It was time to get out of here. Roch wasn't sure where he was going, or what he'd do--he probably should stick around and be a good little trick or treater. But he wasn't going to. He shoved the last of his things into his big bag and swung it over his shoulder, picking up a few of his minipets and shoving them into the closet. They'd find him later, he figured. He stepped out of his Dad's place, glancing back at it once before shrugging. Time to get some food and get out of town, he thought, glancing at his phone one last time. He should tell someone he was leaving, he thought. But... maybe he'd run into someone at the eye scream shop, he decided as the sign came into view. If not, well, at least he'd have eye scream!

It was time for her to leave too. There was just a little bit of paperwork left to do, but the plans for graduation were in order. Meanwhile, the ghoul had been taking frequent walks around Halloween Town, thinking about what she would do after she left school. There were a few familiar faces here and there in some of the shops, people had already moved on and were getting busy. She should, too. But there were still some lingering feelings... of school and the heart... that were still not resolved. She had not visited the auction house yet, despite passing by every trip here to town. Not now, not yet.
Stepping into the eye cream parlour, the ghoul wondered what it would be like working there instead. It wouldn't take too much work, for her at least, though she could imagine the routine starting to become dry after a while. What else could she be doing, she pondered as she ordered her usual scoop of mint eye scream.

The off key bell rang and everyone at the counter glanced up as Roch walked in, carrying his bag over his shoulder. He stepped into line, his eyes on the counter--at first. Then a very familiar cold caught his attention and he looked up. "Edel?" he said with a hint of surprise. There was a glimpse--just a tiny one--of hesitation on his face before he grins. "Didn't expect to run into you!"

It had been a while.
It had been quite a while.
Edel didn't really know what to say. She had been alone by herself for a long time now.
She blinked at him. "Hi."
What should she say? There were lots of things to talk about, surely. There was a long pause. She waited for them to come to her.
"Have you graduated?" she asked, her tone slowly regaining that sense of familiarity, "Things have been well for you, I hope?"
The ghoul paused to find an empty seat, motioning for them to sit down. Edel turned to look at the reaper and wondered quietly how much of him was now a stranger. Or perhaps... she was the stranger instead.

"Yeah," he said a bit slowly. It was more because he was juggling a huge thing of eye scream in his hands. "I graduated. I'm now... what was it... Roch the swift and daring," he says, still a bit amused by that fact. "I guess I did alright. You gone through yours yet?" It felt a little awkward, probably because he was sitting on the news that he was planning on walking away and not coming back for a seriously long time.

Edel's brows furrowed for a moment, confused. "Swift and daring...?" she repeated curiously. Was a it a title bestowed onto him perhaps?
"Not yet," she shook her head, "but it should be any time now."
Glancing over his bag, the ghoul guessed that he might have already left the school dorms and was staying elsewhere. She hadn't seen him around the campus as of late.
"Are you going somewhere?" she asked, not knowing what to expect for a reply.

He hesitated as he sat down. "I... aw, hell, I'll be honest," he said quietly. "I ain't had nothin' but pain, heartbreak and scars from this area, Edel. Sure, I got family here, I might stop by once in a red moon and check on them, but I got enough skill to make cash enough to eat, and I've got a bike, so... I figure why not leave it all behind? So... I'm gonna," he said right before digging into his huge eye scream. He was feeling a bit guilty for it, but he wasn't going to change his mind.

She listened and took it all in calmly.
...
"Take me with you," she said, almost too quickly and as if she hadn't realised the gravity of what she was saying. "I've always wanted to try riding a bike."
She paused for a scoop of eye scream.
"Let's go somewhere, somewhere new, it doesn't have to be far away. We could busk on the streets, we'd make a good duet I think." She was daydreaming, but was all too serious at the same time.
"I will return here, however. But for now, I'd like to leave it all behind. So-" the ghoul levelled him a look, "Please."

He hesitated, tapping his spoon in the almost empty bowl in front of him. "I..." he started out, wondering what he should do. "Y'said you were gonna graduate, right? You should do that first," he said, scraping the ice cream from the bottom. "I mean, if y'do it quick... I guess I can wait." Why? He'd been planning on leaving it ALL behind. All the reminders. Every time he looked at Edel he was reminded of the horsemen trials, watching helplessly as she was turned into a weapon-- Maybe that's the reason he'd be willing to do it, he realized. Because he'd tried to leave her behind that time. It seemed almost cruel to leave her now that they had a way out.

She had forgotten about that. Yes, it would be best for her to tie up all those loose ends first...
"Fine,' she conceded, putting her spoon down. "But promise me you would. I'll send you a text when it's done."
She tapped the table with her finger. Now what.

"This isn't t'get in my pants, is it?" he asked abruptly. "Cuz if it is, I'm gonna need t'get some sort of charms that ward off frost--" he stopped, flushing slightly as he realized that there were kids in the room.

Edel stared long and hard at Roch.
"Whatever helps," she answered dryly.
...
"No."

He shrugged, having figured it was a dead end, anyway. Plus, frostbite stopping charms would probably add up, cash-wise. "You got anywhere in particular y'wanna go?" he asks, contemplating another eye scream. "Like a direction? I'd like t'avoid any large bodies of water... for personal reasons."
He was still chafing over the whole Amphi thing.

"...Just a town of sorts, with things and people to see," she answered thoughtfully. "Extreme climate conditions wouldn't suit the both of us I'd imagine."
"I'd just like to see what it could have been," she mused.

"Fine," he says. "After you get back from your graduation we'll get an empty bottle, spin it, and go in that direction." It didn't matter to him, as long as it was away from here.
