The glass felt cool beneath his hands as he stopped in front of the exhibit. His dark eyes slowly widing as he watched the huge fish slowly swim by, it's great fins moving like slow wing beats in the water. He slowly pressed his entire face against the smooth glass of the huge tank until his breath had fogged the glass to the point that he had to lift his face away to see.
Emer's heavy boots thudded threw the underground passage slowing when she finally caught up to Kale. Her hands braced on her knees as she panted to catch her breath. "Kale.... d-don't run off on me like that." Her eyes squeezed shut as she remembered why she loved cars so much. It beat exercies anyday....
Kale crained his head over to the side, smiling as he looked over at his Mom. "Okay Momma." he replyed brightly. He moved to the other side of the tunnel to see what was in the other tank, and a slow sigh of awe breathed out of him as he watched a great white swim by.

"Oooh, look at these!" Laial exclaimed as he ran over to a tank of multi-colored fish and leaned in closer for a better look. "Aren't they pretty?"
Maji trailed behind the nautilus child wearily. "Laial...we were here...before..." And this was true. The first thing Laial did when he walkied in was run through the aquarium to see if they had squid avalible for viewing. After seeing that they did not, Laial ran back to the front of the building to view everything 'the right way'. Of course, Maji kept up with him the entire time, not wanting to let him wander off again like she did at the fair. She wanted to keep a proper eye on him.
Which meant running around like a crazy maniac most of the time.
"Laial...you have to...slow down a little..." she breathed. She looked around only to see a giraffe child staring at the same tank Laial was. Well, what do you know, another D-Corp kid...

Kale raised his head and looked over at the redheaded nautilus boy and smiled brightly. "Hi! I like these fish. Thier pretty."
Emer looked up and over towareds the newcomers, an elegant eyebrow arching over her dark sunglasses. The silver browring glittering in the sunlight. She was sitting on the floor as she caught her breath, her back to the cool wall. She smiled, "D-corp?"

"Ja, but I wish they had sqeed. I li' them better. I also wish that they'd let ya swim with 'em." Laial ranted, still looking at the fish. He was slightly distracted, so he ended up saying whatever came to his mind.
"Yep." And tiresome too... Maji glanced at the other kid again. "What's the DNA of yours? Giraffe?" It was somewhat of a wild guess, but she knew of a giraffe kid, and this one looked like he could fit the bill quite easily.

Kale tilted his head, blinking slowly. "What is sqeed?" He turned looking over at Emer. "Momma, what is sqeed?" Almost in the same breath he was looking back at Laial, "I no mind not swiming. To much water." He sruntched up his face as he shook his head back and forth.
Emer's shoulders relaxed a bit as she leand her head agaistn the cement of the wall. She nodded, "Yeah, what about yours?" She turned to look at Kale her lips parting to say she didn't know when she relized he was ignoring her once again. She laughed softly, the husky sound echoing threw the corador. "Orphues has filled me in some, but there is still alot for me to find out."

Laial grinned and took a deep breath. "A sqeed is li' a nautilus, 'cept it doesn't have a gian' shell. I' has a li'le shell in it's head. I' has a HUGE head an' i' has lotsa tentecles tha' have li'le suckers a' the end of 'em. They come in different sizes, some are reeaally small, and some have eyes li' a basketball!"
"Laial, don't forget to breathe!" Maji called out to him before turning her attention back to Emer. "He's a special one; a nautilus. I didn't even know they existed before..." Before that day.

The toddlar just staired at him, his mouth open a bit. "Ten-it-kuls? he mummred slowly taken back by the title wave or words.
"Nautilus? Isn't that a sea creature?" She arched an eyebrow, "And he is okay out of the water?"

Laial gave him a 'you-don't-know-what-that-is?!' look. "Tentecles. Like extra arms," he replied, waving his own tentecles around for emphasis. "They hold stuff, and they useful." He nodded sagely at the end.
"Yeah, although he does like the water a lot. He talked about 'swimming with the fishes' when we came here, and I began to freak out before relizing he meant that literally." Maji chucked a bit at the end. "If his mental health is affected...I really can't tell."

Kale's eyes widned as his attion was drawen towareds the tenicales that where attached tot he red heads's body. "Wow..." he mummrered in a hushed awe, slowly he stepped forwared reaching a hand out carefully towareds one of the extra arms. He turned and looked over at Emer. "Momma! Why don't I get tent-it-kuls like him?" the toddlar demanded.
Emer chuckled warmly and shook her head, "I'll tell you, parenthood certinally has affected my mental health. Kale doesn't seem to like or need to sleep much. He likes it here, but I think he perfures watching to actully diving in. She turned to look over at the two youngester, "Ummmm, becuse your not suppose to?"
"Oh, okay." The answer seemed to satisfy the giraffe boy well enough as he turned back to Laial grinning happily, "I like them!"

Laial grinned. "I li' them, too. I wou' li' it be'er if I wa' a sqeed, though. They don't have this," he ended pointing to his shell. "I don't li' my shell. I' gets in the way too much. Li' trying to run, or trying to swim..." Laial sighed at the end. There were so many things he couldn't do.
"I'm just worried Laial will suddenly decide he wants to dive in. Do you know how hard it is to stop a child whose shell weighs at least 30 pounds? I can't just grab him by it either, or the connection could break." Maji din't know what would happen then, but she had the idea it would be a very bad thing.

Kale tilted his head, looking over at Laial's bright white and red striped shell. "I like it, it looks shinny."
Emer nodded, "Wow, well, maybe I can help you keep him distracted." She turned and looked over att he two. "Hey boys, want some icecream? I think I saw a vendor at the end of the tunnel." She looked back over at Maji, her eyebrows lifted questionly, "My treat?"
Kale jumped up and down excitedly, "YAY! Icecream!"

"ICE CREAM!" Laial shouted before bounding over to the person who said ice cream. About a second later, his eyes widened as he came to a very important relization. "New person!" Laial exclaimed as-
-Maji grabbed about six of Laial's extended tentecles. "Laial, we don't do that. That's baad. Got it? Baaaad," Maji scolded. That was the last bad habit that needed to re-surface.
Laial flailed his free tentecles. "But...but..."

For a moment all Emer could see was tenicales, her head snapping back, her glasses falling from her face. When Maji caught her boy she relized he was just really excited about icecream and started to laugh, a nice full belly laugh. "Kale, I think we ahve found someone that likes icream more then you."
Kale rushed by Laial and Maji landing head first into Emer the sound of her glasses being broke echoing in the tunnel. Emer winced but smiled at the happiness in both boy's faces. "Come on Momma! Let's go!" He immedatlly started to tug at her.
Emer stood up, holding her hand out to Laial, "If it's alright with your Mom, of corse..."

Maji laughed lightly and let go of Laial. Sure...he just was excited about the ice cream... She could see his bad habit getting him into real trouble when he was older... Shaking all of those thoughts out of her head, she nodded. "Of course he can."
"Yay!" Laial exclaimed. He very rarely got ice cream, after all. He grabbed Maji's arm with his real arms and six tentecles, trying to drag her along as well.
Maji lurched forward from the sudden tug from Laial. "Alright, alright, I'm coming..."

Emer walked up to the vendor just outside of the tunnel, letting the kids tell him what they wanted. "Chocolate!" Kale cheered loudly, hopping up and down excitedly. Emer couldn't help but laugh at the two of them. Paying for the cups of icecream as she waited for Laial to decied.
