IC
The sun had already long since disappeared under the horizon, tucking itself in for the night, along with the rest of Jauhar's inhabitants, who were also now soundly asleep in their beds, save for the noisy sounds of animals outside in the forest, their day had just started.
The moon was high overhead and over half the night had already passed when it became frighteningly clear that something was amiss. There was a heavy brightness within the new Home Tree and smoke coming up from all areas. It was on fire. The flames were already licking high into the boughs and it was clear that there was no saving it.
But there were people still inside. Ilyra and Elder Kishku were still inside. But only one could be saved.
Quest Tasks ||. The new home tree is on fire. ||. The quest should force Briella into making a decision about who to save from the tree. She can only save one. ||. The quest should include Briella's reactions and feelings to the fire. ||. After everything is finished and Briella has made her (probably) heart wrenching decision, she will find that this was only a dream.

Part One She wasn't a little girl, but at the same time Briella made sure to tuck in Ilyra every night. It wasn't so much as a tucking in, as the two of them talked about their day a little before going to sleep. To Briella this was important, as Ilyra got older she spent more and more time away from home. It made Briella wish for days long past where Ilyra couldn't be taken from Briella's side. Now she went on adventures of her own away from home for days at a time, leaving Briella a worried mother. But she was about Ilyra's age when she left home with Elder Kishku and the other sisters that she had previously lived with.
"I'm sorry to here that Tahigwa has left without saying good bye. You do not know her reasoning, so do not blame her all that much. For all you know she will be back in the morning waiting to go on some kind of adventure with you." Briella said as she played with Ilyra's hair. She heard her daughter grumble a response and smile. She was still so young, and it was times like this that her temperament showed that. Briella understood that she was hurt, but she was pretty sure that Ilyra herself didn't understand that she was hurt and not mad. Briella had been watching Tahigwa and Ilyra for some time now and she could see what was happening, even if the two girls couldn't see it themselves. It was cute, and Briella was curious to see if the girls would end up together or never get past the stage of being best friends. She had met many sisters who never moved past being best friends, but than there were sisters like her mothers that moved past it to something better. Only time wold tell.
"For now just rest your mind, body and soul. Pray that mother Aisha will give you the answers you are looking for. Sweet dream my not so little one." Briella said lovingly before kissing Ilyra on the forehead and leaving her daughter's room. Now that her nightly ritual was done she would be able to go to sleep herself.
Making her way to her room Amadi joined her at the doorway and quickly moved to where his own little bed was. Over the years he had become less of a trickster, but over all he was still the mischievous sprite that she had taken in. "Goodnight to you as well Tricky one." she said with a laugh and a shake of her head as she moved towards her bed. It had been a long day, and she was more tired than usual. Hopefully the night would reward her with the rest and relaxation that she so desperately craved, tomorrow was a new day and hopefully it would be one that was better than the one before it. That was the last thing she remembered before closing her eyes and getting anything other than a restful nights rest.

Part Two "Stop Amadi. Amadi I'm trying to sleep leave me alone, stop pulling on my hair..." Briella growled as she tried to swipe her sprite away and roll over to fall back asleep. He was annoying sometimes, sure, but he had never bothered her at night like this before that she could remember. No she could not remember a time when he had tried to bug her when she was sleeping, this was not okay and she would have to punish him if he kept this up. "AMADI I SAID STOP IT!" she finally screamed at her sprite as she sat up in bed. As soon as she was sitting up she knew something was wrong. It was still late, her internal clock told her as much, but yet her eyes told her that it was day time from the bright light that was coming into her room. But no, it was not the light of the sun, she didn't ever get that much sunlight in her room during the day. At once she realized what it was and for a second she was frozen in fear. It was fire, the tree was on fire again. She hadn't been in the tree when it was on fire last time, she hadn't even seen it on fire, but she felt like she was reliving a horrible memory. This wasn't happening, this couldn't be happening. Not again.
Again Amadi was pulling at her hair, and it was a good thing since that was what brought her out of her frozen state of being. At once she was moving. She was grabbing things that she thought she would need and throwing them out of her window. She didn't know if it would work, surely the fire could reach them, but she wouldn't be able to carry everything out so some things would have to go out the window. Satisfied she garbed the most important things and climbed out of the tree as quickly as she could. She ran free of the fire and put everything down. Taking deep breaths she felt at peace, she was fine and her stuff was fine. But than she heard a scream and she realized that there were people still in the tree!
At once she begin to think as she ran towards the tree. Who was in there? From the corner of her eye she saw Dyakida and her sprite leaving the tree and that was one relief. However Dyakida wouldn't be able to help her, she had no eyes so it was best for her to just stay where it was safe. "Dyakida get as far away from the tree as you can, don't worry I'll get the others out of the tree just keep yourself safe!" she screamed to her blind sister as she got closer and closer to their home. Soon Dyakida was out of her sight and all she could see was fire.
Climbing back up the tree she wasn't sure where the fire was coming from or where it had started from. The kitchen was the most likely place, but at the same time who would be in the kitchen at night? No one was that silly, even if they wanted food all of her sisters would have known to just have a fruit or something like that. Nothing that they would need fire for. She moved towards the rooms and saw at once where the fire was coming from. Elder Kishku must have been doing something with candles since the flames seem to be coming from her room. Before Briella could go and see if her Elder was still in there she heard a scream from the room another story up and recognized it at once. It was Ilyra!
How could she have forgotten her daughter! What kind of mother was she, thinking about things and not her daughter first! She rushed towards the stairs and as she began to climb to the next floor she heard another voice, this one was Elder Kishku's. Once again she froze. The fire was getting bigger and bigger, she knew that there was no way that she would get them both out. Ilyra would need her, she was still a youngling after all, but at the same time Elder Kishku was old and would need the help as well. She realized that whoever she didn't go to would die... This was hard.
Time seemed to have stopped, and every memory she had with either sister seemed to flash before her eyes. She remembered Elder Kishku giving her her practice blades, she remembered Ilyra scared and lost when she first found the young girl. Both sisters were such a big part of her life, so important to her. Why she couldn't just pick one of them? Again she heard their screams and time started to go again. With a deep breath she started to climb up towards Ilyra's room. She couldn't think about it that much, the more she thought about it the harder it was.
Getting to Ilyra's room she grabbed her daughter in her arms and started the climb out of the tree. She was going as fast as she could, maybe if she was fast enough she could come back and save Elder Kishku, but at the same time she had to be careful to not trip or miss a step and have both her and Ilyra end up crispy from the fire. Finally out of the tree she rushed to where Dyakida was and put Ilyra down. She kissed her daughter before running back towards the tree. She could do it, she could save Elder Kishku.
As she got to the base of the tree the whole thing started coming down. That's it, she was too late. There was nothing that she could do to save her. She swore that she could hear Elder Kishku's voice screaming in pain and it made fall to her knees and start crying. She had failed Elder Kishku, she had let the woman who had taken care of her for so many years die a horrible and painful death. There was no way that she would be able to live with herself now. The tears would just not stop though all of a sudden everything was getting dark...

Part Three Screaming Briella sat up and clutched at her chest as she looked around the room furiously. She jumped out of her bed and rushed through the tree. As she ran through she realized that it wasn't on fire, and this wasn't the tree that she had been in only seconds ago. Still she didn't stop until she was at Ilyra's door and had her daughter in her sights. Ilyra was fine, she was fine, and the tree she currently lived in was fine.
Taking a deep breath Briella turned and walked back towards her own room. It was a dream, just a terrible horrible dream. As she got closer and closer to her room she realized the many things in the dream that should have given it away. The tree was their old tree to start with, plus in her dream Ilyra was small enough to carry. Elder Kishku didn't even live with her anymore. Walking into her room she shook her head and laughed lightly before laying down in her own bed.
Try as she might she couldn't fall asleep right away though. She kept going over in her head how she had forgotten about Ilyra when she first ran out. She threw out her things but she didn't even think about Ilyra until her daughter was screaming for help. That wasn't because Briella was a bad mother though, it was just the dream right? She couldn't control everything while she was asleep and that must have been why she forgot about her daughter. She was a good mother, she knew it and Ilyra knew it. Then all she could think about was if she made the right choice in her dream. Sure Ilyra was her daughter, and as her daughter she would do anything for her. But at the same time Elder Kishku had been with her since she was a youngling herself. Elder Kishku was the one who gave Briella her first blades, and was one of the people who were welcoming towards Ilyra even though the youngling looked different. She owed a lot to Elder Kishku, but at the same time she was pretty sure that Elder Kishku would have approved of her choice. Ilyra was trusted to her, and still so very young, Elder Kishku would have wanted her to live on since she had more of a life to live.
Yes she made the right choice, though Briella personally hoped she would never have to make such a heart wrenching choice in real life. She wasn't sure how she would be able to get over it if she did. Rolling over Briella closed her eyes once again, and sleep returned to her again. Thankfully this time is was a peaceful sleep.
