Aadia was more than hopeful to be on her first mission out. A fighter needed to go with her and it so happened that Rada was the one that she was assigned to.
“Can I go play in the grass or forest when we get there? How much further- GODS THIS IS EXCITING!!” She jumped about happily as they walked through the gate and in to the forest ring surrounding the pride. Pride members lurked in the forests, stopping any new comers or hunting for anyone that came upon their territory. Of course they would. It just screamed ‘streams’ and watering holes after miles long deserts.
Rada wasn’t pleased. In fact, she was bitter for all that had happened to her. “No. Mission to find more priestess and seers are the only things on our mind. No playing.” Why they would think Aadia could help? Because Rhea was a seer, and most except for one of her siblings were seers. Their bloodline was known for them and Aadia was just another that came down the line. No one knew if she was a seer yet, but they all hoped. Maybe in the bloodline they could maybe even tell who was a seer. Maybe it was the feeling they gave off. But it was now entrusted to Aadia. Now, the first time to be let out to see the world.
“How long do we have!?”
“As long as it takes to bring one back. Trust me. It’s not as grand as you might think. That’s why they sent me and you never know if it is enough.” The ‘peacemaker’ walked a fine line already, her last mission had shaken her- fighting a lioness. For her love, for her forever. But she showed violence like she hadn’t ever known before. Brute- and bloodlustful.
“How long til we get there exactly?”
“Maybe another moon or two out. She said any specie. That they’re found in any specie. It may take longer than expected but she doesn’t expect us to come back empty handed. We need something. Anything to show we at least show some progress or that we didn’t waste our time. It’s a lot easier though since its Lady Emi. You should have seen Nyoka..” Shaking her head. Those were the times that the pride thrived on killing sprees. Slowly she led Aadia in to the tunnels out in the middle of the desert. Pushing a rock in order to show the tunnel’s entrance in the ground. Many passed here, few knew where it was. A for sure way to ensure your survival out in the desert was underground. The deeper they went, the harder it was to deal with the close space. “Keep going.” Rada’s voice traveled.
After hours of walking, Aadia, started to hear a water flow. “Woah- water!” It had only been a few hours and that struck her the reason to be pushy to get to and finally rushed ahead. Abila did the same thing, Rada was an equivalent to a right hand when it came to Abila, but at the end. It was just the continuous missions that had been grouped together. They learned each other in ways no one else could understand. She knew Abila’s secrets and fears. Like being a marriage that was meaningless. Closing her eyes and sighed. Ajani wasn’t like that, Ajani was hers- and loved her entirely or that was what he claimed. Nothing like what Abila had, thankfully.
“Don’t rush- you don’t know if there are-“
“OHMYGODSIMSOSOSORRY!IDIDNT!AHHH!!”
Which gave Rada the clue to speed up and when she finally got to a more spacious room in the tunnels she saw Aadi drawn back. “Watch where your going NEWB!” A leopard growled.. He looked fierce. Probably a guard or a fighter on a mission. Either way, Rada had to show herself, pull Aadia up and gave him a nod. “Pinned the tail. A newb, forgive me.”
“Peacemaker.”
“Yes?”
“Best tell your own to watch their step.”
“She’s a royal what do you expect.”
The leopard came up to Aadia, sized her- walked around her and Rada, taking a long sniff. The only light were the fireflies that were captured and hung around.
“Priestess.”
“Yea?”
“Stay out of our way.”
Then walked right passed her. It took a few moments before the fighter disappeared.
“Well that didn’t go well.”
“Its best if you stay behind me next time.”
Looking about the spacious part of the tunnel, “We have a few options, and I think the best route is those where we can meet many all at once. Watering holes. Preferably at night, best ones could be in deserts- but part of me says forests.”
“Forests.” Without even thinking she spoke up. ’Damn!’. “Ok well don’t quote me or anything, I just think that seers would be more interested in the forest. But at the same time, could trigger more elapses. Maybe trying a place in between. Grasslands?” But really she had a hard feeling for the forests. For some reason, it just ached for her.
“Ok well we can’t get wrapped up in our thoughts here. Grasslands it is.”
When they got up through the tunnels, the caverns on the inside decorated in shine and sparkle. It was an amazing sight for someone who hadn’t left a foot out in the roguelands. “Woah… It looks beautiful…” Aadia’s voice was filled with awe and amazement whereas Rada’s disposition was blank and unforgiving. She had a mission and she would find a way to complete it no matter what. With Aadia’s help or not. She needed to get enough credits to finally ask for the transfer to either Ajani’s personal guard or something equivalent. Anything to not have the pride look down upon them. Even if she had to steal a cub from its mother to get it.
“Hey look! Its like the water is glowing!”
“Yea, its called light reflection. Light comes in, reflects off the colors in the cave in the water. You really are clueless.”
“Hey!” Aadia turned around with almost a fierceness. “This is my first time, give me a break.” Huffing. Then looking around again.
