Xander had never even been on a date before, but he'd signed up for the valentines day charity auction and a date he got. He felt lucky that Orah, who was already his friend bid on him and won. It made the whole ordeal feel a lot more relaxed. Well that was except for his sister, who insisted he still needed to look tip top, but not over the top, and had insisted on enlisting Phina to help find him something suitable to wear. How much fun that had been ... not, but it had resulted in something nice that he found comfortable and suitable to wear.
So now he sat in the limo he had rented wearing a nice button down, nice vest in grey and charcoal grey with charcoal grey slacks, before the pair would head off to the Whispers Trees Cafe. His sister words rang in his ears, "remember to talk Xander." He frowned slightly having never been the best with words, but not wanting to bore his friend.
Arriving at the her house, he got out of the limo and headed up with a bouquet of flowers, in which a few orchids we're nestled among other flowers, in hand and rang the doorbell.

The person who opened the door was not someone Xander had met before... a taller man with curling brown hair and absent-minded green eyes, a pair of round glasses perched on his nose. A little portly, his features still held some of charisma he had as a younger man, just softened with age and loss. A knowing smile crossed his face as he took in the red head at the door with the flowers, rubbing his hands on his slacks before he offered his hand.
"You must be Xander? I'm Arthur Gowan, Art if you like. I'm Orah's Da." Ireland was heavy in his voice, even after all his years in the states and his handshake was firm as he welcomed the other man into the flower shop. "Come on upstairs, Orah is just about finished getting ready, I think. Probably changed her clothes five times by now, you know how girls are. You two should get going before she decides she has to change again." There was a laugh in his voice as he said it, turning to lead the way to the stairs and up to the family apartment.
Once there, Xander was greeted with a look at where his young friend lived and worked, a clean, homey place with furniture that was lovingly used, pictures of family all over the walls, and bright pops of color from flowers in vases. The only dark part of the place, actually, was the teen boy slouched on the couch, a gameboy in his hands. He seemed to be playing, but his green eyes were on the door as the pair came in, a scowl on his face.
"That's my son, Matthew." Art said, waving a hand towards the indignant young man. "I'll go get that girl." The portly man disappeared up the second set of stairs to where one would assume the bedrooms were, his feet loud on the steps. A much softer set of feet came back down and the person who emerged from the stairwell was Orah, dressed for the date with Xander. Her dress was a soft pink, contrasting nicely with her olive skin and her hair was up in a messy pony tail, her curls tumbling down the back of her neck. She smiled as she caught sight of her friend, a blush rising on her cheeks and she shifted nervously as she came towards him.
"Hi Xander. Thanks for coming! I'm ready to go when you are." She said softly as she straightened the cream drape around her bare shoulders, shuffling one of her matching heeled shoes. Orah found herself hoping he liked how she looked... and glad that she'd dressed up a bit, since he looked so nice himself.Kaori_luv sorry for the quote, had to edit something. xD

Xander took the offered hand and gave a firm shake, but not to firm. "It's nice to me you. Mr. Gowan, er Art," he said before following Art up the stairs to the apartment. Reaching the apartment he had to feel more relaxed, it was much more homey than his own home. He eyes landed briefly on Matthew when Art introduced him and gave the boy a nod and a soft hi before turning away waiting for Orah to come down.
He smiled when she came down, she looked pretty and he wondered briefly if he should say that when she greeted him. "Hello Orah. I got these for you," he said handing her the flowers, "and I'm ready to go now if that okay. The limo is waiting downstairs to take us to the restaurant."
Xander offered his arm, ever the gentleman, taught impeccable manners by his mother, which he tried his best to always use. "You look very lovely," he said softly, "that's a very nice dress."

Orah's face brightened as she took the offered flowers, unabashedly delighted in the gift. Sure, she worked with them every day, but it wasn't the same as getting them as a gift, a thoughtful gesture from someone you cared about. The Orchids tucked into the arrangement made her smile gently as she touched one of their soft petals, knowing they meant more to both her and Xander than anyone else would guess. It was almost like a secret code they shared.
"Here, let me set these up." She said as she lightly touched his sleeve before turning for the kitchen. A glase vase made an appearance from under the sink and was filled with water before Orah tucked the bouquet into it and straightened the fragile stems. Warmed by the pretty image they made, she set the vase on the table before she moved to the door and tucked her hand into Xander's elbow, waving to her father and brother.
The young woman tugged her date down the stairs before the men her life could say something awkward or embarrassing. She didn't need any reminders that this was the first date she'd ever been on or the potential teasing.
"Thank you." She said softly, responding to his compliment. "You look really good too! That outfit is really classy and smart... it works really well with your hair and skin tone." Okay, so maybe that wasn't really something guys cared about, but she wasn't about to mention how wide the vest made his shoulders look, or how neatly it fit his waist. This night was going to be hard enough with the butterflies flapping around inside of her without letting him know they were there.
At least the limo proved to be a nice distraction, the teen gathering up her skirt and shawl so she didn't trip over it as she climbed inside, letting the driver deal with the door behind them.

Orah's happiness over the flowers definitely made him feel a bit more confident that he'd actually done something right and without prompting, so that was an added bonus. He watched as she put them in water and put them on the table before he found himself being tugged off down the stairs.
He gave a small chuckle at, "thank you. I am hopeless at all things fashion or so says everyone. This outfit is the fruits of Lily and her boss Phina's help. It's nice to know it doesn't clash. I would hope they wouldn't do that me."
At the limo the door was opened for them and Xander climbed in after Orah getting settled into seat before looking to her. "Here we go, right? Have you ever been to Whispering Trees Cafe? I really like it, even if it basically a very fancy tree house in a really enormous tree. They have really good food and great service and the best black bottom cupcakes."Bluefire Dragonz Feel free to move them to the restaurant.

Orah straightened her wrap around her shoulders as she leaned back into the comfortable seat, her ankles crossed almost daintily. She felt... Strange to be in such nice clothes. Her shoes felt so light and delicate... His question was a welcome distraction over worrying about her clothes and she chuckled softly.
"I have never been there before... Though, surprisingly, I know what it's like to be in a big tree." Orah laughed softly as she glanced at the driver to be sure he wasn't listening in.
"On Ida, all the buildings are, or were, living trees. I guess they're all dead and petrified now, but they were probably beautiful once." This place would probably be a far cry from those towers, but it was nice to relate the two, and amusing that things panned out that way.
All through the ride to the restaurant, Orah kept a discreet distance between her knees and Xander's. Not that it was hard in the big limo, but... With this being the first date she'd ever been on, her body was buzzing with nerves and excitement. She would lave loved to lean on his shoulder, but that was the romantic in her talking.
When the limo finally stopped, Orah waited for Xander to lead the way out, carefully gathering her dress so she wouldn't trip over it or something silly as she climbed out. In the cool night air, the young woman took a deep, clearing breath, unable to stop the giddy smile on her face.

Xander sat listening to Orah talk about Ida, the window between the driver and them closed, so he knew the conversation would remain private. He didn't feel uncomfortable talking about the night life, the life both lived when the sun went down.
"Sounds like Maia, to be honest. She says their are lots of trees that sing when you touch them. There is a castle in the Mt. Everest of trees. I haven't seen it, but sounds beautiful. Ida sounds wonderful too. Do you think I could go there sometime? I know I can take someone to my wonder. I took Acrucis not to long ago. Could you take someone to Ida?"
Xander was curious about this, its was something his sister never mentioned. He smiled relaxing in his sea and giving Orah a smile. It was all to soon that they reached the restuarant, climbing out, Orah behind him, he offered his arm and looked to the resturant, built up and around a tree. There are were stairs up to a ramp that lead into the resturant. Xander offered his arm to Orah.
"Shall we?"

A bit of pink crept up into Orah's cheeks as Xander offered his arm, but she took it lightly, curling her fingers around the crook of his elbow. It felt so strange to be on someone's arm... even stranger the things that ran through your head at a time like this. It was like her senses were heightened, or maybe she was just paying more attention than normal. His shirt was so soft under her finger tips, but she could feel the curve of his arm too, the way the muscle stretched and contracted as he moved, and heat his body threw off naturally.
Clutching her wrap closer around her shoulders, Orah let him draw her towards and into the restaurant, a smile curling on her lips.
"I would really like to take you to Ida." She said softly. "I've taken a couple of people there before... Persephone, the first time, and Aventine later. I actually like sharing it, it feels good to.. I dunno, bring some life into it. The only things that live there are plants."

"I'm glad," he said softly, "it will be nice to visit another world. You wouldn't believe its actually warm on my wonder despite it being on Pluto." He gave a small chuckle and let the powered life chatter drop off.
Xander lead the way up to the restaurant giving his name for the reservation. The pair was lead to their table and offered menu's asked for drinks before the waiter headed off and Xander offered up suggestions of things he liked there and tried his best to converse and not clam up.
The waiter came back, the food was ordered and more conversation was had and it couldn't have been better Xander's opinion. He found himself wondering why he hadn't done this before, but when he really though on it, if it was one of the nurses from the hospital and not Orah he'd probably very uncomfortable.
Eventually the waiter brought their bill and Xander quickly paid before giving Orah a smile. "Having a good time?"

Dinner had edged towards awkward, at least on Orah's end, but she'd firmly stamped on that feeling and reminded herself that they were friends. They were here to have fun and enjoy each other's company, it was simple as that. It didn't have to be awkward or complicated unless she made it that way. Once she made up her mind, the dinner went easily.
Obviously, Xander knew how to talk to her, what to do, and it went a long ways towards making the night go smoothly. The food was good, the company wonderful, and by the time they left the restaurant, Orah was relaxed and happy, really enjoying the night. As he paid the bill, she smiled back at him, folding her napkin next to her plate.
"I'm having a wonderful time!" The young woman said as she stood, waiting for him before they headed together towards the door. "Was there something else you had planned for tonight?"
It wasn't like the dinner wasn't enough... but now that it was over, she didn't really want to go home yet. This was nice... it was exactly what a date should be like, or what the popular opinion of one was. And, now no matter how things turned out, she'd always be able to say that she had had one perfect date. With the second life they both lived, the future was never certain.

Xander walked relaxed out of the restaurant with Orah, giving her a bright smile when she admitted to having a good time. "That's really good to hear because in all honesty I've never been on a date before," she said hoping Orah wouldn't laugh and feeling she wouldn't.
"Next I had planned a carriage ride through the park, but its getting dark and I'm sure you know how dangerous the park can be the darker it get. We can do something else if you like, or see if the carriage can not go through the park. Your choice."
He headed to the limo that awaited them outside, driver getting out to open the door for them. Xander motioned for Orah to get in first ever the gentleman.

A ride through the park... Orah had a tendency to agree that it might not be the best thing on a date. Getting attacked would be problematic, and definitely not fun. But she really didn't want to go home either, so... what could they do? Actually stopping to think about it brought out an idea and Orah smile widely as she bounced to Xander's side and tugged on his arm so he'd bend down closer.
"I want to show you someplace special, ok? But we can't take the limo... maybe you can have him come back a bit later? We're going to, ah... walk there." She said, putting emphasis on 'special' and 'walk'. Hopefully that would clue him into it being something a civilian didn't really need to know about.
Oh, this was exciting... she had only taken a handful of people to Ida before. It would be a treat to take Xander there, and hopefully it would be a nice sort of reward for him... he'd saved her life, it would only be fair to see part of what it was he had saved. If they could send the limo away for a bit, she could transform and they'd be there in moments.

Xander gave Orah a slightly confused look at first when she tugged on his arm, but he went with the tug and listened to Orah. He didn't understand at first, but Orah said she hadn't been to the restaurant and as their wasn't really anything else around, there wasn't much to explore.
He looked a little puzzled for a moment, but nodded and straightened up before handing the driver some money and telling him to get some dinner, that they were going to go take a walk and they would be back soon. The driver seemed to have no issues with this and decided to head up into the restaurant himself.
Xander turned to Orah and gave a soft smile, "okay, now that he is gone, shall we go? If you want to power up? That is what you want to do right," he asked quickly not wanting to have misinterpreted. Social cues weren't exactly his thing, outside of when something was wrong with someone. That he could spot easily enough. "We'll have to get a least a little bit away from the restaurant. One can never be to careful."Bluefire Dragonz ~Fin ... going to use this post to start the space rp and quote you <3
