The borclu had hardly time to finish her sentence before Faiz knew something was amiss. A glance towards her, gave him all the information he needed to know.

They'd been discovered.

Which of course, could only mean one thing. A fight, or fights as it would seem. There was a perfect number of them to match the perfect number of his team. A frown a disappointment crossed his maw but for a second before vanishing. Fighting was becoming a chore more than a sport, and he was beginning to dislike that about it.

Back in his youth it had been all about the blood sport!

Now it was simply about ripping one another's throats out in order to find their Bey.

If that was the case, he supposed he had no choice but to obey. Sizing himself up against the others, he noticed a female making her way towards his throat. Her claws extended and a mean look in her eyes.

Looks like he'd found his opponent.

Like it or not.

Havyan had felt a delicious thrill upon spying the encroaching enemy. Qyrs? Here? This deep into their territory, her territory? She could feel her teeth and claws tingling, eager to soak in enemy blood. Her den with Sungus was growing too cool in the evening - another pelt would help soften the rough stone floor! It was a simple matter of sizing the opponent up before she surged forward away from her patrol companions. She dove, claws out and razor sharp, for the male stalking at the center of their little group. She only recognized the one of them - a sister of the damned Qyr bey, but the male was between her and that target. There'd be time to gut HER later - surely her companions would best their foes, and she'd not let them down. She was not Hatun for nothing.

She launched off the slight dune she'd been spying from atop, making use of the height advantage while she had it. She leapt to land atop his back, grabbing what hold she could - not half as much as she'd hoped, but enough to wet her claws. - before sliding off to circle him none too patiently. He was decently large, but nothing impressive.

"Come then!" She snarled, lashing at the air between them with a rapid strike. "Or will me account of your death be full of jokes to mark your cowardice, Qyrhyeshti cub?"

Her taunts did little to stir his restless spirit, taunts were pointless things. Wastes of time used by those who didn't feel as though their claws were up to par with those around them. He smirked at her words, his teeth beginning to bare as she closed in. Soon she landed upon his back and he could feel the claws digging into the flesh there, there was sure to be blood yet it mattered not.

With a yowl of anger , the male shook his back in protest doing as best he could to shake her from his body.

"Cowardice? You have mistaken me for someone else Burkuteshti scum! Release your claws from my back and face me like the warrior you are meant to be!"

The lioness snorted, all too eager to oblige. She wasn't called 'beast' for nothing, and her mother had named her well. She had no fear, and her boasts came of confidence more than cowardice. Perhaps over-confidence. Still, she slithered from the male's back, snaking around to lash out at his face with her paws, huge heavy slaps that would have sent a lesser lion reeling...if they'd connected. It was just her luck to come up slightly short, left clawing at air rather than flesh.

((Sorry some of mine might be short. I am not good at action scenes!))

Faiz nearly let out a laugh of outright humiliation at the sight of the female's blatant mistake. But he was a far better fighter than to make such mistakes. In his book, part of the art of fighting was to honor your opponent. Be they from your own side or the side of your enemy.

Blinking off his choices, he took the opportunity to strike the enemy while she was off guard. Darting to her left, he outstretched a paw and slid it right underneath her back feet. Causing her to come crashing to ground with a blunt thud.

*pat pat* Neither am I! So we're both evenly matched on that turf!

Havyan snarled as she came thundering to the ground. The air rushed out of her in a whuff! ...But this was not a time she could lay about and take deep calm breaths to get it back. Almost before she'd decided to do it, the lioness had one hind paw back under herself, shoving her back upright, and the other rear one lashed out as if she were springing, pouncing ... but rather than launch herself forward, it was a kick back, and she felt the satisfying jar of the foot connect solidly with the male. Head, chest, side, it was too hard to see just what she'd whopped, but there wasn't time to waste. She retracted the foot an instant after her kick landed and sucked a ragged breath as she spun to fix her opponent with a blazing stare. She could catch her breath while she tore him apart!

Success!

Faiz snorted a bit to himself in honor of his small victory before trying to regain his own composure. That tactic had caused him a bit of balancing issues, but nothing he couldn't overcome given the time. Standing still for a moment, he overestimated just how much time he would have before the lioness below him recovered.

He was corrected with a resounding CRACK as his ribs groaned under the weight of her kick's power. His body flung into the tree behind them with a loud crack. He'd probably broken a good portion of the back from the trunk.

He nudged himself slowly at first, testing for broken bones. Nothing broken. Just slightly sore. But she didn't have to know that just yet did she?

She was satisfied to see him crumpled against a scraggly tree. Pity if that was all it'd taken to lay him low, hut she HAD felt a nice crunch when she'd kicked. Perhaps she'd broken a rib or two? Wouldn't that be just nice. Some lovely bleeding inside or if she was very lucky a punctured lung. He'd be easy enough to peel the fur from. She stalked towards him, certainty in her eyes and murder on her mind. He was struggling weakly - she HAD this, HAD him...or so she thought.

She was falling for his ploy perfectly. She need only come a few steps closer and she would be within his range. He squirmed a bit more for theatrics, feeling the slight pain in his ribs. Yes, he would be bruised for a few weeks at the least. But that was not the trouble at the moment.

One final step, and she was right where he wanted her. The look in her eyes told him all he needed to know. she thought she'd won already. He wanted to smirk, but there was no respect in that. Instead he outstretched his paws in a flash and wrapped them around her neck. Extending his claws into her flesh and yowling in anger and fury. He knew it wasn't the best move he could make, but given his current position against the tree it was likely the best he could do.

She snarled in surprise, displeasure, and then pain as he lunged up, wrapping his front paws around her neck and dragging her down. She could feel where his claws had sunk in along her shoulders and the back of her neck, but thankfully she tucked her chin to her throat just in time to avoid any potential biting. She twisted in his grip, glad that at least he'd pulled her down atop him. The height advantage again. She made use of her still-free paws and scrabbled at his exposed flank, though it was hard to get a good angle on him. She fought to remain half-standing, not wanting to get into a real grapple where she could potentially be rolled under him and pinned, as he was, against the tree.

Smooth move Faiz.

Pulling your enemy right into your comfort zone.

What were you trained by an idiot?

The male yowled in pain as the female dug her claws into his flank. He could feel her claws not only digging into new flesh but also tearing into old scars. The pain was searing, but still nothing he couldn't handle. Though if he had to be honest, he would at least prefer not to tear open old wounds.

She was still atop him, and for that he was glad. He could easily push her off with his own weight, but what to do after that ... he had no idea.

Slowly he pulled his back paws under the female as she clawed at his flank. Finally he had them in position and kicked her hard enough to push her off of him. Finally he was free.

Now he just had to come up with a plan.

AND FAST!

Havyan: 7/10 HP remaining.

Bad luck for the male, Havyan wasn't born yesterday. And for all her blind savagery, her mind was cooler than would be expected. She felt the creep of his hind legs pressing into position under her bulk, and though she pretended to be focused on dragging her claws through his side, she braced herself. He kicked her away, but he did not steal her breath again. And he did not throw her from her feet. She landed spryly on her own hind legs, taking one, two frantic steps to rebalance herself - and then leapt forward, all but plowing towards the male once more, all too keen to keep him from getting back up. A biting attack would reveal too much of her neck, and get her in too close, so not that. She flew at him claws-first, aimed for his open flank. The same flank she knew she'd kicked before, if not exactly what spot on his dingy pelt.

Times up!

Plan failed!

The female was back on his flank before he could blink, and the sensitivity on his flank was rearing its ugly head once more.

Faiz roared in pain, the pain searing his brain making him nearly incapable of thinking. But he had to think, there had to be a way to get this insatiable female off of him. She had a thirst for blood that he would not allow her to quench upon himself.

He needed her off of him, but a simple kick wouldn't do the trick again. She would be open to the idea. Alert to the very idea of such a tactic existing.

But a roll? Sure, he was up against a tree, but could he successfully roll her into the tree while rolling himself away from it?

He could only try.

He waited for the perfect moment, that felt like an eternity. He could fele his flank being shredding like last night's meal. But he put all his focus into the roll. A simple motion to the right, hard enough to cause instability and he hoped the female would slide off. If she managed to lose her balance, he would seize the moment to take his own leave.

Havyan: 7/10 HP remaining.

THIS was her element. Peeling fur and skin from muscle and bone, Havyan was a wild thing, eager to paint her limbs to the elbows in gore. Of course, that sort of bloodlust was never good for a mind that tried to think strategically. And Havyan was confident. Too confidant. She was sure now that she had won. She'd wear the male's mane home as a trophy and lay it at her Bey's feet. Or that was the plan. His sudden shift caught her unprepared, and she suddenly found herself not at all where she'd been a moment ago. And losing her advantage! Her head cracked smartly against the trunk of the tree and her vision spun as she tried to shake off the painful blow, momentarily ignoring her prey.
