THE RIDER Name:Brishen Age: 19 Gender: Male
Appearance: Brishen is a copper top, his hair is bright coppery brown and is a curling mess now he has to keep it so short. He hates it. His nose is crooked, having been broken twice in his youth. His eyes are hazel, set a tad too far apart and with very long lashes. His upper lip is thinner then his bottom and has a strong chin. Brishen could be considered tall at 5’11’’ in height and around 180-190lbs of mainly muscle. Though he is now apart of Highreaches, his skin still has an olive cast to it, though he is not as dark as he was when growing up in Ista.
He does have a dusting of freckles over his nose and brow during the height of the summer months. They fade in his skin tone rather well over the rest of the turn.
He misses colors, a lot. Brishen loves bright colors and layers and designs. He been wearing grey for too long. The blue is okay. Better then the ugly grey. He also likes simple bangles and bright bits of metal. He is a bit of a magpie... if it is bright, shiny, and colorful, chances are he will find a place on his person to wear it. The more bright shinny things, the better.
Personality: Brishen is a bit of a romantic, he falls for the idea of love easily, giddy at the excitement and mystery of being involved with another person. He likes to attempt to match make and is a bit gossipy, ‘did you see so and so last night? They were making eyes at so and such, they might be a cute couple.’ Lust doesn't escape him and two hated enemies with some unresolved sexual attention is going to attract his interest in getting them to scratch an itch.
He is very social, Brishen lives for people and dragons. They understand him and he has Hazmath to translate and now he has a whole new audience to chatter too. He is very happy for company, at nearly any time, though midnight is going to get a bleary…‘mmhm? No, come back later.’ His matchmaking tends to be mostly speculation, a musing of ‘if, when, and how’ though if doing group work, he will take the opportunity to suggest ‘so and so’ should work together on such a part. Or if someone is having trouble with an assignment it could come out ‘Do you know who is brilliant with that? So and so, why don’t you ask them for some help?’
He is rather observant. He loves watching people and if he needs help, he is okay with asking for help. A lot of it comes from genuine interest in people. Brishen is ‘Good morning, and how do you think you did on the test. How did your date go. Etc.’
He can be a bit short sighted, as a person he is very grounded in the here and now. Days ahead, let alone weeks or even months don't cross his mind. Spontaneous and erratic, full of energy and brightness, and complete morning person, Brishen can be a bit difficult to deal with. Specially keeping him on track of more monotonous chores. The daydreaming doesn't help. Cleaning leather is boring. History can be really boring.
But when intrigued and challenged, Brishen is focused. Sharp concentration on a single task till it is finished and done well. It will be done well, perhaps not to perfection, he has never been a perfectionist, but it will be completed in a timely fashion.
So, Brishen does try to make things he finds boring or difficult more of a challenge. It helps that he is often doing chores with a group of people. Cleaning leather and a lot of other things eventually becomes muscle memory so he can do them and chatter or discuss things that don’t make sense. Like homework. Homework can be boring, but chattering about if during chores ‘So, who was weyr leader after such and such, and why do you think they were called ‘The Great’’ It might get plan silly but it keeps him on task.
He is also prone to touch, handle, and physically examine objects that catch his eye. Which can lead to him being a bit in your face, especially when he exclaims about your hat, touches the feather, and then tries it on. Personal space Brishen, space. He has some restraint, don’t touch the Holder’s cloak, though that fur looks so soft. He bet it is very, very soft. Also people who have reacted badly before tend to be given more space, and question of “Can I touch your things?” Close friends will find themselves used as arm rests, chin rests, and spontaneous receivers of hugs.
There are things you just don’t gossip about. What people, and dragons do in front of others is fair game. Someone making a complete aft of themselves is completely gossip friendly. Accidently stumbling on someone making out in a closet isn’t. Even if you really, really want to say something. Well, “I stumbled on someone making out in the closet” is okay. Brishen has figured out the art of gossip to a delicate skill set, though he stumbled and crashed before being a candidate. He lost friends in Ista before because of gossip and stumbled when he moved back and felt just awful about it.
Instead of stopping whatever thing happened that he felt awful about, he decides he should get better at it. He did something wrong and that means that he should be able to do it right.
History: Brishen is the first born child of Eli, a journeywomen weaver, and an unknown dragon rider from High Reaches. Eli's not telling. Brishen is mostly okay with this. Eli been mostly elusive about the subject, saying they had been close, maybe they could have gotten married (wishful thinking on her part) and then he did something bravely stupid and she wishes she could strangle him for leaving her pregnant and that he was a good man, but that all he was.
He grew up among sheep, wool carding, cotton, and rather pleasant weather, Eli having left High Reaches for Southern Boll weaving craft hall after his father’s death. Brishen spent time at the crèche, lessons when he got older, or with his mother as she worked, passing her items and getting dye on his fingers. Brishen was seven when Eli caught the eye of a glass worker from Ista, in the area to see his cousin married. Eli was cagey, she had a son, lost a husband, perhaps could get her mastery, if she worked hard enough. Fahard was charming, a skilled worker, a widow himself, and older than her lost husband perhaps it could work. Brishen liked him.
And he did. Fahard was interesting and kind and Brishen got to spend a lot more time with his mother, and they went out together and he was rather charmed. Perhaps it was the time frame, but when Fahard asked her to come with him the eight day of their courting, she said yes.
Ista was nothing like Southern Boll, it smelt different, tasted different, was just different and Brishen was over whelmed. The first storms drove him seeking comfort and while never shy, he found himself over chatty, trying too hard, and somewhat of a tattle tale till Fahard talked to him. He wanted to be just like Fahard for the longest time, huge eyed as he watched the other work with glass.
He ended up with siblings, a sister name Phara, and a pair of twin brothers called Emid and Flil. Brishen was still gossipy, but it settled to more vast retellings of what had happened around him, specially anything romantic happening with his friends. His tenth turn, Fahard treated him and a group of friends to a paid firelizard hunt on Ista beaches. Luck had to be with them, because they found a nest of five eggs, nothing metallic, but still a good size clutch and the egg he choose hatched a little brown ( or green) who he named Crest (nails).
Then the dragon plague came and Eli and her husband started to fight about the politics, her craft, everything. It started slow, snippets of temper and boiled till it burst. Brishen heard more about his actual father then he ever had, including the foolish rescue attempt that had killed him. He found himself being used by his foster father for information, and instead of closing mouth, cheerfully went on about his mother day, grossing over a lot of unpleasantly, because she was his mother. He romanticized his father, the green dragon, being a rider and decided he rather wanted to be one.
After the plague came to a close and the civil war started to ease, Eli decided she had enough. She divorced him, left Fahard behind with her toddlers, and took her daughter and eldest son and headed back to High Reaches hold. Eli could care less about the stigmata of the divorce, she was through with men in general and hoped he choked on his savvy charming tongue.
It hurt, leaving Ista and his half siblings behind. His mother was bitter about halfway through their travels and soften when they reached High Reaches territory, talking about old friends and dragon riders and became relaxed when they reached High Reaches hold and sought out a job. She started working again and Brishen found himself once again at lost.
Things never seemed quite real till they once again settled, as if life could turn back and now he missed Fahard and the twins and his friends and the sun. The first snow fall was shocking, and cold. Really cold. He found his feet after a bit, making friends and then the dragons came. Eli was talking more, never letting the name slip, but Brishen knew he ended up with his father’s hair and eyes and when he decided to stand. Eli sighed, but nodded and said it was probably for the best.
He could be a dragon rider! All the chivalry and romance and brilliance of the harper songs and his mother stories and… actually, candidacy was not fun. Ugly grey clothes and they shaved his hair and now whenever it starts coming in it curls something horrible, and none of the songs mention spending candlemarks at ends learning dry history and math. It was a bit startling, but everyone had to start somewhere didn’t they? And it be a rather boring harper song about addition and subtraction equations and he could do this.
Boot camp went alright, Brishen was disgusting cheerful morning person most of the time and that lead to a right round of companion bitching. He made friends easily, and kept rather good humored even when exhausted. He was constantly surrounded by people which was cool, who were all trying to be a candidate and no one was really above one another.
He squired to no one overly important, Brishen liked the woman even if she was a grumpy cuss in the mornings. Grumpy, short, fiery rider of the fifth wing. Though after a bit of thought, the candidate master might have decided he needed to work on numbers or something of that line. Working with ledger sheets and cross referencing certainly was more interesting then papers of math equations. While he never got the good head for numbers, he had a very good eye for details.
The first clutch he stood for was a turn before the interval ended. He didn't meet his bonded then, or the next. It was an odd mix of excitement to see the dragons hatch and keeping out of range of claws and teeth and a feeling of slight unease because they didn’t seem interested in him.
In the most current clutch, Hazmath hatched early, the blue more or less exploding out of his stunning egg and after a bit of play and knocking Brishen on his aft, bonded. Impression rainbows and all that glee.
Alll the love!
Firelizard: Brown Crest or Green Nails Rather have Crest truthfully
THE DRAGON Name: Hazmath Age: 6 months Colour:Blue Feel of voice: the bubbly lightness of a creek, fizz of carbonated bubbles, the tang of salt and a hint of smoke Appearance:
Personality: Hello! Hi there! Blue Hazmath is very happy to see you! He's ready to play, and explore and--oh! ...What if you don't like him? What if he's bothering you? What if you never want to be friends?! THAT CAN'T BE!
Ok, so perhaps Hazmath is a bit explosive when it comes to his emotions. He doesn't really mean any harm by it, and more often then not his rider can safely rein him in to resemble something like 'calm' or perhaps just 'collected.' This blue loves getting worked up, although admittedly he prefers the positive kind that leads to Great Adventure or just a round of good laughs with his wingmates. He'll always be a volcano ready to go, if a soft-flowing and bubbly type of volcano with frequent burps of gaseous OMG! No one ever said being high-energy meant being out of control!
Most of the time Hazmath is a silly and enthusiastic blue, average in both size and intelligence. He's not the one superiors would pin the 'troublemaker' badge on, but he would be second or third in line. Generally easy to get along with, dragons made of sterner stuff might find him a bit exasperating but everyone else would probably just find him funny. On the wing he'll be dedicated and enthusiastic, though his rider will have to manage his energy levels to avoid him becoming too tired before the drill is complete. Chasing females will also have to be handled in a similar fashion, though at those times Hazmath would prefer that his rider just take a back seat and let him play a bit.

Hiya! Just a few things before we can get Brishen approved :’D
In terms of his personality, it would be great to get a little more detail. How have people reacted in the past to his matchmaking and gossiping? Is he very social? Does all this attention imply that he’s very observant? Has he ever hurt someone with gossiping? If so, how does he react to it?
Has anyone ever tried to help him with his attention span? It seems like losing concentration easily would be a big problem for things like threadfall drills, and could easily lead to a lethal mistake. What is it that does interest him? What makes him focus and why?
How have people responded to his lack of respect for personal space? Does he change his habits based on this, and what does it imply about his respect for others? What about when he’s doing this to his superiors? Or does he avoid that?
What are his goals? What does he want out of life? Why accept the search? Does he have hobbies? You imply that he makes friends easily, but can you make this more explicit? How does he treat these friends?
Okay, in terms of his history - why was his father a dragonrider? What made his mother raise a child by herself - something that would be horrendously shameful for an unmarried woman? Did she do something like moving and saying she had been married? Or brazen it out? How did she meet a man from Ista - remember that travel is both very expensive and very time consuming unless you can afford an incredibly expensive dragon courier - and why did she move there? Similarly, why move back from prosperous Ista to war-affected High Reaches? Why did she leave two of Brishen’s siblings there? What does Brishen feel about this, considering he’d be less then likely to see them again? How did he feel about leaving his foster-father? Similarly, more detail about how he felt about his dreams of chivalry being quashed by hard work would be awesome. It would also be great to hear about his Squiremaster - always a great place to find a PC and make connections! - and what wing he wants to go into.

Hi!
Just a note on his history - dragonriders don’t marry as a rule, and are very, very unlikely to have married a holder XD!
Thanks, hope to get him approved soon!
