The flutter was more than a little distressed. Galahad had had some business to attend to, and she thought she would prove her growing strength on her own. What a mistake! First, she managed to get herself lost. To add to her embarrassment, she had gotten frightened by a lion and chased deeper into the woods and had fallen down a ravine where she tumbled down, injuring her wings.
She panicked, in pain and unsure where the lion was, though she suspected it was near, waiting to pounce. She could feel its hungry gaze upon her. She felt so foolish! She couldn't fly - her wing hurt too much. She was faster in her full-grown form, but it was easier to hide in her reduced flutter size. She tried to determine the best course of action, panting and tears welling up in her eyes as she looked for a way out. Her back was against a steep cliff and the lion was in the other direction. She could hear it approaching and her heart raced.

 Something was definitely afoot today. She could feel it in her bones and most of the time Mikasi would tell her to avoid trouble at all costs because well he didn't want her injured, but what if someone needed help? She was all about helping others even more so then helping herself. She knew this part of herself came from her father because only he enjoyed helping others even if they were lost wandering the woods for who knows how long. She tucked a herb in her satchel before hearing some rustling not too far away and before she even realized it, she was walking towards the sound. It wouldn't be true to say she didn't feel fear because she did, just not at much as someone else would. She was brave and learned that from her mate as well as her two daughters. She would do anything to protect them or anyone close to her.
So as she continued towards whatever it was, she could see a reddish colored mare with her back against a wall knowing that she was in danger. She didn't know what was attacking her yet, but she knew she had to act fast or something horrible was going to happen. She flicked her mane over her shoulder and stepped forward one more time seeing a mountain lion ready to pounce the other mare. This cause something to grow inside herself. She felt courage build up to a point where she burst forward at the beast catching it off guard. She kicked it in the abdomen sending it flying a few feet away knowing she hurt it with the painful cry it let out. She watched it scramble to it's feet and run off into the jungle. She didn't know if it would be back, but for right now she was pretty content.
"I think it's gone..at least for now." She said to the flutter mare walking over to her slowly and smiled. "Are you alright? Did you get injured?" She asked concerned for her health and if she was hurt, she would do everything she could to heal up the wounds.

Nita was surprised when suddenly an unfamiliar mare came out of nowhere and fended off the lion. She stood there for a few moments in stunned silence, catching her breath and feeling ashamed. She had come so far from home, had even had an unpleasant encounter with a kalona who had attacked her and Galahad. And yet she was paralyzed with fear over a lion. Was she truly nothing without her mate? She shook herself out of her thoughts and looked up at the mare who had come to her aid. "My wings..." she paused, fluttering her wings gently. They seemed to be sprained, but were only a little painful. They would easily heal. "I'm ok," she said with more confidence. "Thank you for that. I got a little lost and distracted. I need to be more careful." She cast her eyes downward shyly. "I really appreciate your help."

 Astraea smiled feeling really good that she helped this mare out. She could have gotten killed out here in the condition she was in and there were always predators about. “Your welcome and let me see your wings.” She looked at them seeing they were damaged, but it wasn’t too bad. It could easily be fixed and mended with the right amount of herb application. She dug into her little pouch pulling out some much needed herbs for the wound and for the inflammation. She crushed them with her hoof and wet dabbed a little bit on the tip of her nose. She pressed the herb on the mare’s wings seeing her flinch, but it was the only thing she could do at the moment. She didn’t want her hurt either, but she needed to make sure it wouldn’t get infected.
When she finished placing the green, what was now putty, on her wings, she smiled looking at her intently not caring about the green gunk on her nose. “You should be okay now.” She was calm and wasn’t panicked all about this. “You might need to rest for a couple days though until they heal and I wouldn’t use them it would only open the wounds up.” She nodded wondering if she was going to be okay. “If you want I can help you to a small cave so you can be out of harms way?” She didn’t know if she would find one, but it was worth a shot.

Nita watched the other mare work curiously, amazed at this skill she never knew existed. She winced as the salve was applied, but was grateful for the help. She couldn't help but smile at the other mare with gunk on her face as she talked to her. To the colorblind flutter it looked just as a dark streak against the light fur of the mare's face. Still, the flutter was amazed by this stranger already, a seemingly delicate mare with so much courage and skill.
"Where did you learn to do that?" She motioned towards her wings for emphasis. She wondered if it was something she could learn, too. Wouldn't Galahad be surprised next time they were in a scrap and she could heal him! The idea made her heart flutter with excitement. She wanted so much to impress the stallion in everything she did. Besides, she lacked the healing abilities of her mother and sister and would much prefer to be useful in this way.
"My name is Nita," she said, bowing her head in respect to the other mare. "I would be very grateful if you allowed me to stay with you a while instead of hiding out in a cave. I feel like there is so much you could teach me." Again she indicated the gunk smeared across the other mare's face.
