Sherry had gotten up early. The promise of a date for Valentine's Day had her heart in a flutter. Which was silly because she'd never really been much for the romantic side of February 14th. Even last year, when she'd been trying to figure out what she wanted to do about Jake... But this year, they were dating and he had offered a date. He didn't do dates, his form of romantic was spontaneous and really Sherry was far too excited about this.

Though she would have been fine staying in all day, too.



"I know." Sherry's weapon had been abundantly clear about how she felt, even if she had backed off in some respects. "And thank you for giving him a chance."



Sherry would have hugged the lindwyrm if she could. But she couldn't, so she sent her happy thoughts while she set about changing her skirt again. Not the black one. The brown one with the beige lace trim would go with the cream sweater much, much better. What had she been thinking?

She was just about to give herself the once over in the mirror again when she heard the knock on her door. The pile of clothes that had grown beside her was picked up and dumped in the closet, and Sherry went to open the door.

"Morning!" She didn't sound too happy, did she?

Sherry smiled and felt her face grow a tiny bit warm. "Thanks. Come in, for a minute," she said, reaching out to grab him and pull him into the room. "I still need to put my shoes on." And there was no way she was telling him she'd been up for hours.

Once they were both safely inside, Sherry closed the door and proceeded to put said shoes on. "Thank you, for this." Even if they weren't gone yet, the thought of it made her very happy. "But you know we don't have to do anything fancy, or anything."

A smile was flashed in his direction as she grabbed her small purse. Which felt odd, since she usually went without one. There. Clothes, shoes, purse... all ready to go. "Shall we? Oh, wait!" She was indeed not ready. Marching back up to Jake, Sherry pulled him in so that she might kiss him. She considered it to be a very loving kiss, at least that's what she'd been going for. Even if she was trying not to be too touchy and emotional, it was a particular day and they were going on a date.

"Okay. Now we can leave."

"Uh." Sherry's face wore the standard 'I have no idea' look for a moment, while she paused long enough to make sure her door was nice and closed again. Jake's words had indicated he was in charge of this excursion, and if she hadn't been so twitterpated by the idea she might have thought about having a plan of her own.



"Um," she began again as they headed down the corridor. "You did mention waffles." He couldn't go wrong with Sherry and waffles.

"Um," more looks of thinking, "we could..." There were really too many choices.



Something in Armagnac's tone made Sherry blush. "Well," she started, turning her attentions to Jake, "um, we could find a nice garden to walk around in until dinner?" She felt silly saying it. It was mundane and quiet and boring, but she liked the thought of it anyway. "And I took 24hrs of leave, so we could maybe see about taking in some night sights?" She meant cityscapes with light and things, but wasn't sure how word it right then, because she was too busy trying to not suggest other things like hotel rooms. She blamed Armagnac.

"Is there anywhere you like to go?"

She nodded.
If asked, she's say a movie had crossed her mind, but she remembered how the last one had gone, same with shopping, and well. She wasn't sure what other couple type things it would be appropriate to suggest. Walking around a garden seemed like the best option, and it would certainly be better than watching people train or going to the Haunted House.

An eyebrow was raised at his suggestion. She wasn't sure she'd ever had Belgian waffles...from Belgium. And other than waffles and chocolate...she... Okay. She knew nothing about Belgium. Except that it was in Europe. Europe was supposed to be nice. "We could, if you want. I... I don't know if waffles in Belgium are like waffles I've had before, but we could find out."

It would likely be fun, wouldn't it?

She was excited by the prospect of going somewhere she'd never been before. It would be exciting and adventurous and- A thought crossed her mind.

"We should be okay language wise, right? If we stay to a main city?" They were just going to get food and wander around a bit, weren't they? That should be more than fine. Heck, it all made it more exciting somehow. Sherry wrapped herself around Jake's arm as they neared the Lighthouse, too excited to worry about anything. "This should be fun."

Sherry laughed and hugged him a little more. They'd be fine, she was sure, they could hit a tourist area and not look out of place at all. Which was why she spent a few minutes chatting with the techs at the lighthouse. Paperwork had already been done, but a few moments to double check maps and portal locations never hurt.

And thus, less than an hour later Sherry and Jake were being shown to a cozy little table in a cozy little cafe (that seemed to cater to desserts and coffee) on what was obviously a main tourist street. Sherry flashed a smile at the waiter as he left them to look over the menu. Then she glanced out the window again, the afternoon sun making the street wonderfully bright outside. "I can't believe we're in Belgium. This is amazing." She sounded nothing short of awed.

"Now to decide what to eat," she grinned at Jake as she flipped open the menu. It was in at least three languages and had pictures. Good. There were pictures of waffles, and of things called waffles but Sherry didn't quite recognize as a 'normal' waffle, as well as cakes, parfaits, little bits of ice cream, and one or two sandwiches to cater to a more lunch-style occasion. Her stomach grumbled at the thought of a nice little club sandwich. But she had come here for waffles. And the touristy cafe being what it was..she could get those. Not with strawberry jam, but there was one that came topped with strawberries. Hmm.

"Do you see anything you like?"
