Appearance: Standing at 5'2, Zareen leans towards the slender side of things. She is fairly delicate looking, with small and dainty features, and even with the muscles she has gained from candidacy, she isn't very intimidating.
Her hair is naturally black, though at the moment it is shaved. She's rather proud of that, and takes care to keep it nice, but she will be much happier once she's allowed to grow it back out again. Her almond shaped eyes are a light brown, just a little darker than her honey brown skin.
She has no scars of note, and she keeps her nails cut down short. When not in uniform, her clothes tend to be plain, comfortable, and practical, and in mostly neutral colors.
Personality: A quiet introvert, Zareen prefers to watch and listen to people talk rather than engage in much conversation, although she will put in her two marks' worth when asked. She tries to stay relatively unnoticed, something that is made much easier by staying out of the limelight.
However, she can't stay unnoticed all of the time, and it's just as likely for her to be caught or dragged into something as it is for her to remain on the outside. She doesn't really mind though, and will either grin sheepishly at being caught, or join in whatever is going on until she can continue on with her observing.
She is curious about anything and everything, which is one reason why she watches so much. She wants to know what's going on, who was involved, and how people reacted to it. However, she isn't a gossip, and if she knows something, well, good luck getting it out of her. That's not to say that she won't share what she knows, just that she won't give the knowledge out for free. She is more than willing to accept a bribe, especially if someone is willing to trade information or teach her something she doesn't know.
She enjoys learning things, and has a wide skill base, though she's not really good at anything outside of observing. She makes up for her lack of talent by being a hard worker, doing her best at whatever it is she's doing.
She has the potential to be a good leader, if someone were to put her in a position where she needed to be one, but on her own, she's just a follower. She is good at taking orders, and does not argue when they are given, even if she doesn't agree with them. She knows that it is better in a situation to act first, and question later.
History: Zareen was a surprise to her parents, the second born to a Journeyman Beastcrafter and his wife, coming along 17 turns after her older sister had been born. There had been thoughts that her mother couldn't have any more children, but Zareen had proved otherwise.
She was still young though, barely a toddler when her sister went off to be married, only to be seen during breaks, and on the rare occasion the family went to visit. She was a slightly spoiled child, indulged a bit when it came to gifts and sweets, but the girl very rarely took advantage of that. Except when it came to learning.
She took to the harper's lessons like a fish takes to water, spending as much time badgering him for knowledge as she could get away with. In fact, she was around her so much that the harper had jokingly began to call her an apprentice, and then, after the girl had turned 12, had approached her parents about perhaps sending her off to the Harper Hall for further instruction.
However, before this could come to pass, a rider came to their hold, on Search. He offered her a chance to become a candidate, and after a bit of thought, she accepted. Being a harper would have been cool, but being a rider... well, that was even better.
There were points during boot camp that she thought that she would end up dropping out, finding the work to be hard, and having trouble with the physical fitness, but she persevered, even with having to go through it twice. She was eventually squired to a green rider from the third wing, something that Zareen was rather pleased about. She had expected to be chosen by someone in the lower wings, considering how much difficulty she had had in boot camp, but she wasn't about to complain.
She tried her hardest at whatever her rider asked of her, finding that being a Squire was both harder, and easier than boot camp had been. She still had to keep up with lessons, chores, and her fitness levels, and had to do whatever her rider asked her to do.
It was worth it though.
It wasn't until the third time she braved the sands, hoping that this time, unlike the last, her partner would be on the sands. Many of the eggs hatched, leaving her to think that no, there still wasn't a hatchling for her, when Zyxth approached her.
"My name is Zyxth," he said, butting his head against her stomach. "And I am Hungry!" She was quick to feed him, and thus her weyrlinghood began.
THE DRAGON
Name: Zyxth
Age: 6 months
Colour: Bronze
Feel of voice: Silky, soft
Appearance: At 36 feet, Zyxth isn't one of the larger bronzes. He is built more for speed than the average bronze, with a muscular streamlined figure. He has perfectly proportioned wings, and despite being small, is rather what some imagine a perfect bronze to look like.
He has a pale shimmery bronze hide, completely solid in color. He has no markings, or even scars marring his hide, but that will likely change once he grows old enough to join a wing.
Personality:Zyxth is soft spoken and reserved, not interested in just speaking for the sake of it. If he is having a conversation with anyone other than his rider, it is because he finds the topic important, and feels the need to share that with the one he is speaking to. He can be a little stubborn with his beliefs, especially when it concerns what's right or wrong, and if you're doing something wrong, he will let you know.
He's the sort of dragon that prefers to give someone a chance to change their actions, but is also the sort that believes if you don't shape up after you're given a warning, then you deserve whatever punishment you get.
He's not very sympathetic towards those who don't do their best as he takes his job very seriously. There will be no slacking for this dragon, or his rider, or the dragons who end up being in the same wing with him. He will hold them to the same standard that he holds himself to, and will have a tendency to pester the ones who aren't at least trying to improve.
As for flights, Zyxth will be rather indifferent to them, choosing his partners in relation to how his feels about the rider. She is the most important thing to him, and he does everything in his power to make sure that she stays safe and happy.
