This week starts my first week as assistant manager. It's been a long time coming, but I'm finally on the road to my long-term goal when I applied for Radioshack last year. I really should have started a few months ago, but an unfortunate series of events starting with my original store manager who recommended me for the position leaving the company set me back quite some time.

But now, I finally get to relax a bit regarding my sales and really help the store out as a whole without having to worry about upper management bumping me out of management candidateship.

So long as our store does well, we should have nothing to worry about and so far, that's exactly what we're doing. Ever since I joined the team, our sales have skyrocketed and we are currently $20,000 ahead of plan for the month. Now I just have to worry about passing on what I know to those who work under me.

Glad that's working our for you but I can't... Quite pretend to understand.
There are a few things that I like about my job. Very few, but number one might be that it's easy. It's so easy. Low-paying, few benefits, and not in the least rewarding, but the hardest part is standing there for eight hours.
I guess I'd rather be off in my head and invest myself more in a job that I was passionate about, but I can't imagine a job that would really make me want to... climb.
What I suppose I'd really like is a job where I'd be in a position to take care of animals, but I had less riding on me than a veterinarian. A vet-tech would be ideal, but I can't go back to school for that, because I'd never be able to pay it off.
But my point when I started this was congratulations. I hope that it works out for you.

The job I've got is rather easy as well. Granted, there are responsibilities that I need to take care of, but for the most part, the most difficult part about my job right now is making sure my associates take their lunch LOL.

In any case, I'm really motivated by the fact that I can do what others can't, or more often, are too lazy to do. Growing up, I've always wanted to be that one person who made it from the bottom to the top through hard work and skill rather than money and luck. So far, that's exactly what I'm ending up being and if I can actually make management in the next 2 or 3 years, I can rub it in the faces of all those people who took out student loans to head off to college only to drop out and heckled me for dropping out of high school to do what I wanted to do. Most importantly, I want to rub it in the faces of my family that I can be successful through my own hard work just as those from generations past had before "institutes of higher education" were accepted as a prerequisite to success.

That is how my grandparents got what they have today.

Not exactly magnanimous reasons, but good luck anyway, i s'pose.
