Kadryn picked herself up and dusted off her pants. The cave had been entertaining, but her blood hadn’t really gotten ponding or anything. She wanted to go rage at something… a pack of Kiandri’s would be nice. All at once, not this easy one at a time!
“Do you know where a pack of dragons lives?” She asked her companion, Toki. He cocked his head and thought.
“Hrm. There is an area the hunters have told the young to stay away from. I would say that is a good place to start.”
She thought on it for a bit before nodding.
“Sounds as good a plan as any. Lead on?”
In response Toki flared his wings and took off at a running start. He was getting old and saw no reason to strain his wings by doing a standing leap right now. Kadryn joined him quickly in the sky, her soft large feathers silent on the wind. The sun above was hot and Kadryn was glad she’d left her winter gar behind for this trip. Apparently Eowyn didn’t understand that winter meant cold! High in the sky Toki asked her, his rumbling voice easily heard of the hiss of the wind in their ears.
“Your name sounds familiar. But I know I have never met you. Have you met any Kiandri Khehora before?”
“I’ve met Grrel before. Is she part of your clan?”
“Ahh,” he said with a grin, “Grrel. Should have remembered! You are the cook yes? She wouldn’t shut up about bread and spices and stuff after she came back from Serenia a while back.”
Kadryn laughed, “She would talk only about that wouldn’t she! I found her reaction to our food quite fun so I fed her a lot. She even ha the bravado to enter my village and eat at my Aunt’s café!” Kadryn shook her head at that memory.
Toki chuckled, “Did she really?” He then sighed. “Sadly, you’ll find she’s changed since then. Our clan has been raided a lot by egg thieves so her feelings towards two-legers is… bad, to put it kindly. She tends to attack first, ask questios later now.”
Kadryn sighed sadly and stared at the passing dunes beneath them, “That is sad to hear. I liked her and consider her a friend. You think she’ll still think of me kindly?”
“Perhaps.” Toki said after a while. “After all, she got to know you before this, so maybe those kinder feelings are still there.”

Toki sniffed the air and smiled. The scent of Kiandri Dragon lingered in the air, there must be some nearby.
“Hold a moment.” He said as he paused and flapped his wings, hovering in the air. He concentrated and tried to sense where the Dragon would be. Normally he relied upon his sixth sense for closer things, but why not try to find magic in the distance? Wouldn’t hurt to try! Hmmm…. He could sense... something. It wasn’t near though and he sighed.
“Well, I can’t since magic unless it’s much closer I guess. Let me try one other thing first. There are Kiandri’s in the area and I’m trying to find them.” He said to Kadryn, giving her an explanation as to why he was pausing. She gave a nod and fluttered about above him, keeping an eye on the area beneath as well as above them. He hummed to himself, his head slowly moving from side to side as he sent out his magic in small amounts downwards, using them as small sparky feelers to find other magic. Lightning liked to jump to other lightning, so would his sparks try to jump towards a Kiandri’s magic? He grinned as it did. The sparks flickered off and pulled towards one directions.
“Found some.” He growled happily as he dove downwards to the dune’s below before skimming along them, following the pull of his small sparks.

Kadryn dove after Toki, wondering how he’d managed to find any dragons. Either he had a really good nose or he was using magic. Could you sense magic with other magic? If so, she wondered if she’d be able to learn some of that skill. It would certainly be useful!
She heard some growls on the wind and loosened her mace from its sling, readying herself to crash into the dragons. She grinned, an ambush they wouldn’t see coming! Hopefully she’d be able to pound out her frustrations on them!

Toki gathered his magic and prepared a large bolt, wanting to get off one really big spell before Kadryn got into the thick of the fighting. Once she was there, he’d have to be extra careful not to hit her. He felt his static power, and realized they were close, very close. Now that he was closer, he noticed his static searching spell actually was showing him the terrain. They crackled along the top of the dunes, and lithered along the sudden crack in the earth, letting him almost see it. He grinned. Well now, wasn’t that interesting? He would have to practice this, see what else it could do! But later, he had a fight to concentrate on! He rumbled at Kadryn;
“They’re just up ahead in a valley. Let me go in first so I don’t hit you with my magic.”
“Got it.” She said as she flared her wings and zipped upwards, gaining height to give her upcoming dive that much more power.

Toki flew into the stony ravine, gathering back the power he’d extended to find them wrapping it into the ball of lightning he was gathering inside of himself. He heard the roar of the group of Kiandri beneath him and loosed his magic. The lighting emerged from his throat with a shattering crack, its electric bolts swirling in a tight ball as it flashed downwards. It landed with a rumble of thunder, the lightning ball splashing open and sending out waves of static power, stunning the Kiandri’s with it’s sheer amount of power and sound despite their resistance to it.

Kadryn waited till the ball exploded, glad to be out of its reach, then she furled her wings close to her and dove. The wind whistled in her ears as her lips curled into a feral grin. Her blue eyes, the same color as the sky above, gleamed with blood lust. There were six Kiandri’s below her, and she relished the thought of chattering their bodies with her mace.

She flashed by Toki, felt the heat and shivering air about him and knew he was preparing another spell. She shifted her wings open slightly, redirecting her fall to hit one that was on the edge of the crackling felid of lightning. She pulled her mace out at the last second, putting all the power of her dive behind it. It hit the Dragon solidly in the chest, an explosion of scales and blood splattered across Kadryn as she was pulled to a halt by the collision. The dragon barely had time to register her presence before the impact. It died with a bloody gasp, eyes wide in shock as it stared at the small blue Orderite. Kadryn grinned and wiped a hand across her face, smearing the blood and removing the shattered scale bits. Her tongue flicked out to lick the lips clean of blood as she spun to charge at another dragon, her blood pounding in her veins, a red haze gathering at the edge of her vision.

Toki, feeling Kadryn and sensing her change in direction, made sure this last bolt hit the dragon directly under him. It was shaking out of the shock and managed to send a lashing whip of lightning towards Toki. He grinned and reached out with his own magic, engulfing it and claiming it for his own. The Dragon shrieked in rage as it felt its power being taken away and pumped its wings to go attack the khehora who’d dare to do that. Toki released the stolen power back towards its caster, but not in a whip form. No, instead he forced the lightning into a long thin blade and slashed out with it. The magic, forged into a sword of light and electricity for a short time, cut as if it was steel, slicing off the Dragon’s head. He darted to the side to dodge another bolt cast his way and flared his wings as he prepared to go tooth to claw with the other Dragon who’s launched himself into the air.

Kadryn laughed as a Dragon charged her. She ducked under its swiping claw and lashed out with her mace to break the forearm she ducked under. The dragon roared angrily and its scales sparked with static electricity. Kadryn, her face splattered with more blood from this latest hit, ran under the dragon’s stomach. She ripped her mace along the underside of the dragon, drenching her back and wings in blood. Oh dear, that’s going to take a while to clean up! She thought with a laugh as she ran out from under the screaming Dragon. Her bloody wings flared and gave her a boost into the air just in time to dodge a bolt from the last dragon on the ground. The other had flown up to join its comrade in the air. She spotted the beheaded dragon as its body crumbled to dust. Just four left, these two for me, and those two for him! She thought as she dropped down onto the bleeding dragon. Her mace landed with a sickening crunch as she smashed it down onto the head, killing it.

Toki twisted aside from the dragon’s gnashing teeth as it tried to bite him. Flapping his wings, he dashed over the head and landed on the dragons back. Racking with his claws, slashed at the muscles holding at the base of the wings. The dragon writhed beneath him, crying out and trying to get at the Khehora on its back.
Its friend tried to help, but only managed to get tangled up as the wounded one twisted about.
Toki chuckled as he felt the dragon’s muscles give and it began to fall. Pushing off, he gained altitude and turned around to launch a shattering loud thunderbolt at the two dragons below. The bolt hit on the opened wounds upon the dragons back, sending searing pain through the body and hitting the brain. It twitched one last time as its companion managed to untangle itself and charge at Toki, screaming its anger and loss.

Kadryn faced off against the last of the Kiandri on the ground, whirling her mace about on its long pole as she stalked about the dragon. She had little fear in her, she knew the Kiandri and how to fight them. Now that the others were all dead, she was left with just one to sate her bloody thirst upon. The dragon lunged at her, snapping at empty space as she side stepped quickly. She snapped the mace out, slamming it into the dragon’s shoulder before skipping back out of range. Around and around she went, toying with the dragon, shattering bone and tearing muscles with her spiked mace every time it tried to attack. Finally she landed a blow to the head, ending the game of cat and mouse.

Gathering his power about him once more, Toki coated his scales in scales of lightning. The dragon charging him threw a strong lightning bolt, following behind it. Toki merely let the lightning hit as he reached out with his mind and grabbed that magic to claim it as his own. He grinned as he felt the armor about him strengthen and crackle with the new power and heard the dragon’s squawk of outrage. Stealing other’s powers and claiming it as his own was quite entertaining for Toki! It was also something he used during lessons when a child’s power got out of control. He never used it outside of battle or lessons nor did he teach how to do it except to those he knew would not abuse the knowledge. There were some he knew who would take power from others just to increase their own…. That he would not condone and he had actually learned the hard way that not all his students would use their skills ethically. He had, about half a century ago had to kill one of his students who he had caught stealing power from others and using it for their personal gain. Now he no longer taught it unless he was absolutely certain of the other’s personality and mind; which is why he had yet to even mention it to Grrel. Not until she proved she could control her emotions.

Shaking his head to clear the memory and get back to concentrating on the battle, Toki curled his wings to drop down towards the ground and dodge the dragon’s charge. He was no longer a young and knew that his body would hurt enough already without having to take the impact of a charging dragon. If he was oh… 50 years younger, maybe! But not now; instead he took all the power in the lightning armor and threw it upwards at the Dragon’s softer underside and was rewarded with a pained cry that fizzled out as it died.

He flew down to settle next to Kadryn.
“Well, that was entertaining.”

She chuckled as she went about gathering all the fallen orbs. “It was. And there’s a good haul too!”

“Did you relieve your stress some?” He asked politely as he accepted his share of the orbs. Kadryn looked at him before grinning. The old guy was sharp!

“Yeah. I still miss him but it’s a bit more bearable now.”

Him? Toki thought, ah, she must have a mate who’s away.
“You should take up a bit more peaceful stress reliever. Killing things isn’t eh best way to soothe emotions other than anger.”

“I know, it’s just that,” Kadryn sighed. “Cooking doesn’t help too much. And my family’s elsewhere so I’ll still feel lonely. I don’t know the Tribe members too well.. so vsiting them is awkward. And hnting’s what I’ve always done.”

“Tribe?” Toki asked curiously, two-leggers had tribes too?
“Ah! The Wild Tribe; it’s a bunch of people who got sick of society so they live in tribes out in the wilderness to avoid all the expectations and laws that civilization has.”

“Hrrm… Sounds interesting. But as to other activities; maybe smithing? I’ve heard that pounding metal is good at getting anxieties away. And it is used in a productive way. Maybe sculpting? One of the Khehora in my clan always carves when he’s worried. I’m told they are rather nice looking.”

“Smithing... sounds okay I guess. My father is a smith…” Kadryn wrinkled her nose at the thought of spending all that time in a hot forge pounding o n metals. “Nah. I’d prefer to be out side and feel the wind!”

Toki chuckled, “I can understand that. Though flying is some what calming I don’t think it’d work for you too much.” He chuckled. “Hopefully you’ll find something that os a safer and more productive way someday!” He turned his head and sniffed the wind. “There’s another Kiandri coming this way, I can feel his magic approaching.” He said.
“Oh? You can sense magic? You can take this one if you want.” She offered. Toki grinned.
“I lost my eyes, but in doing so, it cleared my mind and enabled me to sense magic as well as heightened my other senses.” He gathered his power and spun it into a swirling ball and waited for the dragon to arrive.

Kadryn watched with interest, shed never seen someone manipulate magic with such easy and skill. Or so naturally! Lightning had always seemed so wild and untamable to her, but here Toki was bending it to his will like it was silk and not sheer power.

She squinted as he loosed it and it swerved unerringly towards the shadow walking over the sands towards them.
“There, one more orb for us!” Toki said in a pleased tone as Kadryn went to go grab the newest orbs.

"Do you want my share?" Kadryn asked, "I have no need for them though I've heard that Khehora need orbs for something?"
Toki smiled, pleased at her offer. "Well, I certainly won't turn them away! They are needed for the ritual that one must do to become a Khehorian."
"Oh! That's why! I wondered."
