BRIEF SUMMARY OF FEARFICTION: As the captain of the black water pirates, Pokerus has set her sights on another pirate vessel to raid it's booty. But can she conquer it in the midst of a raging storm?
ENTRY HERE:
"Ahoy captain! Storms approaching on the port side. If we don't change our course soon we'll be sailing right into it!"
The captain regarded her first mate with a measured stare, adjusting the feathery hat on her head to prevent it from falling off. "I'm not about to let a few raindrops get between me and that damn b*****d. Keep a steady course, don't worry about the weather." From underneath the feather on her hat a small minipet showed it's face, The tiny viridian kushi twitching it's ears and then jumping onto the ghouls shoulder to watch the exchange. She smiled down at the creature, rummaging through her deep coat pockets for some seeds to feed it.
"B-but, it's only a ship. I'm sure we could find another one to raid..." It was clear the pirate did not approve of such a rash move. The dark clouds that billowed in the distance spoke of terrifying winds, high waves, and who knew what else that laid below the watery depths. But he also knew their captain thrived on the thrill of the hunt. Always after the most riskiest ventures, the captain of the black water pirates would never rest until she had captured the ship and pillaged the goods that it contained.
As the winds began to pick up, the ship sprang into action. Each crew member knew their role and performed it with utmost precision. Sails were brought down to protect them from the approaching gale, all loose items tied down or packed away. And while some prepared the ship, others were preparing themselves. Sabers and short words were passed among the handpicked crew that would accompany the captain when she boarded the ship.
The captain herself took over the wheel while the first mate made sure everything was going according to plan, taking a moment to pass her precious kushi to her first mate for safe keeping. With a tight grip she steered it through the rough ocean waves, ignoring the crash and boom of thunder rolling overhead. She ignored the first drop of water as the heavens opened up above her. The screech of the gale force winds rang in her ears, the torrential rain soaking her to the bone. But it was of no concern to her. For in the far distance she could see the ship, struggling to stay afloat in the storm. She wasn't about to let it get away.
"Prepare for boarding!" She roared to make herself heard. " If you aren't in the boarding party then keep yourself below deck or tie yourself to the ship, I wont have anyone being blown away."
The ocean threw and tossed the pirate ship around like a leaf on the wind, and yet the vessel still gained ground on their quarry. The captain held onto the wheel for dear life, moving and weaving with the bucking of their ship, carving a path through the ten foot waves that threatened to pull them down to Davy Jones locker.
In the distance she could see their target grow larger as they drew closer, inwardly glad it was still afloat. It would not do to have it sink before she got to it. A large wave loomed to the side of the ship, and she spun the wheel hard to the other side to steer it parallel to the breaking wave. Though it nearly toppled the ship with the gallons of water it splashed over the deck, it also added speed to their pursuit, and with a quick turn of the wheel she steered the boat until it was next to the other ship.
She gave the signal, the metallic scraping of steel as she withdrew her personal saber from it's sheath, holding it over her head and shouted a battle cry. The hook lines were thrown over the side, grasping the railings of the other ship. Cries of battle were heard as the black water pirates swung from the mast and landed on the other side with their blades drawn, followed by the captain herself. More shouts were heard as the crew members of the ship met them in battle. Soon the air rang with the clang of steel upon steel, each side trying to outmatch the other.
It didn't take long for her to spot the ship's captain, the chinking of armor alerting her to his presence. For a moment she stood in awe of his threatening form, easily towing over her own. The weapon he drew also caught her attention, the sheer size of the long sword something to be admired. But the spell was broken as soon as he charged, trying to scare her into backing away. Instead she side stepped his swing with a downward thrust of her sword, letting the rocking movements of the ship unsteady her opponent. It was why she was daring enough to perform this raid in such weather; with her smaller form it was easy to dodge his attacks and keep her balance on the unsteady ship, and she knew he would be distracted by the terror of the storm overhead.
She charged ahead, slashing and striking at the bigger captain. She could tell he was confused, stunned even, by the furry of her blade work, wondering how she could move so easily on the slippery wood of the deck. But as soon as her attack had started she backed away, eyes drawn to something behind him. He was curious as to what she could see, but he ignored it and jumped forwards, taking advantage of her lack of focus. She only turned her attention back when he had raised his sword above her head, ready to decapitate his rivals head.
The captain of the black water pirates grinned, and threw herself at the deck as the ten foot wave behind the other captain crashed over his head, sending him sprawling across the deck and over the railing, into the churning seas below. Though she was thrown about the boat herself, the pirate captain managed to keep herself from going over by grasping onto the railing of the ship. Soon she could hear the cries of dismay from their rival crewmembers as they realized they had lost their leader, followed by shouts of victory as her own crew took control of the ship.
"So, do you still think it's 'just a ship'? She asked as her first mate brought out the chest containing a generous amount of gold, silver, and gemstones to share amongst everyone, beaming as they all cheered. Even the kushi was jumping about in excitement, having been given a small pile of seeds to munch on in celebration
"No captain, I do not." Was the reply, followed by a skyward glance. The weather had finally started to clear up. Perhaps now they could have a rest and regroup before they found another ship to pursue.
