Esmeralda isn’t the type to just sit down and watch, and never has been. This girl much prefers action, and while she won’t rush into a situation without thinking it through logically, that isn’t to say that her logic is perfect. In truth, Esme’s logic is often very flawed. The pressure she puts on herself to be the best in all that she does has made her more than a little over ambitious, and headstrong. At times she can be a little impulsive, but once she’s made her choice, she is very stubborn, and isn’t about to be talked into changing her mind for anything. Esmeralda is very strong-willed and determined in all that she does – not just when it comes to demons and magic.
While she can be very intense and forceful, Esmeralda’s got her weak points. She would do anything for her family, – and in many cases, believes it to be her responsibility. Esmeralda has a strong sense of duty – to her family, to the military, and the titan threat laid upon her shoulders. And while she has gone through her phases – a few months of being a bit wild, and along the way, there have been stretches of time when she doubted. Was she good enough? Why was she even working so hard? But no matter what her attitude or the state of her self, she always knew that she had a duty to her family, and everything that came with it.
Esmeralda is often very blunt. She isn’t shy, and won’t hesitate to say what’s on her mind, most times. She tends not to tolerate attitudes very well, and can be quick-tempered when it comes down to it. By those who don’t know her very well, she could probably be seen as a hard-a** – severe, and sometimes difficult, when it comes to people not taking anything seriously. She appears exceptionally disciplined in comparison and simply doesn’t see a reason for someone to seem to only ever want troublesome situations.

*Bio:
Though she was born in the Utopia District to the north, Esmeralda was raised in the Trost District due to Joseph's research. He needed to be closer to the Titan's as he was secretly researching them in hopes of finding out a poison or cure. Esmeralda's father was a doctor though and as such had difficulty getting close to Titans, if not for Samantha who was a Scout and thus able to get close his research never would have got off the ground.
Not long after they moved to the titan infested southern region the Hawke family welcomed a new baby into the family, at the time Esmeralda was five years old. Due to the off time Samantha received because of the pregnancy, Esmeralda soon found herself being trained to face titans. Samantha was a merciless instructor pushing her daughter to the point of exhaustion everyday. This was because she had seen Esmeralda had a knack for fighting, one day while watching her pretend to fight a titan. This continued until Samantha went back to active duty, during which time Joseph tried to stop his daughter from training more as he was afraid she'd join the military. However over the next ten years Esmeralda would keep training by herself seeking her mother's approval.
It was the spring of her 14th year that Esmeralda would welcome her new baby sisters. Just as with her off time before, Samantha pushed her eldest daughter to the edge of her limits. This training caused Esmeralda to become something of a perfectionist in everything she did, however she never got to show her mother the results of this training. Unlike when her son was born after the twins Samantha only got a short leave, this is because of the Beast Titan being sighted by a scout team.
A team of elite scouts was created to go and hunt the beast, Samantha among them. The team left in late summer with over 150 soldiers, upon their return only about 20 returned no more then a month later. Esmeralda was with the group who went to see those that returned, unfortunately her mother was not among them. The young woman questioned those who were there but none seemed to know what had become Samantha, they presumed her dead after she attacked the Beast Titan solo. Now 18 Esmeralda has trained hard and is now a cadet hoping to become a scout and kill the beast titan that took her mother from her.
