Nervit fussed at the last decoration (a fetching orange drape) as she waited for her guests to arrive. From his tank, carefully tucked away into the back of the room, Pyredad glubbed at her to make sure that the tea was hot and that all the snacks were out. Nervit sounded back at him reassurances as she double checked – the tea was steaming gently in her (neatly-repaired) fanciest teapot, and cups (mismatched, various states of repair, though all very clean!) out for the previously-mentioned guests to choose as they would. Nervit’s favourite, she thought to herself as she adjusted the positioning of some of the snacks – of which she had a veritable selection of lowblood fare from deep-fried beetles to cubes of fermented moobeast milk. Nothing too expensive, but plenty of tasty things – she’d even baked her own cookies. Admittedly, her experience lay with tea, not cake, and so they were definitely not the most appetizing treat on the table.

Looking round her front room, she smiled softly to herself. The door to her respiteblock was firmly shut, a pointed disinvitation (it was also locked besides, but she didn’t expect anybody to try it). The culinary block was open-plan onto her living area anyway, and the washblock including all necessary plumbing had been shined to perfection and had a handy sign on the door in alternian saying ‘washblock’, neatly printed in Nervit’s precise if slightly too-rounded hand.

Yes, Nervit mused as she waited less-than-patiently, rocking back and forwards in her smart shiny boots, she’d prepared as best she could. Now she just guessed she had to wait for guests.

Keionx chose not to ride Beastdad today. It was Zariah, her princess, that deserved the honor of riding their shared parent. She was a little embarrassed at her failure to be the hero, but she couldn't bring herself to deny victory to her twin. And thus to herself by proxy. It ended up working out!

Keionx hadn't yet gone home with her lusus and her twin - she was too busy gawking at the city - albeit in disrepair - like a tourist. It was really, really different from her home on Busthind. Really different. She wondered what sort of adventures she could have here, what sort of intrepid quests she could go on. She knocked on the door, but was used to the weighted doors of her home and frankly her knocking was more like banging. The door shuddered and opened but a crack. Oops.

"Hello!" she called. Was she in the right place? She had no idea. All the hivestems looked the same. "Is this the place, fair princess?" she asked, turning to Zariah. Of course, she hadn't made a mistake. They really did all look the same to her.

"Kei!" Zariah started in a disapproving tone, "don't go around ruining other peoples' hives! And stop calling me that...." he hissed, trying to look at how badly she wrecked the door. Looked like she broke the lock....well with a screwdriver he could have a look at it and try to fix it. He wasn't the best with those kind of things....but being related to Kei he found himself getting far better at household chores.....anything from cooking to cleaning to minor repairs. He would certainly make for a good hive keeper.....if he didn't have much bigger aspirations. Someday.....maybe someday....

When he decided he wouldn't be able to fix the latch without tools he sighed, casting an annoyed look at Kei before knocking much more gently himself. "Um...I'm sorry about your door!" he called sheepishly, "my twin can be......a little.....zealous," he bit out, clenching his teeth into a grimace. Hopefully the hiveowner wouldn't be too angry....especially if he told her he could fix it. Ugh....he hated breaking things at other peoples' hives.....especially when he didn't know them well. It certainly put an awkward start to their attempted congratulatory party for the orange (and yellow)bloods.
