A Wandering Esper

Beloved Stargazer

"Now, now, all in a row now."

It was about time to take his day's worth of borrowed whelp collection outside. Not that there was much difference in between his rooms and the outside, but the little terrors would be free to be a little rougher here in the garden. And they were likely to meet and see all sort of people, which would certainly give them something to chatter about.

One little blue whelp, however, didn't seem to like that idea. She ventured away from the pack while Ti Lung's attention was elsewhere, seeking out the unknown.

Kyrie was wandering through the gardens, basking in the sun a little. Its warmth felt good on her dark skin and even warmed her feathers a bit. She really liked being outside, especially recently. While she had learned how to navigate on her new feet, she found the smooth stone floors a little trying at times. Sometimes she envied her feathered friends their balance as they hopped about as they pleased. It was while she was watching them do just that, that her sister's suggestion to speak with their Uncle Xun had popped into her mind. Footwear aside, she thought it would be nice to see him again. It had truly felt like an eternity since they had last seen each other. She wondered what he would say about her new appearance. Her vanity hoped he would approve.

It was such thoughts that distracted her so that she very nearly tripped over something small. Looking down, she blinked at the little blue creature and then quickly crouched down to it.

"I'm sorry!" she told the little thing with her hands outstretched to it. "I didn't see you there. Are you alright?" she cooed gently to it.

The blue whelp screeched as it was nearly run over, eying the goddess as if to say 'well, watch where you're going !' before sniffing at her hands. Either curiosity replaced annoyance quickly, or the little one wasn't as bothered as she pretended, because she stepped in those outstretched hands with a few little peeps.

By now, Xun Jiang was noticing he had lost a whelp, and he knew exactly which one it happened to be. "Kelagosa !" His tone was bordering the dreaded Father Tone. He really needed to put a bell on her, or something... She was about as bad as Rei's boys were.

Kyrie's eyes widened with excitement as the little beast first sniffed her hands and then decided to climb into them. Bringing her carefully up against her chest, she gently scratched her under her chin.
"You are certainly very pretty," she cooed softly to her then jumped a little at the stern tone that bellowed. She recognized Xun's voice and she gave the little one a bit of a smirk. That was the same voice she had heard her parents use countless times towards her and her siblings. It seemed someone was up to no good.

Rising carefully to her feet, she continued to cradle the little whelp against her and she followed the sound of the bellow. Seeing the Water Dragon, she fluffed her feathers a bit and looked down to her treasure.

"Is this who you are looking for Uncle Xun?"

It was a familiar voice that made him turn around, even if the form that spoke was a lot bigger than he remembered it being. Well, well !

"Yes, that would be the little escape artist." Indeed. There were a few more of the little dragons with him, in shades of red, blue, green, and darker purples and blues. Now that he knew exactly where the little troublemaker went - and that she had fetched him one of his nieces, to boot - Ti Lung was a great deal less bothered. "She's the adventurous one out of the ones I am babysitting today. Thank you for finding her, Kyrie. Now I don't have to worry she will get lost or hurt."

As for Kelagosa, she had answered the crow's question with a little crooning noise, then proceeded to chew on one of those chest feathers.

Kyrie lifted her head proudly as he praised her for finding the little whelp and bringing her back to where she belonged. She was really glad she could help, even if it had been completely coincidental. Looking to the others he had in his charge, she felt excitement run through her. She loved finding new creatures to learn about. The world was full of them.

"You're very welcome Uncle Xun. I'm glad I found her before anything happened to her,"
she smiled and bowed her head politely to him, then blinked when she felt the tug on one of her feathers. Looking down at her charge, she inwardly smirked and gently scratched the little dragon just behind her eye ridges. "Who are you babysitting for?" she queried. "Would you like some help?

The whelps were indeed very curious, and the braver ones were already more or less mobbing Kyrie, curious as to just what this had to be. A few shyer one where hiding near Xun, with one particular green trying to wriggle his way into the Dragon King's impressive mane. The rest were peeping up a storm, as if asking the explorers just who and what Kyrie was.

"I would certainly appreciate the help, if you have nothing more pressing to do ?" Clearly a young lady had to be quite busy. To be honest, Kyrie would probably have problems making an hasty exit for a long as she stayed a source of wonders for the little ones.

"They are little baby dragons from Azeroth. They're taken care off by a few other dragons, but there is an awful lot of them, so I take a few on adventures every other day, when I can" He chuckled.

Kyrie chuckled at the Dragon King's suggestion that she might have more pressing matters to attend to and she sank down to her knees amongst the flock of eager dragonettes. Shifting her first friend carefully to the crook of one elbow, she reached out and began to greet each and every one. She knew this was important. Her crows liked to be recognized individually and she did not think many creatures were different in that regard.

"No. I have nothing pressing to do. I was actually coming to find you. It has been so long since we saw each other and I had a small question to ask," she admitted and looked up at him. Looking back down at the small flock at his explanation, she nodded in understanding and continued to greet them all.

"You are very kind Uncle Xun," she smiled warmly and looked up at him.

Xun laughed merrily. "It is a good thing for all of us." Compared to everything else he was doing on Azeroth, this was downtime and relaxation for him. It made him stop and pause, and sometimes, when he needed to step back and calm down, taking care of these little wonders did just the trick.

Things were not going to change overnight, and there was still a lot of friction in between the two factions.

The little whelps certainly loved the attention, and now that she was deemed safe, the others were starting to come over as well, each demanding attention. The Crow certainly would have her hands full !

"Oh ? And what were you pondering ?"

Kyrie laughed happily as the others grew bold and joined their kin in greeting her. Taking her time in giving them each some attention, she glanced up at the dragon king's question.
"It's kind of a silly thing, but Caelia suggested you might be able to help me. See... when I grew, my feet," she paused and shifted a little to carefully lift one of her feet amongst the whelps so he could see. "They changed and I've been having a little bit of trouble getting used to them. I do alright in the gardens and anything textured, but the stone floors in my home... they're very slippery," she smirked a little and settled back to kneeling on her knees as the braver beasts began to climb on her a bit.

Oh, well, yes. He had not exactly looked at her feet, so the talons had been overlooked until now.

"That isn't silly at all, dear." He certainly knew how problematic this could be ! He had gone though the same thing, after all. "Hn... What I find helps a bit is if you try to group up your toes and try to make things as flat as possible." Claws did complicate matters on this aspect. "Though my center of gravity is different... Hopefully that helps you a bit."

The floors could certainly be roughened up a bit for her, but then it would not have helped Kyrie navigate around surfaces that cannot be changed. "Just don't do as I had to and try to shove them in shoes." He snorted. "It is quite unpleasant."

Kyrie smiled as he said her question was not silly. It had seemed sillier to her the more she had thought about it on her way over to see him about it. Shifting at his advice, she moved to sit on her backside and she extended one of her legs into a whelp free zone. Practicing what he had suggested, she nodded to herself. That could certainly work. Sometimes she really envied her crows their tails. Those seemed to help them immensely.
"I will definitely try it out," she mused then looked up at his warning. A look of displeasure slipped across her features and she shook her feathered head. The whole concept of shoes seemed awful to her. She liked to feel the earth beneath her feet.

"I can imagine," she smirked and glanced over the curious beasts as some of them began to find other aspects of the garden to explore.

"What is Azeroth like Uncle Xun?"
she asked and looked up at him with open curiosity in her blue eyes.

No, wearing shoes was not something he would do again unless he had no choice. Unfortunately, at times, blending in the best one can could not be avoided.

"Azeroth is..." Oh, dear. "Bluntly put, a mess. But hopefully that mess will be mostly fixed soon enough."

One could, at least, hope. Time would eventually do it's trick, but things had to be rebuilt before that.

Kyrie smirked slightly at his reply and she let Kelagosa loose from her arms in case if the little blue whelp wanted to join the others in their explorations. It was a little difficult for her to understand what he meant by it being a mess within her realm of relative harmony. Most messes she had encountered had been minor and usually the cause of herself and her siblings.
"Why are you interested in helping them?" she asked. After her father's speech about good and bad beings, it seemed like a good question to ask. She was curious about the beings he was so keen to help in any way he obviously could.

"I wanted to help them because I knew things were really bad there. My host came from that world, and it only got worse in the time she was away from it. There was a never-ending circle of war, and it had to be broken, otherwise everything would have been destroyed."

Kelagosa peeped a bit when she was let down, but then went to run after her playmates.

"I also figured out that there was a temple of mine there. And my son was here, too, though I didn't know that before we found him."

There was another lesson for Kyrie there. People, even well-meaning one, where rarely ever completely selfless in their intentions.
