Roll an Eleven: Canyon Field: The canyon walls towers high towards the ceiling while the ground sinks downwards several levels, making the top and bottom of the field very difficult to see without special equipment. The cliff faces are very steep with little ridge support for grabbing and climbing; on top of that, the rock faces are very damp which makes grabbing and holding on very difficult. A few skinny trees and roots jut out from the cliff and allow smaller, nimbler pokemon to grab and swing around. At the very bottom of the canyon’s long drop is a deep pool of water. Keeping up is difficult for trainers on this particular battlefield, so stadium officials have set up a special view screen on each of the trainer platforms. A mini camera will follow your pokemon around while it battles (of course, it’s programmed to back off when a pokemon does an attack) and the view screen will enable trainers to issue commands to their companions via microphone. This field gives a 25 HP attack boost to FLYING and ROCK type attacks.

Lenore entered the stadium with her nose buried in a book. After knocking into the guard railing, she lowered it and sent out Elesh Norn.

Charlotte skipped into the stadium, excited to battle. She loved the canyon field! It was very serene and scenic - almost ironically so due to the intense battles that take place. She turned to face her opponent. "Hi Lenore! Long time no..." Her attention was drawn towards the pokemon already on the field. "Wha... wat is that? Is that a Darkrai??? Oh man... uh... maybe I should have planned this out a bit more..."
Nervously, Charlotte sent Azul out onto the field. The bidoof was also in awe at her opponent. "Woah, I didn't know you guys were even real..." she said to the shadowy pokemon. "Can't wait to see what you can do!!"

Lenore gave the girl a wave as Elesh Norn smiled wordlessly at Azul. "Alright, Ellie, start off with Focus Blast!"
The darkrai gathered energy in her hand, swirling it around before firing it at the bidoof.

Azul was struck hard by the energy blast. "OOF...!! I guess you're not a legend for nothin'..." she said with a sneer as she got steady on her feet again.
"Don't worry, Azul!" Charlotte shouted, not noticing that Azul wasn't worried at all. "We can do this! Use Rock Smash!"
Azul charged into a nearby rock face and sent chunks of the earth flying towards her opponent.

Elesh Norn tried to dodge, but an errant piece of rock hit her square in the face. Shaking some sense back into herself, the darkrai sent another energy blast at the bidoof.

The blast hit Azul even harder than last time and threw her right into a rocky wall. She cried out in agony. "Aagghaghh!! Maybe I'm in over my head..." she said as she struggled to stand back up.
"Eek! This isn't looking good... but we're not out of this yet! Azul, use Rock Smash again!"
Azul harnessed the fury building inside of her and slammed into the ground, sending even more debris than last time spinning into the air.

Hit again by the energy, Azul's balance was thrown off. It was becoming more and more difficult to stay focused as she continued to take heavy damage.
"Alright, clearly we need another strategy against her..." Charlotte said mostly to herself. "Azul, use Ice Beam!"
Still able to understand her trainer's commands, Azul gathered her her strength and shot out an icy ray towards the Darkrai.

"Awww yeah Azul!!" Charlotte cheered. "It doesn't look like it'll hold long, so let's make this one count! Rock Smash!"
Hoping that this would help turn the tides, Azul destroyed the rock formations around Elesh Norn, hoping her opponent would get crushed in the debris.

The ice quickly melted, but not in time to allow the darkrai to dodge. Pummeled by rocks, Elesh Norn shot another energy blast at Azul.

Hit once again by an energy blast, Azul struggled to stay away. "D-damn... I dunno if I can keep this up..." she murmured to herself. "If I get hit again... I'll..."
Charlotte could tell that both her and her pokemon were out of her league, but she wouldn't back down until the end. "One last shot! Azul, use Ice Beam!"
The bidoof nodded, and used all her strength to shoot ice at her opponent. She knew it was only to delay the inevitable, but she still gave it everything she had.
