Personality:
Fearless: Kaimi doesn't seem to be afraid of anything. Or rather, if she is she hides it extremely well behind a curtain of smiling bravado. She will try anything regardless of how reckless or dangerous it might be, and she always accepts a challenge no matter how ludicrous it may seem.

Brash: This young woman is not afraid to speak her opinion, regardless of whether or not her opinion is being sought. She always means well, and this often gets her out of potential trouble. She has no shame, and she is brash in her life choices as well as her opinions. Kaimi has had several lovers, though she never seems interested in staying with anyone for too long. If she is interested in someone, she's not shy about letting them know it, in no uncertain terms.

Creative: Kaimi has a creative spirit. She loves to dance, sing, and play the pipes. She also crafts a lot of her own clothing when she can get away with it. But her creativity also shows itself in more subtle ways. For example, she has a knack with improvising when it comes to music. She seems to be able to compose songs and melodies on the fly, and she comes up with some really unique harmonies. She always goes with the flow and is infinitely adaptable and flexible.

Credulous: Kaimi is a woman who believes in the good of all people. She doesn't understand prejudice and despite knowing better, she just can't stop the belief that good will always, always triumph. That rightness and justice will find their way in this world. These beliefs make her incredibly trusting of people, which leaves her vulnerable to being taken advantage of. She has had to learn to check herself before blindly following any random stranger, but she will never be able to fully shake her deep-seated and innocent beliefs. When she is played for a fool, betrayed, or hurt, she takes it harder than most.

Frivolous: Kaimi likes pretty things. She likes things that shine. She likes to look pretty, she likes to dance, she likes to indulge in whatever simple pleasures are available to her, whether it be jewelry, food, or more carnal pursuits. This constant pursuit of pleasure, enjoyment, and happiness results in the fact that Kaimi often doesn't put a lot of thought into more serious things. So she can come across as flighty, frivolous, and shallow which means that people are often reluctant to trust her with things that are important or that require a lot of responsibilities. Once a person has had the opportunity to see past the surface vanity and hedonism, they will usually realize that Kaimi can indeed be trusted, though she might need the occasional poking and prodding.

Unpredictable: One day she might be singing, the next she might be concentrating on something so hard she doesn't even notice you. One day you might be her lover, the next day she might be telling you that it's time for her to move on, that your time together has been beautiful, and she wishes you the best. It's hard to gauge Kaimi on any given day, and she might just surprise you if you approach her with any kind of expectation. The truth is, she rather likes throwing people off guard and she sometimes alters her behavior just to mess around with you. Other times she is just generally flitting from one mood or activity to the next, like a little hummingbird.

The first thing most people notice about Kaimi is that she is vivacious and full of life. She always seems to be smiling, singing, dancing and just celebrating in general. It is rare that you will ever see her upset because things tend to roll off of her like water off a duck's back. This makes her incredibly easy to get along with, and therefore most people enjoy her company. She has a knack for making people smile, and her light shines brightly enough to warm anyone who is close enough to receive her attention.

Kaimi can come across as incredibly shallow, however. Because of her slight stature, her love of trinkets and jewelry, and her fairly short-seeming attention span, people often form opinions and relationships with her based solely on these outer layers. She's sweet, she's funny, but since she jumps around from romance to romance and project to project and rarely seems to take anything seriously, she can come across as incredibly superficial or dim.

The truth is, she doesn't believe that there is much in the world worth getting your panties in a twist over, and this kind of easygoing mindset can be fairly infuriating to people who value hard work, discipline and self control. Being a fairly relaxed and cavalier person does not, however, mean that she is soft or weak. Hidden beneath the sweetness and the innocence and the hedonistic lifestyle is a girl with a spine made of pure steel. There is no challenge that she will not face down, and when she finds something that she decides is worth fighting for (though rare), there is no power on Pern that will make her give up the fight. There is a strong vein of stubborn persistence that occasionally shows itself.

Kaimi is pretty much an open book. If there is something you want to know about her, she will most likely tell you. After all, she doesn't really have anything to hide, does she? If it's a lesson she has learned or a funny anecdote, she'll pass it along with a smile. But she always glosses over any personal pain or betrayal she might have experienced, which gives the impression that she has lived a truly charmed life, untouched by tragedy or unhappiness.

Physical Description:
Kaimi is a slight, short woman with hips that were made for dancing. Her skin is darkly tanned and her hair is long, straight, and the blue-black of a raven's wing. She prefers to go barefoot and enjoys wearing fresh flowers around her neck and in her hair. Kaimi loves dressing in bright, cheerful colors and tends to wear dresses that have a good flow. Kaimi loves jewelry, though her tastes run towards the larger, gaudier pieces and she absolutely adores stones of every shade of blue.

History:
Kaimi was born into a small cothold, one of those that are unimpressive and barely worth noticing to those who don't live there. Her father was carpenter and her mother a seamstress and her paternal grandmother, who also lived with them, was a healer. Despite their best efforts, Kaimi showed little interest in sewing or healing, and absolutely no interest in carpentry. In fact, she seemed content to spend her life doing as she pleased without any concern for the future. Kaimi's mother knew her flighty daughter would need some sort of skills to survive, and she was loathe to watch this gentle free-spirit be trapped in a tiny cothold for the rest of her life.

Having always had a penchant for singing and dancing, Kaimi was sent to the Harper Hall when she was eleven, and spent the next eight years learning to use her voice and play a variety of instruments. The drums and the pipes were able to hold her attention, and she therefore focused her studies there, along with composition and singing. Kaimi blossomed during her time as an apprentice, finding a new understanding of herself. Her tendency to do what she wanted for the sake of doing what she wanted shifted to a truly hedonistic viewpoint, which she embraced despite (or possibly as a result of) the strict training she was receiving at the Hall. By the time she was promoted, she was a confident and strong-willed woman.

When she was nineteen, she was promoted from apprentice to journeyman and was assigned to be one of the teachers for the children at Ista Weyr. She was excited at the prospect of living at Ista for a time and having the opportunity to explore the biggest and most diverse place she had ever lived.

Being a warm and friendly person, Kaimi quickly made friends of all sorts and had a rash of brief but sweet love affairs. At one point, she was involved with a bluerider whose dragon decided that Kaimi would make an acceptable candidate. It had never been anything that she had actually considered for herself, but her interest was piqued and, being one who never backed down from a challenge, she decided that she might as well take candidate classes between her own teaching responsibilities and give Standing a shot.

Kaimi has been at Ista for just under a year, and the upcoming clutch is her first opportunity to Stand.
