What about it's IVs?
I have a shiny timid Alakazam, 252 sp. atk EVs, 252 speed EVs. I find myself not using it so much because I find Espeon's Magic Bounce to be much more useful. It also has max IVs in sp. atk, defense, special defense, and speed

Well, the two main choices are usually either Focus Sash or Life Orb; Focus Sash because the hidden ability Magic Guard (which is has) prevents indirect damage so status and entry hazards won't break it, and Alakazam has pretty poor defenses so it usually gets OHKO'd without one; Life Orb because it can gain a 30% boost to it's power but ignore the recoil, again because of it's ability. I've got plenty of battle points to spare due to grinding the Battle Institute for PP Ups, so I have both and can get more. Shame Garchomp barely looks shiny, though (not that I won't still take it)... Mega Garchomp is a definite change, but they just slid the brightness bar a little higher for shiny Garchomp.
