Well, he was bruised and probably still had twigs stuck in his clothes and hair, but he did it. He was out of Death, and in the Sun. A weight lifted off his shoulders, leaving him feeling light....headed. Light headed.. He kind of hoped that wasn't a concussion from the two story fall.

Otto ambled his way back inside, eventually coming across Gale in the halls. He didn't much care for the guy, but he didn't hate him so much as he used to. Respect and whatever and s**t.

"Hey." Otto hailed him over with a cut up hand. "Got a minute?"

Gale hadn't expected to be accosted by one all-too-familiar Death Division hunter, let alone the one he had accidentally dragged along with him to an alternate universe where the two of them had nearly died thanks to a homicidal giant hand and the ghosts of the Lost Boys.

Or something. Gale gave Otto a wary, almost suspicious look, as though he half expected Otto to smack him.

"Ye-es?" said Gale, turning to face him.

"Um, just wanted to fill you in." He murmured, scratching his cheek. "I transferred over to Sun. So like.. all that chore s**t we split up is uh.." Is your burden now. He couldn't think of a non-a*****e way to put it.

"Stormy had been helpin' me with my share, so she'll probably do the same for you. It also means I won't be responsible for weaponizations anymore." Thank God, he thought. "Though that last bit doesn't really have anything to do with you."

Of all the things Gale had expected Otto to say, that was most definitely not one of them.

Gale nearly walked into a wall. As it was, he merely stumbled a bit, dragged his feet back into their proper positions, and stared at Otto with an expression somewhat like a deer caught in the headlights of an oncoming car. Which was a relatively accurate metaphor for anyone and Allan, if one thought about it.

"You - what?" he said, eyes wide. "Are you taking the mickey? You....transferred?"

"Mickey? Look, don't get all British on me here..." Otto raised his hands up defensively, "Yeah, I transferred. It was long overdo, really.."

Gale was still staring. It wasn't that he was angry at Otto about transferring (well, mostly), but at the same time it was something he hadn't exactly expected. Perhaps he'd always taken it for granted, but Gale and Otto had always been in Death Division together, almost from the very start.

He shook his head, just a little, as though trying to clear it.

"I, erm..." said Gale, and then stopped and tried again. "But...why?"

Part of him believed Gale was relieved to be rid of him. But gauging from his reaction so far, now he wondered if maybe he was disappointed.

"I guess.. you could say it's like running away." He murmured, rubbing his neck nervously. "I've been struggling. The last year I think, has been really hard. In Death... you have to be your own boss just as much as serving the boss. You have to know what to do all the time. You have to have the answers. For a while I was even working with the weaponization project scouting for potential candidates."

The teen let out a breath, the mere thought of doing any of it again making him ill. "I hated it. I can't talk to people I like, let alone strangers or potential weapons. Talking nice with students, trying to figure them out. I always wanted to prove that I'm not stupid, but..."

He gave a wry smile. "So much for that. I just feel stupid and dumb here. I don't know what I'm doing. I was never cut out for this Division."

If he admitted he was disappointed in Otto transferring divisions, it would be the same as admitting that he kind of sort of didn't really mind Otto all that much and maybe even sort of kind of looked forward to their bickering and their squabbling. He'd gotten so used to having Otto as his vocal sparring partner that Gale hadn't really given much thought to what would happen if Otto was no longer in the same Division.

Gale would have kissed Mark before admitting to that. So he clamped his jaw shut firmly and tried to push away the dull red flush that was slowly creeping up his face. "Weaponization is...tough," he said finally, because that at least was something he could relate to. He wasn't about to scout anyone out anytime soon.

"You were always dumb," Gale mumbled, but it wasn't really said with anger. He let out his breath in a long sigh and shoved his hands into the pockets of his coat. "So what now, then? You go and be all tough and all that rubbish? Turn into the shorter, blonder version of Bix?"

Otto puffed his cheeks a bit. That was a bit more like Gale, truth be told. Calling him dumb. He didn't hate it quite as much this time around. Maybe the way gale said it didn't hurt as much as most other times he heard it. And he heard it a lot.

He thought of all the brutish men in Sun, and the ways they carried themselves in general. Bix was probably not someone he'd peg as brutish. "No, cause then I'd have to be as lame as him." Otto rebutted, though truth be told he didn't mind the dude too much.

"I'm not gunna be a bullheaded Sun. I'm gunna take what I learned from Death and use it as a strength that they don't have... or try to, anyway." His plan was vague. He just knew he couldn't mentally handle Death anymore. Sun seemed straight forward. They were the offence. The front lines. The guys who cleared a path. Otto didn't feel capable looking three steps ahead. He either saw darkness, or saw too many possibilities that rendered him frozen and undecided.

Let someone else think for him.

He huffed out a long breath. looking over at Gale with a haughty expression. "What? Ya gunna miss me?"

Gale opened his mouth to dispute the lame thing - and then promptly shut it again because Otto was right, Bix was pretty bloody lame.

At least Otto's plan for Sun was better than a lot of the Sun Hunters currently in that particular division, which Gale told him. "Most of those Suns are pretty stubborn," he added, with a roll of his eyes. "And they think a little too much of themselves for my liking. But I guess if you want to be shoved in with a bunch of brutish thugs, be my guest."

He gave a snort, folding his arms across his chest. "No," said Gale stubbornly, a scowl on his face. "Who'd miss a bloody prat like yourself? I'll do just fine without you."

But there may or may not have been the tiniest of smiles on Gale's face.

"T'be honest, I'm pretty sure I hate half of the assholes in Sun. But I didn't switch over cause of the people in the Division." Even the Sun Lead was a bit too much for him, but at least if the guy beat him up, it wasn't because he meant to.

Otto managed a smirk of his own to match Gale's brief smile. "Hmph. Yah, sure you will." He teased back at him. "Enjoy his Majesty's domain."

A smirk played at the corners of Gale's lips in spite of himself. "Well," he said, with a roll of his eyes. "I'm sure you'll do just brilliantly in there then, what with all those people you hate and stuff."

A slight pause, and then he added, a little grudgingly, "I think you'll be an okay Sun."

This was clearly the most of a sort of kind of maybe perhaps compliment Gale could offer at the present moment and he slid a sideways glance at Otto, debating internally with himself for a long moment before talking again.

"So," he said, "Other than an apparent need to get your arse kicked in Sun, what else is new?"

Was he legit just... chatting with Gale like he was actually a buddy? Otto didn't even have buddies. Not really. But Gale was blunt with him, honest and didn't ******** around with games. So he was probably a good candidate for a decent friend.

"New?" Otto grimaced and ran a hand through his hair, "Uhh... I'm... kinda sorta seeing someone. Sorta.... Kinda." Why was this news Gale needed to hear anyway? He probably knew from Stormy if she was the gossipy type. But maybe she wasn't. He wasn't used to talking about non work related things. Work was easy to discuss.

"What's new with you?"

Maybe it was because he'd known Otto for longer than most on the island; or maybe it was because somewhere, some small part of Gale actually kind of sort of didn't mind Otto so much, as long as he didn't keep talking for long periods of time.

Or maybe it was because in spite of everything, Gale did not actually have very many male friends around his own age.

One eyebrow raised. "I think I heard something about that," he said. "Erm...Nevada, right?"

And then he added, with a shrug of his shoulders, "Not much new here, unless you count me aggravating His Majesty yet again. But other than that, and the fact that I no longer get to spend my time poking fun at you during Death meetings, nothing really has been happening lately."

"Yeah." Otto nodded. At least he didn't have to explain who she was.

"Again? Dude, you'd think you'd learn." Otto scoffed at his peer, leaning his weight to one side. "All you gotta do is keep your opinions to yourself and usually you keep your limbs and privileges in tact." Otto had gotten very good at it. Convincing his majesty of anything was a fool's game.
