Naressa had found her way to the kitchen. It wasn't even lunch time yet but her stomach was grumbling and she was hungry, besides she was done with most of her tasks for the day and figured she could make something. She warmed up some Klah to drink and found some hearty herdbeast stew to heat up and stood quietly in the kitchen as she waited it wasn't long before the stew was warm and she placed it in a bowl and she took a seat on one of the counter tops and started humming to herself as she ate. In between her bites she found herself singing to herself.
The tears I feel today
I’ll wait to shed tomorrow,

She took another bite of food humming the melody to herself and after she took a sip of the Klah she sang a little bit more, completely unaware if anyone else might have come into the kitchen.
Though I’ll not sleep this night
Nor find surcease from sorrow.
My eyes must keep their sight;
I dare not be tear-blinded.
She had the bowl sitting on her lap at this point and her eyes were closed as she momentarily forgot about eating the rest of her food and she sang the rest of the song, not very loudly, but quiet and soft, her tone matching the sorrow of the words she sang.
I must be free to speak (talk)
Not choked with grief, clear-minded.
My tongue (mouth) cannot betray
The anguish that I know.
||: I’ll keep my tears till later;
But my grief will never go. neutral |

She looked down, her eyes still closed and then opened her eyes and saw something, or someone out of the corner of her eye. She took a bite of stew as she looked up and then cleared her throat slightly. "I see you." She wasn't sure if they were hiding or if they had perhaps just walked into view, but either way she had seen them and they had to come out now.

Fio's hair pricked on the back of his neck at the sound of someone's throat clearing. He had been trying to remain relatively unbothered, huddled in the back of the room and sewing on some colorful embellishments on one of his plain, weyr issued shirts. When someone had come into the room he hadn't stopped moving, but at the same time he hadn't announced his presence either. He was so used to being merely overlooked during a time when he wore the clothes of a drudge that being noticed often surprised him. His eyes darted up to the figure staring him down from across the room.

Absently, he realized how mysterious he must look in the dark, his glows having dimmed considerably over the time he'd been working. He let out a nervous sound, something that sounded almost like a laugh but not quite as he pulled the glow shutters open a bit further, allowing what was left of their glow to illuminate his form a bit better. His main shirt in his hand, it was a thin undershirt that covered his slim torso, male pants accentuating the fact that he was in fact male… Otherwise his pretty face and long braided hair made him look quite female. Even his voice was a high enough register to cause a tilt of the head.

"Today's my free day." He offered the explanation, feeling a need to justify himself under her scrutiny, but quickly looked back down to his work and continued to sew the pretty teal thread into swirling patterns on his shirt's cuffs.

That was all he had to say? Today's my free day? She looked closer to see what he was doing and she realized he was sewing. She noticed his femininity and she wondered why he chose to dress that way. "Are you... Sewing?" She asked moving closer. How odd, for a male to sew. She noticed that he was sewing designs into the shirts and she watched him work. She could understand fixing your own cloths, but actually sewing designs into cloths? "Those are interesting patterns." She said looking at his work. Why didn't he try to do something else? And look less... womanly. She didn't want to insult him so she didn't say anything else for the time being.

Admittedly, his silence was more a defense mechanism, not wanting to incite any ill will from the young woman. Instead, he merely nodded at her question and continued his work, continuing the intricate pattern he had started. This continued for some time, them merely sitting in silence as she watched him curiously, until finally he looked up and met her gaze. He tilted his head to regard her, a part of him somewhat suspicious, yet at the same time surprised that she had been so… non-harassing so far. Perhaps she wasn't going to make fun of him after all.

"Technically, embroidering." He mentioned gently. "The clothes the Weyr provides candidates is just a touch bland, especially for the… male candidates." He'd said that last bit with hesitation, flicking his gaze back up at her as if to gauge her reaction. "My name is Fiolen… just in case you were wondering." He shrugged. "And it seemed the polite thing to do-- introducing myself, that is."

His words were no stab at her obvious lack of courtesy up at this point. Instead his tone was quite sincere and polite, lilting up slightly higher as he spoke in gentle tones.

Sewing, embroidering, it was almost the same thing. One was fixing while the other was designing, both used thread and needle so it was close enough for her. At least he knew what she was trying to say. She listened as he talked about the cloths being bland and she shrugged, if he felt that way then by all means she wasn't going to stop him. "Whatever suites your fancy I suppose." She said calmly as she looked at him.

Was he mocking her?

She watched him silently for a moment and stared at him trying to decide if he was pulling her leg, but his tone said otherwise. He was being sincere, he was lucky his tone was so sweet and nice sounding or she might have came back with a snide remark. She did that sometimes, but she was learning to keep herself in check. Lack of children to play with growing up will do that to you. She had horrible people skills. Sometimes anyways. "It's nice to meet you Fiolen, I'm Naressa."

She wondered why he looked so feminine. Not that there was anything wrong with it, she just assumed perhaps it was because he liked guys and wanted to appeal to them. Surely he must know no girl, at least no one she knew which was nobody, would find that attractive. Though, you never know. "Interesting choice of appearance." She wasn't really sure how to comment him on his looks and that was about the nicest way she could think to phrase it. Perhaps he would explain or he could take it the wrong way. She'd soon find out.

There had been a carefulness about how he was approaching he conversation that may not have been obvious at first; not without having a baseline of how he would normally act around others. In truth.. he was still sort of developing said baseline with which he would use when interacting with equals. Her silent regard for him was terrifying, yet intriguing. It was like looking back into the face of a dragon, but not knowing whether that dragon would actually swallow you whole or not.

However, despite his slight reservations of the young woman, his mouth curled into a shy little smile, a delight shining in his eyes that he wouldn't.. or couldn't bother hiding. "It's very nice to meet you too."

How little this girl probably knew what it meant to Fiolen for people to talk to him so civilly. Yes. The blunt Naressa was obviously doing a stellar job at said activity by Fiolen's standards.

Her last statement though, caused him to pause just for a moment. It seemed he was sizing her up just as much as she was sizing up him. What did that mean? Was it a slight? Wait it mere curiosity?

"I like to cater things a bit more to my personal tastes, I suppose. You cold say that I'm a bit of a fan of looking pretty." Hooboy, that was a crackshell of an admittance right there. Funny though how it took one last look up at this 'dragon' to see that she wasn't' really a dragon at all, just a pretty young woman who was quite hilariously taller than himself by a good three inches, and looking at him with.. well. He couldn't read that expression at all. Neutral? Neutrally careful, perhaps.

His face flushed this time, turning his face, ears and shoulders a bright red and his hands gave a bit of a nervous shake. "Ah well, you see. I just don't think… I'm kind of a person without a really clear label, I guess. I… Well I.-"

In his haste, he stabbed through his index finger with the needle, causing him to retract quickly and give a quiet little swear. "Sorry."

He surely was polite, which was good. She needed to surround herself by nice people and perhaps their manners would rub off on her. Speaking of manners, she would have to find that Becka girl sometime soon and tell her that she hadn't meant to come off so brash to her on the hatching grounds. Speaking of hatching grounds... Why hadn't he been out there? Actually, she didn't think she'd seen him in any of the classes. Perhaps he was in a different group? The again she didn't pay much attention.

Her thoughts were distracted by his sudden admittance to look pretty. Did he just use the phrase 'looking pretty'? She was rather dumbstruck for a moment but it just reassured her thoughts of the fact that he was probably gay. Not that she knew he was straight but as the conversation went on she just more firmly started to believe that he was gay. Poor kid.

"There's nothing wrong with wanting to look nice." She said in return to his statement. She watched as he blushed at her comment of his apperance and then his comment alone made her ponder what exactly was going on in his mind. He didn't have a clear label? Did he not know if he wanted to be a guy or a girl? She was rather confused at this point. "You're going to have to clarify a little bit for me. Clear label?"

She was almost nearly convinced he didn't know what his sexuality was, or rather TRUE sexuality was. As there are always those that think their men trapped in womens bodies or visa versa.

She thought about the touching and she had recalled seeing him. "How'd you like the touching?" Time for a change of subject.
