Chayse lay in the shade, watching clouds roll by. All her children grown up and moved away, she had lots of time alone these days. Her mate Arctic was away again, dealing with things within his family. She was happy just relaxing and snoozing in the shade.

 Irridessa found herself wandering off from her family gathering place. No twin or brother to follow her. She could still feel the confusion her and her siblings sudden arrival caused. It didn't take her terribly long to find someone else to speak to. The mass of pink stuck out quite well and since her mother was a cotton candy coloration, it wasn't hard to pick out. She didn't feel the need to be cautious which for now hadn't gotten her into trouble.
"Hi!" she called out as she drew closer to the mare under the shade. Her stride slowed as she neared the tree. One blue eye peeked out from cotton candy colored mass of curls. "Nice day right?" she continued with an easy smile.

Chayse heard someone approaching and then a sudden "HI" broke her out of her daydream. "H-hello!" she replied, a bit startled from being brought back to reality so quickly. She looked around and saw the mare the voice had come from. "Hi there," she smiled to her. "Yes, yes it is. I was just enjoying the quiet and relaxing time to myself, but I would welcome some company if you want to chat a bit. "I'm Chayse." She got to her feet to welcome the young mare. "Nice to meet you."

Stopped short of the tree to let the mare adjust to her little intrusion. "Sorry for interrupting. I was just wandering by." Irridessa felt relieved that the other mare wasn't bothered by her presence.
"It's nice to meet you too Chayse. I'm Irridessa, or just Irri for something easier" she responded politely. "Are you relaxing out here without your family too?" Curiousity peeked on the other mare. She had a family herself so it made sense to her that every soquili she came across had one too.

"Oh no," she said, "You're not interrupting. I enjoy meeting new friendly faces." A slight breeze had started to blow the warm spring air. "Actually, yes. All my children are grown up and moved on so it's mostly just me and my mate and our familiars most of the time. Once in a while one of the children or grandchildren will come see me."
She looked around for any others who might have accompanied the mare. "I guess that's what you're doing? Getting away from the family for a bit?" She smiled at her, knowing all too well what some well spent alone time could do for a mare.

Irridessa frowned when the other mare spoke of her own family. It did sound rather lonely. "They don't visit you often? Well that's rude" she replied bluntly, stomping a hoof without thinking. She herself loved her family and couldn't possibly think of staying away from any of them long. Well.. maybe her twin sister. Her constant flirting was a bit embarrassing.
She nodded "Yes, for a bit. I love them but a break is nice." Her tail swished, brushing long curls against her hind legs. "My parents are still trying to deal with my siblings and I hehe. They might be a mess if they had grandchildren too" she said absentmindedly with a giggle. "Do you have many children and grandchildren miss Chayse?"

She chuckled at the young mare, remembering all too well what she meant about dealing with foals. "Yes, I have six children, ten grandchildren, and two great grandchildren. I feel like a very old mare just thinking about all those little foals. Though, mind you, they weren't all foals at once. I do miss having foals around. I hope to have more someday. I'm not too old yet that I can't have any, it just hasn't happened." She smiled, remembering her last brood of foals scrambling from their baskets. "I believe my youngest son just had children of his own, just now in their baskets. I plan to go see them soon."

Dual colored eyes widened at the number mentioned family. "Wow that is a big family" she commented. But with so many how was she so lonely? She wondered quietly this time, not wanting to upset the other mare. Instead she smiled, listening on about her family. "Aww how exciting!"

The dark and colorful mare nodded quickly "Oh yes, and a step brother too. My sister is my twin. So my mom says. She is a lot like our mother" she answered with a little laugh. "She could flirt all day long if there are males about." She paused to think a moment. She still knew little about her step brother. "My brother is really nice. I like following him around."
She swiped a hoof at the grass beneath her before continuing. "My parents.. well it's complicated. I know my mom loves my dad though she won't tell him that. And she still flirts with other males. It doesn't make much sense to me." Her shoulders rolled a little before her gaze drifted from the grass back to the pretty pink mare.

"It sounds like you come from a happy bunch. I've always thought that family is the most important part of someone's life. That is why I cherish mine so much. I didn't get a chance to enjoy my foalhood because I was left with the humans, but I have enjoyed my own children and mate as much as possible." She recalled moments from her own childhood when she was sad and alone, and despair began to fill her mind. She shook her head to rid herself of those thoughts.
"Thank you for telling me about your family. It has been wonderful to listen." She smiled at the young mare. Just then her stomach growled loudly interrupting their quiet conversation. "Oh no. I hadn't even noticed how late it was. I should probably find something to eat. Would you care to join me?"

Some of the other mare's words rang true for her. Yes her family was most important to her. And she would be miserable without them. The smile she carried in the though of them faltered a little when Chayse mentioned not having a good foalhood. It made her more curious. Like a cat to curiosity she wanted to ask her all about it and be a little nosy. If she learned anything from her father however, she knew it wasn't always a good quality in a soquili who butted in too much to personal business. "Those good memories will always outshine the bad when you let them shine in the darkest moments." She sounded so wise, much more then her meager life span thus far could have taught her. There were very little dark points in her own life she could even count for it. But it was something she picked up from her parents.
"It was nice to hear about yours as well." The sudden rumble of hunger interupted the quiet of the space they occupied. A smile crossed her features and the mare nodded. "I would like that. I traveled farther then expected" she answered, waiting politely on the pink mare to get up. Being that she wasn't used to this area she would follow her to a spot for grazing.

She smiled at the young mare and wondered how she had so much wisdom for such a youngster. "You are very much correct," she agreed and looked around to see which way she wanted to go. "Let me think..." she paused, pondering. "Oh, I know." She started walking north, and called to her, "I know where some trees are that bear some delicious fruit. You just have to come try them. My kids always loved to snack on them when they were young." She walked slowly, waiting for her to catch up.

Irridessa giggled "I do love fruit!" she chimed and followed the older mare. She trotted along beside her, glancing around at the scenery that the lovely pink mare possibly called her home. That slight warm breeze just barely fluttered her fragile looking wings.
Normally she would have shrunken down in size and ridden upon a back or flown herself along but she needed a good stretching of the legs. "I do hope you have a lovely time seeing your family. It's a shame they don't see you regularly. I can visit, if I find how I got lost here to begin with." she commented with another giggle. She didn't like to see someone so pretty, so sad.
