So a talk with another crewmate led me to believe that only you the people could help us decide this matter. So we have our old genjutsu system, and I proposed a new one. Since the captain and I won't agree we'll be posting it here for everyone to see, and we'll let you all decide. Keep in mind I realize no one specifically complained about the genjutsu system, but I made one that is slightly more complex because it involves pre-k level math (which is hard for me) and also gives genjutsu more flexibility and usefulness depending on the character as opposed to having pretty much everything be the same.

Old System =
• RPCs of equal rank are able to Kai out of the genjutsu of one another. If the genjutsu is half a rank higher [from passives] then the victim must inflict pain upon themselves to break out of it. We are not talking about a sissy scratch. Sasuke stabbed himself to rid himself of the paralysis Orochimaru cast and Shikamaru broke his finger to release the genjutsu cast by Tayuya. Techniques one rank higher require a greater pain sacrifice, and genjutsu two ranks above the victim cannot be released. Perception is the counter to genjutsu. The more perception a ninja has the easier it is to release themselves from a technique.

New System=

Explanation
All you have to do is add the numbers up that apply to you. Whomever has the bigger number would break or cast the genjutsu successfully. As far as genjutsu modifiers go, half a rank of genjutsu would give you .5 bonus to your overall for both offense and defense, which stacks on the rest.

Finally, if your defense is higher than the offense, once you realize you are in a genjutsu you can kai out of it.

Post with which one you'd perfer and why.

Ill tell you now that I perfer the new system because it makes you think about the effects having the things you have on your rpc will effect your rpc in general. The new system is ready, but as time goes and things are added it will change accordingly, likewise if it becomes something you can hack to make unfair in either way, I will fix it as necessary. SO let's hear your input whynauts.

lmao. I know that system very well from Reiko's guild with my Kurama Lycan. I liked it a lot in battle and it is very basic and understanding. I don't see why not to use the system.

I like the concept of the newer system. When I was looking over the system before, I thought perception made genjutsu kind of useless. Perception is much easier to cultivate than genjutsu bonuses, so people of the same level would almost always be able to kai out without having to either outsmart the justu or break it with pain. With this system, there is a clear level of superiority based on class instead of getting a flat +1/2 to genjutsu as your only distinguishing feature as a genjutsu user. Even with a personal trait of +1/2 to genjutsu, your genjutsu would be at 1 (bloodlines withstanding), which meant that anyone with +1/2 perception (due to the innate +1/2 given) is now on par with genjutsu users. And considering there are many ninja who know they are in a genjutsu and still can't kai out of it (regardless of the rank of the jutsu), I think the newer system does a better job at making it feel more authentic.

In order to keep the system balanced though, you may want to considered adding either a post limit on how long a genjutsu lasts, or an amount of chakra to sustain it. Otherwise someone could spend a negligible amount of chakra to trap someone pretty indefinitely (because unlike the show genjutsu users here can have far more genjutsu techniques they are proficient at), which would be broken and make the older system more balanced for every other class.

I think the new system would add clarity for current or new future members.
The only thing that might be a slight problem is actually having to sit down and read it though. lol rolleyes

Fair point. Ill probably go in and look at that for every genjutsu specifically.

I just straight up like the new system. I would try to use genjutsu with that system, but I just don't think it's possibly effective enough to try it before we switch over.

The Prophet Wei

I also don't like that I am not credited in this for providing this system in BBR, which is just modified to fit this guild. I normally don't care, but I spent a good while creating that genjutsu system and I think I would appreciate some recognition for it.

The old one is better in my opinion. It's simpler and more flexible to certain situations while the new system seems stiff and complicated.

But it's whatever to me. The only issue I have is the way in which people perfom genjutsu.

Genjutsu are simply too easy to execute and perma hit in role play. Itachi for example completely wrecked Kakashi just by looking at him. It's a problem even in the manga. It sucks when my character gets put into an illusion which is impossible to get out of due to his low resistance and it only took the enemy two sentences to get him caught.

I just want to know, why is medical mentioned here, but not in the battle systems thread? I'm confused on that. Otherwise, of the two, I prefer the new system.

Well firstly I'll say with the old or new system until things are looked at genjutsu are pretty much impossible to hit unless your opponent is either A.) an idiot, or B.) waaaaaaay too descriptive/has too high a perception.

That aside if you make a character who is completely and totally weak to genjutsu and you get caught in a genjutsu, chances are you'll be ********. It does suck if you have low resistances in RP and get hit by a genjutsu, but it also sucks to have low physical resistance and get ko'd by a low kick from a level one machop. Or to be weak to fire type attacks and be fighting an infernape. But you have to be wary of the consequences when you make a character and the new system rewards genjutsu and other chakra based classes over their weaker counterparts in regards to it while punishing the ones who aren't by giving them a legitimate scale as opposed to letting anyone auto-kai.
