turned to look at the setting sun and created a picture moment for anyone who saw her. She was wearing a black wrap around tunic with elbow length selves. She was also wearing a pair a white knee length pants; her shoes were black flats. Her green cape, full of memories, swished around her in the slight wind. Her right hand came up to lightly grasp the newly wrapped hilt. Her bangs brushed her face.
Dawn spoke to the air, “They better watch out because Dawn Noir, the Black Sunrise, is coming for them.”
____________________________________________________________ Chapter Three: Wanted Time Frame: About 290 years ago. Didn’t hearing voices make you crazy?
Dawn Noir, the Black Sunrise, looked at the room. There were bodies scattered everywhere. Dawn let out a snort of disapproval. They had heard she was coming and took poison.
Dawn had been hunting the cartel for about ten years; ever since she had taken the name Noir. She found that she enjoyed battle. She didn’t care much for blood but, the adrenalin rush was pure bliss.
Dawn scowled as she looked around the room again. The cartel had been falling apart for a year. That was when she got her first rule clue and started to destroy whole dens of higher-ups. The thing about higher-ups was they were all cowards.
Dawn rubbed the scars on her left wrists. She hadn’t found that man yet. The odds were she never would. Still she had an irrational fear that one day he would show back up in her life. He had broken something inside her that she had yet to fix; perhaps she never would. Dawn knew that if she had to face him before she fix it she would fall to pieces at the first sound of his voice.
A voice pierced though her inner diolouge, “You won’t win!”
Dawn turned to see a frail-looking woman. Dawn enquired with a cold voice “What do you mean I won’t win?”
The woman sneered, “I mean you’re a spoiled brat with delusions of being a hero and no idea what you’re dealing with.”
Dawn exploded with anger, “A HERO! YOU THINK I’M A HERO! I AM NOT A HERO!”
Dawn drew her blade and held it with both hands. She prepared to leap at the woman and found she couldn’t move. The woman had done something to stop Dawn’s movements.
Dawn screeched in undiluted anger as she struggled against invisible bonds. Dawn something come out of her. It looked like power and shifted between pale red and dark blue at irregular intervals.
Dawn continued to struggle. It didn’t matter what was happening to her. She needed to kill this woman; she was an enemy!
"An enemy you say."
"Then I think we can help you."
"I am Fuyunohi"
"And I am Natsunoyo"
"Call us! Summon us!"
With a burst of energy Dawn broke free. Somehow she knew just what to do.
Dawn pulled her hands away while she declared, “Burn the Ice and Freeze the Fire, Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo!”
As Dawn pulled her hands a part twin spirals encased her blade. The first spiral was red ice and the second one was blue fire. The spirals vanished and Dawn was left holding two twin katanas. Dawn flew at the woman her enemy.
What happened next passed in a blur. Dawn could remember cascades of red ice that burned and arcs of blue fire that froze. She cut through dozens of cartel men as they rushed to attack her. At times she felt passionate anger and at others she felt a detached coldness.
The next thing Dawn really remembered was waking up in a dew covered field as the first rays of false dawn touched the sky. Dawn felt a sharp ache behind her eyeballs so; she reached up to massage her temples. Dawn looked to her right to see her blade.
Dawn wasn’t sure what had happened the night before. Most likely it was a bad dream or a psychotic break. In fact Dawn could remember hearing voices. Didn’t hearing voices make you crazy?
"You’re not crazy."
"We’re a Zanpakutō".
Dawn felt her eyes go wide. Zanpakutōs were Shinagami weapons. Dawn was pretty sure criminals like her weren’t allowed Zanpakutōs. There was no doubt that Dawn was a criminal. She had seen the wanted posters the Seireitei put out. Killing hundreds of people tended to do that.
"Zanpakutōs have nothing to do with being a Shinagami or a criminal."
"It has to do with Reiryoku."
"We would have told you about it sooner but you subconsciously keep it contained."
"You’re actually pretty good at it. It’s why you don’t feel hungry like most people with measurable level of Reiryoku."
Dawn sat for a moment; contemplating that. How long would it be before a Shinagami showed up to kill her? Right now they ignored her because she was killing cartel members. There was no way they ignore her once they found out she had access to power like theirs.
Dawn became calculating. The only way to fight off a Shinagami would be to master her Zanpakutō. However she didn’t have a teacher.
"We’ll teach you."
Dawn was shocked. How had they know what she was thinking?
"We’re extensions of your soul. We can follow your thoughts"
"Don’t worry. We aren’t going to tell anyone your secrets."
"You’re our mistress. We won’t betray you"
Dawn nodded to herself. If they were willing to teach her it was time to get started.
____________________________________________________________ Chapter Four: An Invitation Time Frame: About 50 years ago. I could kill you now.
Dawn was on the run. She might have bitten off more than she could handle this time. She had gotten cocky and, it had come back to bite her at her. Dawn had finished with the cartel shortly after learning how to control her Reiryoku and her Zanpakutō.
Dawn had inadvertently created a power void. The lowest of the low scrambled to fill it. Dawn had spent about two weeks arguing with Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo. Finally Dawn had taken responsibility for her actions and took down each new incarnation of the cartel. They were all the same. Only their symbols changed.
The newest one had taken precautions against the rumors of the Black Sunrise. Dawn hadn’t expected that. Most of these groups had thought the Black Sunrise was a myth.
So now Dawn was being forced to run though a Rukon forest. She waded every stream she came across and frequently scaled trees and jumped from branch to branch. Somehow they were tracking her. Dawn knew they weren’t sensing her Reiryoku. Even if they had to ability to sense Reiryoku Dawn had condensed hers to the size of a golf ball and had tucked it behind her heart.
“Just kill them all!”
“Have you forgotten? They have Kidō cannons. And we can’t freeze, or burn, Kidō.”
“How the hell did they get Kidō cannons?”
Dawn cut through her Zanpakutō’s chatter, “I don’t know but we need to re-plan this.”
“First we need to find a place to hide.”
“Then can we kill them?”
Dawn reiterated, “After we re-plan.”
Dawn was coming up to the perfect hiding place. Swiftly Dawn sheathed Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo and kicked off her shoes. As she passed the tree line Dawn dived into the river one the other side of the ledge. With a few quick strokes she came to an underwater grotto. She swam upward and broke the surface.
Dawn climbed into the cave and silently hugged a wall. She listened intently and heard when the search party overlooked her hiding place. Dawn would wait a few moments and then head straight back to the thugs’ hideout. Maybe she could take out the higher-up while the guards were gone.
Slowly Dawn counted to 200. Then she slipped back into the water. She was absolutely silent as she broke the surface of the river. She pulled herself up to the bank as quickly as possible as she could.
“Hello. I’ll admit I’m impressive at how long you stayed under the water. Unless you found some type of submerged cave.” "
Dawn slowly craned her head to see a large man standing on the other riverbank, He was wearing a kimono but his right sleeve was hanging empty. As a result Dawn could see the extensive tattoo on his chest and right arm. He had short white hair and several scars.
Dawn quickly stood and faced the man. She hadn’t known he was there. Whoever this large man was had incredible Reiryoku control. Dawn noticed that he had a pair of katanas. Dawn raised her right arm to draw her blade.
The man’s voice cut her off, " “Hey! Take it easy! I’m not looking for a fight. I just noticed a group of lowlifes chasing a pretty girl. I figure I stop to make sure you were okay.”
Dawn could feel her grip on her temper begin to slip. The man had the gall to wink at her! Still something seemed off about this man. Dawn couldn’t figure out what it was.
He’s a Shinagami!
Kill him! Quickly! Or he’ll kill you!
Dawn ignored Natsunoyo and asked the man, “What brings a Shinagami to this part of the Rukon.”
The man smirked, “It figures that a pretty girl like you would be smart to see that I wasn’t from around here.”
Dawn was about to gag. The man was flirting with her! Dawn began to consider Natsunoyo’s suggestion.
The man continued, “Hey! Maybe you can help me! I’m looking for a man that is said to live in these parts. My Captain sent me to invite him to join our Squad.”
Dawn raised her eyebrow, “What makes you think anyone from these parts would join the Shinagami?”
Dawn hadn’t moved an inch. She was a tense spring. The slightest move from the man and Dawn would slice his head from his body. Her right fingers drummed on the hilt of her blade.
The man answered, “If he doesn’t accept my terms I have orders to kill him.”
Dawn admitted, “That is a very persuasive argument. Still isn’t that a little dramatic?”
The man laughed as he shook his head, “He’s an infamous criminal. He’s killed hundreds maybe even thousands. Still my Captain thinks he would make a fine addition to our Squad.”
Dawn felt obligated to point out, “The law can be … flexible, out here.”
The mountain of the man shrugged, “I have orders to kill him. I’m just a Lieutenant. I do what am told.”
Dawn snickered at that. Somehow she didn’t believe that this man didn’t do anything thing he didn’t want to do, even if it was an order.
Dawn became cold, “Alright what’s this man’s name. If he’s infamous enough for word to reach the Seireitei maybe I have heard of him.”
The man winked at her, “The man I’m looking for is called the Black Sunrise.”
Dawn drew Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo and held it in front of her in a battle position; both her hands were on the hilt. Her cold detachment had melted into explosive anger. There was no way she was going to let this man decide her fate.
“I have things to do here! I will not just forsake that to go be a Shinagami!”
The man looked at her in surprise, “Wait. You’re the Black Sunrise?”
Dawn became haughty, “Of course I am.”
The man became amused, “No you’re not. The Black Sunrise has a sword that sprays ice that burns and another blade that brings fire that freezes. That’s why Captain Hirako wants the Black Sunrise for Squad Ten: the Dual Blade Faction.”
”Kill him!”
Dawn started pulling her hands apart, “Burn the Ice and Freeze the Fire, Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo!”
As soon as the double helix of ice and fire vanished Dawn grabbed her twin katanas and leapt at the man. She brought her blades down on the man but he vanished. Dawn looked to see the man a few steps to her left.
Dawn swung Fuyunohi at him, “Hi Tōketsu!”
The arc of blue fire headed towards the man. A few stray sparks hit a tree and began to freeze the plant. The man vanished and the arc crashed into the forest; causing a round of ice. The man reappeared on Dawn’s right.
Dawn swung Natsunoyo at him, “Moeru Kōri!”
The red cascade of ice fired at the Shinagami. Yet again the man vanished and part of the forest caught fire.
The man reappeared behind Dawn. Startled, Dawn jumped away and turned to face him. There was a look of victory on his face. Dawn scowled; he hadn’t won just because he had dodged a few of her attacks.
The man spoke, “You are the Black Sunrise. Very impressive. So you already know. Captain Daitachi Hirako, Captain of Squad Ten, invites you to join him as his Third officer.”
Dawn exploded, “And I told you! I have things to do here! I’m not leaving!”
Just then something changed. Dawn watched as the world started to vibrate. She felt a great weight press down on her. Dawn tried to fight it and failed. She collapsed to her hands and knees; dropping her katanas.
The man was cool, “I could kill you now.”
Dawn struggled to breath. He was doing this. How? More importantly, how did she fight it?
The man continued, “And if your business is those cartel wannabe punks; do you really think you can make a difference?”
Dawn managed to get out, “No I don’t! But I have to try! If I don’t know one will and then who will fight for those who can’t fight at all?”
The man squatted next to Dawn, “You can still do that as a Shinagami. In fact it will be easier because you won’t be a criminal.”
Dawn didn’t want to die. She considered the proposal. She could be a Shinagami for a century, maybe two, and then she could disappear.
Dawn spat, “Fine! I’ll become a Shinagami!”
The pressure vanished and Dawn shakily got to her feet. Dawn pick up Fuyunohi to Natsunoyo from where it had fallen and been force into its sealed state.
The man held out his hand, “It’s nice to have you on board, Third seat Sunrise! I’m Lieutenant Saitō. It’s nice to have such a pretty girl on the team.”
Dawn ignored the hand as she slid her sword back in its sheath, “It’s Noir.”
Lieutenant asked, “What.”
Dawn explained, “My name is Noir. Dawn Noir, the Black Sunrise.”
The man smiled and corrected himself, “Welcome aboard Third seat Noir.”
Dawn look at the moon at its zenith. This was an unwanted twist of fate. It was ironic that it happened at midnight. She had always hated midnight.
End Prologue. Start Story.

She has trained with it in case she ever finds herself without a blade but, she rather not. She is slightly below the standard skill for a Third seat Hohō | Dawn is average. She can used Shunpo, Air Walk, and the Senkaimon. However she admits that she could use practice. Durability | Dawn cannot take a lot of physical abuse. However she can bleed out and still continue fighting. This leads her enemies to mistakenly think she has an unlimited supply of blood. While she can’t withstand much; Dawn heals at a phenomenal rate. Reiryoku | Dawn’s Reiryoku shifts between dark blue and pale red. She is capable of condensing it down to the size of a golf ball. She tells people that her spiritual pressure resides just behind her heart. When she releases her Shi Kai her Reiryoku manifests as shards of blue ice and streams of red fire.

Okay. My RPC is still a work in progress but, I'm stuck. If I could get an Approvee to give me some advice I would be grateful. Onin Harashi Tsuna I wasn't sure who I should quote. If I need to quote some else please let me know IKami-senpai I figure you would like to see Dawn Noir.

Overall, I see no problems with the information provided. In fact, this is a very balanced character with an interesting Zanpakuto.
I approve this; but, make sure you clean up the formatting issues that can be seen throughout the profile.

I've added another chapter to her bio. I saw that you like to read them so I thought I let you know. Also, I have done my best to fix the formatting issues. I can't figure out what I did wrong but it's still screwed up.

I've finished the Prologue part of the Bio. I thought you might like to see it. I've also fix a few typos.
